Engaging written and beautifully illustrated by Sandra Jordan, Frog Hunt is an superbly presented picture book about young children's search for a frog. When at last they find their golden-eyed quarry, they catch him and release him, and watch him swim away. Frog Hunt is enthusiastically recommended for young readers as an especially gentle story featuring lovely, full-color illustrations of the wetlands and its humbler creatures.

Excellent Overall Look at FrontPage

This is a good, overall introduction to FrontPage for designing web pages and managing web sites. My only complaints are that the illustrations occur up to several pages later than the text, and some of the examples are somewhat week. Nevertheless, I recommend this book to my FrontPage students. The Fugitive from Corinth is the 10th book in the Roman Mysteries series. The Delphina has returned from Rhodes and everyone is taking a well-deserved break in Corinth, staying at an expensive hotel (or hospitium) before the voyage home. Aristo, the tutor of the children, has apparently committed a crime of violence and taken flight to Athens. Flavia is determined to pursue and capture her tutor so he can be put on trial for his crime. Together with Atticus, one of the sailors on the Delphina, the four sleuths and Tigris the dog set out after Aristo. Following the trail, they end up traveling to Delphi and eventually to Athens, always just behind their quarry.

It was interesting to read about traveling in a carruca. Caroline Lawrence provides a good feel for the dangers of the road and the day-to-day drudgery of travel, including flee-infested hotels. This book, like its predecessors, is beautifully written. There is a detailed description of the shrine of Delphi and the famous oracle, and Flavia is even able to pose a question but does not like her answer. There also is a nice description of the Acropolis and the Temple of Athena. This book conveys the emotional states of the characters very well and they all grow up quite a bit as the story progresses. An interesting aspect of the story is that Jonathan regularly consults a guide book, which reminds us that the Romans were avid tourists.

This is probably one of my favorite stencil books from the Dover Little Books collection. I've used them to etch designs on plates, to paint on jars, to add to pillowcases and sheet sets, on a bookcase, and on cards. They hold up very well, all things considered. It's a fabulous value. This book has six pre-cut stencils depicting a menagerie of carousel animals, including a horse, a rabbit, a lion, an elephant, a rooster, and a goose. A great little book.

readable and engaging, good introduction to subject

Krantz has a very readable style and this is one math book that is fun reading (assuming you have the background listed above). No definition causes you to wonder why it was defined, and no theorem causes you to wonder why it was proved.

It's also one of the few books that defines sheaf cohomology in terms of actual geometric intuition and concrete examples. Even readers not interested in several complex variables should benefit from the way he treats tangential subjects in this book.

I do not know about you. But I can study math a lot better if the book has a hard cover. This first chapter assumes you are coming from ground zero and is good to read just to brush up or see if there is anything new, that you missed originally. There is a smooth transition and a gradual complexity as you go from the fundamentals through the subject. Now some people will complain that it is not all practical or applied. This was not designed as a course for practical or applied. However it sure helps when reading other books tat can only explain tings in at least rudimentary math. Even the fundamentals of trig are needed to follow The Ascent of Man by Jacob Bronowski ISBN: 0316109339. Now I call that practical.

The history of ecology cannot be learnt without reference to the work of Odum, neither the important shifting that will be necessary to build sustainable societies.
Is this book the reader will find the fundamentals of ecological processes and why they are so important to maintain stability and diversity, including too the basic concepts of energy and material flows being studied in sustainable development issues.
It's a classic and fundamental book for students all over the world.
