This is an amazing story of one man's life in oneness with nature and all things spiritual. It opened my eyes and mind to the ways of the Indians and early man. And it made me realize just how far we have strayed in our busy, consumeristic, technological society. I admire his patience, his self-reliance, his discipline, and his willingness to share this with the "outside world."

This was the first Tom Brown Jr. book I read. Than I read, The Journey and than, The Quest. I have also read several other Tom Brown Jr. books but these 3 are my favorites. I have read each of these books at least 3 times and learn more each time I read them. They will keep you grounded in reality and your spirituality.
I could not recommend it higher and would encourage everyone to pass on this vital information to family and friends before our ignorance and greed destroys us.

In 1988 I happened upon the earlier edition of this book by Tom Brown, Jr. It was one of those books that seemed to "jump off" of the book-store shelf and right into my hands. In this book Tom describes his childhood adventures of meeting and learning from an old Native American medicine man named Stalking Wolf who was also called "Grandfather." It is still today one of my favorite books, worn and dog-eared. Tom's explorations and the instructions he received from Grandfather helped me return to that core connection with my Native American relations and to renew my pilgrimage into Native American spirituality.

After reading Tom's book I telephoned him to ask about his survival training program. He described a program that sounded far too rigorous for me at that time in my life, so Tom recommended I contact the Sun Bear Tribe that offered a softer and easier program started by the late Sun Bear, a Native American medicine man.

That began a pilgrimage to a wilderness program and then to a life changing vision quest, all of which has deepened and enriched my personal spiritual life.

This book holds a honored and holy place on my bookshelf. I am sorry it is out of print.

This book sings with the author's original illustrations, bright colors, and musical verses. It inspires both children and adults alike. Each page calls forth the reader's creative imagination and builds visual skills in activating his dream. Children as well as adults thrive when they sense their own dream, bring it to light, and find ways to express it in the world around them.

A child without a living dream is like a butterfly without wings!

Acting upon our own dreams whether we are 9 or 90 years old brings a profound sense of satisfaction into our lives.

We purchased this wonderful book for our family and have read it with our kids to open up their own dreams. The illustrations are wonderful and sparks great conversations with our 8,9 and 10 year olds. We have also used "What Color is Your Dream" as gifts for other families and friends with no age limit on who we give them to. Everyone has truely enjoyed the gift. Dreams are priceless, time reading with the children...priceless. The book? $13 or so bucks, worth every dream...

A treasure meant to be read aloud and shared with loved ones.

What Color is Your Dream? is a rhyming picturebook sure to delight children and adults alike. Amorphously colorful illustrations enhance the playful verse about the wonders of creativity and the beauty of transforming thought into reality. "Crystal ideas are sprinkled behind // as the dream makes its way / in and out of your mind... // Thoughts tumble-jumble and circle again, / colored and shaded from places they've been!" A treasure meant to be read aloud and shared with loved ones.

What caught my attention regarding this book was its title, a question that begs to be answered: "What Color is Your Dream?" Well with a question like that, you just have to open the book and find out what it says to you personally. :)

Inside, the book's cover continues to tease with this question: "Can you really make your Dreams come true?" As if to highlight this thought-provoking question and the anticipation, the next page is filled with happy, yellow stars, and stars continue to be a motif throughout the book. The text opens with the line, "A dream begins with a wish on a star..." And there begins the birth, nurturing, and ultimate journey of your dream, assisted by the lovable Dreamweaver ... lavishly illustrated, with only the brief, most soul-stirring commentary offered by the author.

"Snags" and "tangles" and "discouragement" are all a part of dream weaving, and these pages highlight the fact that the road to goals and to success isn't always smooth, easy, or free of obstacles and opinions of others. However, the dreamweaver offers sage advice on how to handle these moments so that eventually one's dreams are realized.

The book begins with a question, and it definitely ends with a question and a blank space, calling the reader to consider the dreamweaving experience and decide for himself / herself the answers.

Three features I enjoyed about this book:

1. Opening and closing with a thoughtful, personal question [Teachers--especially writing teachers will love this! // Even high school and college instructors can use this book to unlock student thinking, expression, and creativity.]

