Narrated by Octavia Albert, this book documents the true stories of several former slaves, their personal views, their struggles, and their triumphs. The stories are heartfelt and the convictions of the author to pass on the history of her people are evident in her dedicated writing.

A read-aloud treat to share between parents and children who love the sport and art of fishing.

Written by Bulletin Blue Ribbon Book author John Frank, How To Catch a Fish is a unique children's picturebook offering thirteen different poems about fishing under different conditions worldwide. The soft, slightly abstract yet vividly evocative illustrations by Christopher Medal-winning artist Peter Sylvada perfectly complement the primal rhythm of the verses. For example, the poem that describes seine fishing in Turtle Bay, Tobago reads, "Within the early hours of day / we launch our small boat from the beach / and spread our net out on the bay, / then shortly after drag it back / upon the shore, and sort the catch- / anchovy, tuna, kingfish, jack- / and if we're lucky there'll be lots / to fill the village supper pots." A read-aloud treat to share between parents and children who love the sport and art of fishing.

Excellent Book ... Written for beginners and experts

This book is well written and very informative. Though dated, it discusses the subject lucidly and in a manner very relevant to a pholographer today. It answers the simple issues faced by beginners in detail. Is very well illustrated and teaches how to light people and things both indoors and outdoors. I think this book is an excellent reference: to read as a beginner and then to come back to as one progresses in their skills and faces problems.

That's the message of this book. It takes the reader step-by-step through the things that need to be in place for a company - and a business plan - to be fundable. Then, shows how to assemble a winning business plan from a strong venture. Easy to follow, great results.

A beautiful, clever book

Bought this for my almost 6 year-old grandson after he'd seen them perform and he loved it. So did his 8 & 9 year-old sisters because it's more than beautiful pictures and an alphabet book. It's also a puzzle.

I'm very pleased with my order. The book arrived quickly, and is in great shape. And so much cheaper than buying at my college bookstore! I'll definitely be back!

Hard to evaluate a textbook, but this one I have an opinion about. The text itself is pretty standard fare, but the online features really drive the concepts home. I am in a CD-ROM/Distance Learning Course and find that the extra "browsing" really suites my learning style and doesn't feel like hard work. I enjoy the supplemental reading and it is really helping me with sources for my midterm. At first, I balked at the price, but now I am really thankful for the online section.

Good stuff for a great game!

It has a similar layout to White Wolf's other Player's Guidebooks. New Merits and Traits (Internet Savvy, Uneducated) new classes (the Hermit and the Wayward) and an absolute ton of ideas on how to create and play an average human being (a surprisingly difficult task at times).

I have most of the stuff that has been put out for Hunter so far, and this would come right after the Survival Guide in order of usefulness and game expansion. The Hermit class is EXTREMELY interesting (they hear voices from the Messengers constantly) and the Merits/Flaws really help to round out a character (there's a fair bit more than just the standard merits/flaws that find their way into all the player's guides).

The roleplaying tips and ideas are realy nice, especially concerning what types of people are likely to pick up a given creed. There are some interesting rules presented on changing creeds as well (you were an innocent, but you've seen enough, etc.) which make good sense. A whole section on Bystanders is a nice addition as well (they hint that many Bystanders are failed Hunters - ones who heard the call but failed to act).

There's more here than I can lay down, suffice it to say if you've picked up the main book and want to delve deeper into the roleplaying of Hunter this is definetly a worthwhile purchase.

ABE lists only the numbered and signed by Neil Welliver (etchings) edition, 1988. 850 were printed, but there is an undetermined number unsigned by the artist and unnumbered. The numbered and signed copies sell for about $500 (2008). There will not be anymore more copies. This is an odd run up for the Club. I will amend this if a going price for the unsigned shows up. Otherwise see ABE on line.
