Browning Books

This anthology is based on a nice idea. Instead of representing each of the Browning's separately it presents them together. Their life story and poetry are bound up with each other. And this volume shows to a degree their development together.

The greatness of Browning is a strength of character in the poetry. The technique of 'dramatic monologue' that he develops enables him to provide story and portrait at once, combine colloquial language and rich specialized language suited to the character and world of the speaker.
He has been criticized for a facile optimism( God's in his Heaven, All's right with the world) when he had in fact a deep sense of the tragic disappointments most of human flesh is in one way or another heir to.
He time and again makes his 'historical characters and their situations' come to life. And he has a richness and broadness in capturing life's varied moods .
A wise, moral strong poet.

A very entertaining mystery that is hard to put down. A great mystery novel that makes you keep on reading. It's easy to relate to the characters. If you enjoy mysteries, you'll love this book.

I have read all of the books in the series and I highly recommend them. I am an avid mystery buff and this is another one that keeps you in suspense until the very end. I can't wait for her next book!

The first of the Castrol Rally Manuals is the best for the beginner, while the later editions include more details for the active rallyist or rally fan.

A must for any Vintage Rally fan.

I truly loved this book and as far fetched as some of the stories seemed about Toledo, Mr Browning brought a very humorus light to some of the quirky things that happened there. The story about our swim coach made me laugh and a bit teary eyed. He was a wonderful man that wanted all of us to give 100%, and we all loved him so much we did and more. Some of my fondest memories are from that pool. The stories about his family,especially his father were a real treat.His father was our Jr.High Principal and everyone feared him, including me until one day I had an altercation with an out of control teacher and he defended and protected me. That scary man was my hero and I never looked at him the same. For anyone who grew up in a small town, you will appreciate reading this book. And yes to those of you who doubt, the story of the walking stumps is very true. Hats off to you Tom. You should do a sequel.

I bought this book while writing my thesis about the New Madrid Earthquake Scare of 1990. Iben Browning, who co-authored this book with Nels Winkles, was crucified by the press and the "professional" scientists about his supposed earthquake prediction of a major quake along the New Madrid fault in 1990. Rather than being the crackpot depicted by the media... I discovered that Browning was a brilliant and gifted scientist with many discoveries and patents to his credit.. this book describes his theory of how climate change has affected history. Its a hard read but worthwhile.. it's some thing that should be studied more by the historical community.. by the way Browning thought that human caused "global warming" was pure bunk!! JH

I play D line at BSU and this book incoporated and explained a lot of the drills we did when I was playing. It also gave me ideas for new drills. I recommend this book to D line coaches.