2. The vibrant, colorful art, that is both uplifting and encouraging [Supports lessons on looking, investigation, and interpretation]

3. The many teachable life and career moments that this book can inspire for a variety of grade / age levels! The book honors independent thinking, choice, self-confidence, self-growth, and diversity.

The book's unique personality utilizes and celebrates the two dominate tendencies of the artistic (human) spirit, and examining these aspects forms the basis for meaningful personal meditation as well as class / group discussions: Apollonian (logic, order, and balance) and Dionysian (emotions, creativity, and freedom). Each page has a star-filled, defined border; however, within this firm frame, the images flow freely in bursts of color, patterns, smudges, and shapes. The text also changes its size, shape, color, and placement throughout the book. [Humanities and art instructors can use this book as an example for personal expression and critical / visual thinking.]

Buy this book and explore your own dreams...

For those who may want to take their dreaming to the next level after Beletic's book, please let me suggest the following book, which has a companion website that includes lesson plans and activities: Dream: A Tale of Wonder, Wisdom, & Wishes by Susan V. Bosak.

I have purchased both Beletic's & Bosak's books, and I plan to use them in future Humanities & Writing courses that I teach. Both products together can be the heart of lesson plans designed to teach / explore ideas in context; comparison and contrast; fact and opinion; inference; persuasion; narration; description; universal themes; key figures in human experience, etc.

This book is of course informative. It is comprehensive. But what sets it apart is the fact that it is very educative and well written. The authors ask you to think deeply about the philosophy behind the "right" to pass down property to one's heirs, and then proceed to complicate conventional wisdom by pointing out that this is by no means a "right" in many places on planet earth. They also complicate the picture further by furnishing examples from French and Spanish common law as well as outstanding examples from Indian and slave law. How should the federal government properly discharge its trust obligations to Indian tribes? How can property own property? Very vexing questions indeed.

Do yourself a favor and pick this one up. I'm not a lawyer, just a DIY autodidact, and I appreciate this book's intellectual substance immensely, not just its command of the facts. This seventh edition is current and anticipates the 2010 and 2011 anticipated "changes" to the tax code, along with some excellent insight.

Don't just get it because this casebook provides good "training" on the subject of Wills, Trusts, and Estates. Get it because the enthusiasm the authors bring to the subject shines through on almost every page and because this is a very important subject that every citizen in a "democracy" like ours needs to know.

It is a book that can be read over and over. If you want Daddy God to move at absolute potential in your life pick up this book. It is not just a "good read." It is a book full of Apostolic Declarations that destroy yokes and release prophetic blessings. You can not just keep this secret to yourself. Buy one for someone that you love. Buy one for a teen who is struggling to trust in Jesus as Abba Father. Do not pass up this opportunity to get closer to our God!

BLESSINGS OF A FATHER highlights the importance of fathers in the lives of their children. Not only that, author Randy Brown emphasizes the critical influence of spiritual fathers, such as pastors, on the lives of those under their care. As he shares his view about what he believes are unique blessings intended to be imparted from father to child, he uses various scripture references to illustrate his points. Though the primary focus is on the significance of the various types of blessings, which include birthright blessings, marriage blessings, and restoration blessings, Randy Brown also emphasizes that children should be obedient to the insight and wisdom of their father(s).

BLESSINGS OF A FATHER is a book meant for more than just fathers. Any spiritual leader can come away from reading this book with a renewed sense of the importance of the role they play in the lives of others. In addition, anyone who has a father, whether biological or spiritual, can glean an appreciation for the love ,discipline, and wisdom they receive, and deeper respect for the role God intends these fathers to play in their lives. Randy Brown offers an interesting perspective, but I would have liked to seen many of the subjects covered in greater depth. He also sells the importance of strong spiritual fathers, but barely touches on how one can cope when such a person isn't present in their lives. All in all, BLESSINGS OF A FATHER is a good, but brief examination of fatherhood.

This book isn't just for men or fathers! This is an awesome gift for Mother's Day and single women. As a single woman,Blessings of a Father, had a tremendous impact on my life. It showed me how to position myself in relation to my own natural father to allow him the ability to speak into my life, how to position myself with my spiritual father and how to align myself to my heavenly father. I also know what I need to look for in a husband so that he understands how to release these blessings over our children!

