Cover:"At forty-three, Cody Macheris had enough on his mind to keep him tossing and turning at night--a failed marriage, a son he rarely saw, life in general. And now, in the quietiest North
Carolina town, the lady who lived upstairs was keeping him awake, making him wonder whether she wore nighties--or nothing--to bed. He could go up with an empty sugar bowl and find out once and for all, but Valentine Scott was one skittish woman. And as a security man, Cody knew he'd have to take those stairs one slow step at a time..."

Anthology of Multiple Authors' Heartwarming Essays
Helpful Votes: 7 out of 7 total.
Review Date: 2005-03-30
This collection of essays, authored by an impressive group of writers, is a poignant tribute to mothers everywhere. An easy read, the book is not unlike a bag of literary potato chips -- you just can't stop with the first essay. I found myself totally immersed in one story after another, till the whole book was read. I laughed some, cried a little, and marveled at the pleasant memories of mothers and grandmothers these authors were willing to share with their readers. It was awesome!

Report on Research from Around the World.
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2006-01-14
This book brings together an international cast of experts from around the world: France, Australia, Japan, United States, Austria to present their latest research findings. As such, this book represents the state of the art on research into mollicutes. The book is broken down into three sections, one each on Molecular Biology, Cell Biology and finally Pathogenicity and Control.

Of particular concern is those bacteria that can infect humans, animals and plants. The treatment of these varies from studies done down at the gene sequencing level to studies conducted in attempts to relate mycoplasmas to diseases such as AIDS or Gulf War Veterans Illness.

The material in this book is new enough that it needs to be viewed as a snapshot of the technology as it exists today. Much of this material will be consolidated into accepted theories over time and will eventually become standard information. At this time, however, this is the best information that we have on this rapidly changing field.

This book has all the wit and stamina that I loved about the first book "To Hell with Love" but it also ties up some loose ends and leaves the reader feeling more satisfied with its own ending.

Benny, Kate's sister from the first book, lost her husband to a terrible accident at the end of "To Hell With Love." She is used to others taking care of her and although she is a wonderful mother, she is having trouble managing her finances and adjusting to being a widow. An oppurtunity presents itself, and she gets a job where she meets sexy construction foreman, Josh Brandon.

However, Josh isn't the only one interested in Benny. Hades nephew Hermens has spotted Benny from Hell and decides, after his uncle sends him to spy on Kate and Elle, that romancing Benny is icing on his cake.

Who Benny chooses and how they get to the end is a wondefully great read, sure to make any love of Romance very happy.

There are just few masters of british humour. Among them are The Monty Python group, Benny Hill and Guy Browning. The nan really knows how to write humorous books. Never Push When It Says Pull is a book that can be named "how to...live"..."with humour" at the end. The book is a collection of short instructions like how to use a library, do jury service, to say good-bye and how to be polite. You will laugh really hard and won't be able to do anything about it. It is an absolute must-have!

The Outline History of an Expedition to Califonia by XOX is a wonderful little book, verywelcom on the 150th anniversary of the infamous gold rush. Newspaper accounts of the times accompany the old fashioned cartoons that depict the various misadventures of a party of New Yorkers on their ways to the gold fields. Instead of instant riches, however, they find misery, difficulty and often death. The tongue in cheek humor and wonderfully scrappy art really captures the feeling of the time. It brings home the excitement and adventure of those who fled the boring east for the new wealth of the west. But descriptions of the abandoned wagons and tombstones, the epidemics and misery of the ocean journey, recall that these gold seekers were foolhardy in their optimism. Overall, a wonderful book, well worth the reading.

I like craft books that 1. have big color photos of finished projects, 2. easy, concise instructions, and 3. options, options, options (so that my projects aren't always identical!). This book has all that and more. Ms. Browning's instructions are easy to follow. The projects are simple, yet beautiful. I liked that I was able to complete the projects quickly, but boy they looked time-consuming! Best of all, her ideas awakened the creative muse inside me!

You could make quilts from now on using only triangles and make a different quilt every time. This book has some good traditional designs made with triangles. And, it provides several ways to use speedy methods for piecing the triangles together.

WONDERFUL PRESENTATION OF THE WORK OF A WONDERFUL POET
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2006-11-05
I cannot think of a better way to introduce the poetry of Robert Browning than this small volume. The selection is excellent and of interest you the young reader. The commentary is quite relevant as are the pictures which accompany it. I find that often now, our young people go all the way through the early grades in school and many of them have never heard of Browning, much less read his poetry. This was the sort of stuff my generation and the generation before it grew up on and cut our teeth on. I do not feel I am any worse for the wear. I am fearful that we are bringing up an entire generation (rightfully or wrong, although I feel it is the later) of young folks who will have no appreciation to this great art form and will miss a lot. This book helps. This entire series helps, as a matter of fact and I certainly recommend you add this one and the others to your library. Actually, it is rather fun reading these with the young folk and then talking about them. Not only do you get to enjoy the work your self and perhaps bring back some great memories, but you have the opportunity to interact with your child or student. It is actually rather surprising what some of the kids come up with. I read these to my grandchildren and to the kids in my classes at school. For the most part, when I really get to discussing the work with them, they enjoy it. Recommend this one highly.
