Browning Books

This is a beautiful book, with quilts, wall hangings and table runners. However, if you are looking for small Christmas projects such as ornaments, this book doesn't have them that I saw

I very much enjoyed reading this book. It is the second one I have read by Mr. Browning. I can relate a lot to his feelings. I worked for Union Camp Corporation. We were merged ( bought out)with International Paper in November, 1998. We went from over 3,000 employees to about 1300. There was a lot hourly and salaried cuts; and a lot of people got early out packages. It could have been a lot worst. We learned to do more with a lot less and of course here come the contractors. Just like other American industry our benefits have dwindled to very little. Keep up the good work Mr. Browning.

This book provides an overview of racial politics in U.S. cities and detailed studies of New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and other cities by leading experts. Well-edited and well-written, I highly recommend this book.

Rethinking R. G. Collingwood: Philosophy, Politics and the Unity of Theory and Practice by Gary K. Browning (Palgrave Macmillan) Rethinking R. G. Collingwood reviews Collingwood's thought via his own rethinking of Hegel. It establishes the revisionary Hegelian character of Collingwood's defence of liberal civilization in theory and practice. Collingwood is seen as avoiding the pitfalls of Hegel's teleological historicism by developing an open and contestable reading of the rationality of liberal civilization, which neither reduces practice to theory nor philosophy to history. The pre-eminence of philosophy in Collingwood's early thought gives way to a view of experience in which the political defence of civilization arises from and sustains reflective theoretical activities. The contemporary relevance of Collingwood's standpoint is demonstrated by comparing it with those of recent defenders and critics of liberalism - Rawls, Lyotard and Maclntyre. Collingwood is recognized to be both a thoughtful critic of aspects of liberalism, and a provider of a comprehensive justification of its practice.

This is far and away the best biography I have ever read of the immortal poet Robert Browning. I enjoyed every juicy tidbit and was touched by the gentle language the author used to describe Browning. Excellent!

I've read other poems but no such poem like one written by a browning.The world lost one great poet

It is an indispensable aid to those who are engaged in research on Browning. Those who love Browning will also find it accessible enough to augment their appreciation of his work.

This one is different at first, with a sophisticated twist I really liked. It's still vintage Dixie, though, and at her best, she's darn hard to beat! Loved the political scandals and how they play into this kind of story. Makes it seem so up-close-and-personal.