I must recommend this book for all fathers and potential fathers to grasp the "thoughts of God" readarding fatherhood!

The Stokes bird books major in the sheer delight of discovering the bird in question. The 1991 STOKES BLUEBIRD BOOK carries this tradition forward without missing a step.

The book's three sections explore 'The Birds', 'Attracting Bluebirds', an 'Bluebird Behavior'. The first section introduces this captivating bird by way of poetry and observations made about it, mostly when the species was more plentiful than it is today. The Stokes then present the 'Eastern', 'Mountain', and 'Western Bluebird' varieties.

The second section details what we've learned about compensating for the habit destruction that has made Bluebird numbers drop precipitously in recent times. I bought my copy after undertaking the Quijote's quest of adding a bluebird house to my Indiana front yard. It was immediately fitted out by a male house wren whose spouse chose other digs.

A final section, comprising nearly half the book's pages, follows these birds through their life stages.

Through 96 pages, the authors' prose cannot veil their admiration for these birds and their sheer delight in sympathetic proximity to them.

It all adds up to a winner.

This is a good book for those who are interested in learning more about bluebirds and perhaps getting started with their own trail. It is mostly focused on the eastern bluebird but also discusses the mountain and western bluebirds, with plenty of photos. It also shows how to distinguish different types of nests so you can tell whether a house wren or house sparrow has taken over your bluebird box.

This is certainly one you will want to add to your collection. Having been a birder for well over fifty years now, and a collector of books on the subject, I found this one to be well worth the cost. As pointed out by another reviewer here, some of the information in this book is quite basic. But that is okay! Everyone has to start somewhere and this is one of the best books I know to get that start. This is not to say that an "expert" will not be able to get anyting out of this work...that is silly. But, like any work on the subject of birds, this one needs to be supplemented by other books on the subject and field guides.

The photographs in this work are wonderful, some of the best I have seen and the text is clear and concise, which is sort of a trade mark for this writing team. There is a great amount of useful information in this relatively small volume, and with it, and a couple of the other recommended works here, you should be able to become quite an authority on the subject. This particular bird is a favorite of mine and I find any work that promotes it's well being a good thing. Recommend this one highly.

Once you have a bluebird visit your backyard, you WILL be hooked...and you'll start looking for anything and everything to lure them back--it sounds crazy, but I think every bluebirder started this way! I read just about everything I could find about them on the internet, and you can find tons of information there, but sometimes I'd rather consult a book or two--The Bluebird Book is one of my two.

Actually it is pretty basic, and I thought it was too basic at times, but the further I read there was still a lot of good information about bluebird behavior, feeding habits, preferred habitat, nesting, nest boxes, predators of the bluebird, predator prevention, and what I didn't see anyplace else...bluebird language! But I think what kept me reading was the fantastic photographs--the photos will draw you in, and if you weren't too serious about doing the 'bluebirding thing', you will be after starting with this book. What it lacks in "complete reference" will certainly prompt you to take the next step of getting another more advanced book, pouring thru bluebird internet sites, or setting up a nest box or two in your yard. Just a note--depending on where you live in the US, parts of this book may not apply--but that is the same for other bluebird books also; don't get discouraged over it. Most bluebird books cover Eastern, Western, and Mountain bluebirds all at once, and what works in the east, may not work in the west, or south, for example.

The other book that goes into great detail on just about everything bluebird related is the Bluebird Monitor's Guide. This should be your next book if you can find it. Excellent stuff, expands on what you learned in the Bluebird Book, and lists many lessons and lessons-learned, easy and hard, from average folks who became very passionate about bluebirds.

After starting with the Bluebird Monitor's Guide, The Bluebird Book filled in a few areas and had some good detailed photos. And all the photos will have you wishing to have these beauties grace your neighborhood. Another note--there's also a Stokes video about bluebirding...I haven't seen it, but much of what I've read about it online is not very positive. Stick with this book and the Monitor's Guide and you will have plenty of solid information about bluebirds, setting up PROPER nest box(es), and providing a safe environment for a bluebird family, or any native wildbird family for that matter. Please be a responsible bird landlord!

The Everlasting is a great game for both beginning roleplayers and those playing since time began. There is not much you can't do with this game, and you can literally use it for many different kinds of gaming adventures from the medival dungeon crawl to a modern day war with a group of fallen angels. This game literally has everything.

I discovered The Everlasting back when it first came out. Back then, they were great, and I was sad to see the game fold. A few years ago, the game came back, and that was joyous news, but something subtle was missing: the books were still in black and white while most of the big games had switched over to color.

This is fantastic. The game is excellent, the book is beautifull, and the layout is a big improvement. Sample characters have been included and the magick rules are greatly expanded. If you like gaming, get this book. If you like mythology, get this book. If you like modern fantasy or horror, get this book. In general, get this book . . . even if you have the old black and white version, get this book!

The Book of the Unliving, Color Edition, is, as the name implies, a revamp of an earlier book put out by Visionary Entertainment Studios.

The full pictures utilize an etheral style that fully compliments the content of the book. I was especially enchanted with the pictures in the Ghul section, as they manage to be both horrifying and strangely beautiful.

The content is on par, if not better, than the art. The book's set in the modern era. Magic is every where, but hidden from the eyes of mortals, save for a few Fantasts and Magicians. In this world there are the eldritch, the magical races of the world. The Book of the Unliving details the Vampires (Immortal blood-suckers that everyone should be familiar with), Ghuls (Mortals who drank Annecro and earned immortality as zombie like creatures who must feed on the flesh of dead humans or face physical and mental degeneration), Revenants (Dead souls who returned from the grave and possessed another's body), Dead Souls (Ghost's who, for whatever reason, do not rest quietly), and Re-animates (think Frankenstein's monster), as well providing barebones statistics for 10 other Eldritch (which are more thoroughly explored in the other three core books).

Like the other Foundation books of the Everlasting series, the Book of the Unliving can stand on its own, having rules (With variations for freeform, dice, or card draw methods of play), advice for GMs (Or DMs, Or STs, as you prefer), supernatural powers for the various undead, information on the setting, and a flexible magic system (Fans of the Everlasting system will no doubt rejoice at the all new break down of magickal effects by category and magnitude).

This is an all around excellent RPG and should be in any modern fantast fan's collection.

An excellent and solid RPG

For years the "World of Darkness" has dominated the market in terms of Urban Fantasy but Everlasting, the new contender has everything that it takes to topple that Throne, and more.

I found the rule system light and flexible but still with enough meat to give you a solid idea about your character and what he can do.

The system itself offers several dice and character creation systems, a card based (Tarot or other) system and also instructions for gameing without a game master.

Included is also a way to directly reward or punish players for their actions and also personal Ethos, Beliefs ,Outlooks, Passions and Relations to further define the Character.

The overall Background is a world in between our "normal" World, called the "Reverie"(along with several other Planes of Existance) where supernatural beings of all kind and color dwell and carry out age old conflicts among each other. What appears to us a spooky abandoned house might be a huge Victorian Manor, the palace like dwelling place of a Revenant in the Reverie, a small patch of forest to us is a primeval forest where creatures straight from a fairytale live...

Each of the four foundation books provides an entirely different tone of play, with a set of supernatural creatures described in detail, magic paths and planes of existence that belong to the topic the book aims at.

All the Beings from the other Foundation Books are described
with their basic traits, enough to give the Gamemaster an idea how to describe and play those beings.

The Book of the Unliving introduces you to the dark, bleak, "gothic" world of all things Undead:

Vampires (Predators out for blood who can run the whole range from the beastial to the smooth and refined upper crust "party animal") and many of their "Bloodlines"

Revenants (ghosts that one way or another made their way back from the afterlife by takeing over bodies, living or dead, they sustain themself by draining the life force of others, ageing mortals, withering plants...)

Dead Souls (Spirits of the Dead,Ghosts) and the societies they created in the Underworld

Ghuls (people that drank from an ancient elixir that provided them with both, immortality and a decaying body and/or soul, who must feed on raw flesh to keep their bodies from Degenerating) dwelling in Tunnels and Crypts, living their unlives as outcasts even among the other supernatural beings.

Reanimates (Artifical Beings, crafted from Bodyparts, a fusion of dead flesh and metal, or entirely inorganic like Clay or Stone)

The plane of existence described (beside the Reverie) in this Book is the Underworld, dwelling place of the Dead Souls, with its most important places, rules and basic politics.

To sum it up:
With about 20 years of role playing experience under my belt I am delighted by the style of The Everlasting. The system supports many tastes, rule and background wise, without being too thin on one and too thick on the other. I can only recommend that you give it a try with the foundation book that most suits your taste.

Superior in every way to the new World of Darkness

When I received this book in the mail, I was astonished. The artwork alone elevates this product above any of the new World of Darkness material. But the approach to roleplaying is genuinely innovative.

The rules system is either card/tarot based or dice based (which is presented side by side rather than stuck at the back of the book like a forgotten step child).

The presentation and layout is fabulous. The artwork is breathtakingly dark and atmospheric, and the setting is what I've come to expect from modern horror/fantasy: grounded in real world beliefs. As opposed to the attempts made in the new World of Darkness, it has much greater strength IMO.

In addition, the messageboard at Visionary Entertainment is quite active with the publishers interacting with fans. I have since come to find out this is the way it has ALWAYS been. That kind of product support is heartfelt and always useful. This game, in it's first edition, so inspired one fan that he bought the company and has been hard at work helping produce more material.

Highly recommended!

This book is about all kinds of bugs. My kids ages 5 to 9 were all glued to this one again and again. The illustrations are absolutely the best I've seen. They are so cute and funny and there are tons of different types shown. The pages are overflowing! The gross out factor is high for instance "Oh, in your clothes they're restin, in your nose theyre nestin, there isn't any question, theyre infestin your intestine" and "now, you may have had a hunch, if you bite bugs they will crunch, this is true but stay alert - the fat ones sometimes squirt." Then, the illustrations show the picute of a boy forking a huge bug on a plate and green guts spraying out. My kids were uttering "ooooh yuck" and "oh, he's cute" throughout the book and wanted it read again when we were done. If your kid likes bugs and the gross out factor, this book is for him or her.

QUIRKY, GROSS, REVOLTING AND SOOOO MUCH FUN!

This is one of those silly books that kids (and adults that still have a lot of kid in them) love! It is quirky and is loaded with gross pictures of bugs and very strange suggestions as to what to do with them. The art work is great and the rhyming text is a pleasure to read. A tremendous amount of imagination and work has gone into this work and it has certainly paid off. This is one of the most checked out books in the local school libraries for the young ones. They just enjoy looking at the pictures. This is also a fun book to read with your child or a group of school kids. The bugs depicted and the uses they are put to are so ridiculous that I doubt a child, any child, would take it very serious. Most children are bright enough to spot a "put on" when they see it, so I don't think their is much worry in that department. If you are looking for a fun, interesting and very, very funny book to read with your child, then you probably should give this one a try. The art work alone is worth the price of the book.

Weird, but totally funny

I have bought most of these books for my 6 year old son. They are a little creepy, but for boys, they are terrific fun! And for me too, to be able to get into "character" reading them. I would highly recommend these series of books for anyone who has a child who loves animals, and bugs. Great fun, if you can get through it!

My Grandkids love this book.

This is a good book. It's gross and charmingly off-beat, just as the other reviewers claim. It also rhymes and makes a good out-loud read. And it is very, very outlandishly funny.

However, we also have David T. Greenberg's book Snakes! and it is just as appealingly gross and much funnier. Plus, the rhymes work a bit better for out loud reading. If you are only getting one of his books, I'd go for Snakes!

But before you buy, a quick warning! Neither this book or the Snakes! book are for kids who take things literally or who are easily frightened. I'd only recommend them for children who really "get" puns, word plays and jokes. It is the perfect book for older kids who still love to have books read out loud to them.

I purchased the autumn book and really enjoyed it, so I ordered Christmas Joy. I was tad disappointed to see this was such a small and slender volume. It has the same cute recipes and suggestions but fewer of them. It is also fairly short- only 46 pages. I read it in about 15 minutes.

Overalll, a cute book, but I was expecting more.

Most books that promise to be the only manual you need to succeed, do one of two things; either deliver the goods or not. Brown's Email Marketing Guide delivers and more. While some authors make a point of burying valid information towards the back of the book, Brown makes a point of introducing the material in an orderly and logical manner. Brown has put together one of the most thorough and complete books on the vast subject of email marketing. I will definitely recommend it to my friends and business associates.

and it's 5 stars for this book, since here we get clear, easy to follow, and good advices to follow, and we have good selection of experts and good advices. If you plan buy a book on e-mail marketing this one will be good choice.

Also, I need to say, that as good was this book - same bad was another this author's book - The Ultimate Guide to Search Engine Marketing: Pay Per Click Advertising Secrets Revealed

in this book, advices are or outdated, or even wrong, experts so called "advices" are nothing else but sales letters, and it is clear enough, that Search Engine Marketing is not a thing what this author knows.

But this book e-mail marketing, is clearly one of the best till now written on the topic.

I liked this book. It is available for just about anyone. Whether you are an online merchant or a traditional retailer. There is something there for you.

We are given an in depth history of the internet. I never knew it was first used by the military. Then there are when the first emails were sent. Totally mind boggling.

Bruce gives us the low down on four major areas of online marketing:

Paid search advertisements (pay per click)
Banner adverts
Classified ads
Email marketing

Interweaved within all this are case studies that show how the best systems work. Chapter 15 is jam packed with them too.

The author, Bruce Brown teaches how to write an effective email. He starts with the subject line then gets around to the best day to send it. We all know why Mondays are not a good day and most of us can figure out why Fridays are not another good day.

Wait till you find out which is the best day and why. The best time for sending emails are 7am-10:30am. We also get a free treat. That is website optimization tools and some web design helps. The addresses are all in his book.

As usual Bruce gives us a glossary. But because this book is such an easy read you won't need it. I think it is there just in case.

Yes for anyone who does glass painting, especially faux stained glass, this is a MUST HAVE for glass painting reference libraries. This is the only cfraft I do and I was amazed at the number of things I learned from these guys. Also the problems I've had in the past were resolved in such a way that went away thinking "Why didn't I think of that?"...because I didn't have this book! I'm on the hunt for more from these same artists/authors.

We have been so excited with the continued success of this, our first book. Worldwide sales of this title have now exceeded 50,000 which we think makes it the best selling book on glass painting. Don't miss our other books and our new book, The Complete Guide to Stamping is published in March 2004. If you have access to broadband internet, you can see our regular TV show, Alan & Barry's Craft Choice and a host of other shows on www.createandcraft.tv. We can also be seen regularly on HGTV in the United States.

Since I am a beginner to glass painting and have one book on the subject I was looking for something more comprehensive that covered other techniques. After reading the review and previewing from amazon's "look inside", I had to buy the book. "The Complete Guide to Glass Painting, is just what it says, it is a good start for beginners and and provides lots of projects, techniques and motifts for the more advanced glass painter. There are so many techniques I never though of that was not covered in my one glass book. When the book first arrived in the mail, I glanced through it quickly; now I am reading the book word for word so as not to miss a great tip. Each page is well designed and layed out for easy reading and understanding with visual direction. You can't go wrong. For those who have more knowedge, this book has 400 motifs to use or combine to create fantastic glass paintings and projects that spark ideas. If you must have a glass painting book, this will be the only one you will need. Allan and Barry, thanks for sharing your 20 years of experience, this is a great book. If the authors ever collaborated to produce anther book; I will be looking out for more of them.

If you just are getting one book about glass painting to try the hobby out then this is a good choice. It has a good overview of the materials available, step by step instructions for different techniques and templates to trace over (glass is perfect for tracing ;-) so you can get started on some small projects. The color pictures are plentiful and pretty, and the price is not too high as one might expect with color pics. Even if you are just into crafts and later find that glass painting isn't your thing the templates and pics can carry over into other crafts.

This is a good book if you know you want to try glass painting out.

The techniques presented in this book is good enough for a beginner like me to get started. However, the projects given in this book was not enough to motivate me to try them. I've found that the book was not organised enough for a beginner to go through the projects and progress from there.

Having said all this though, I still think that the book is a good reference to have and coupled with other books like Glass Painting (The Art of Crafts series) by Naazish Chouglay, you could learn more and appreciate the art as well as the techniques behind glass painting.
