The Cross and the Couch takes what we seem to think is an unfair life and changes the paradigm. In a simplistic format author
Tom Bruno presents an understandable insight into how Jesus's life demonstrates that He is the Great Psychologist and how
we can apply these princiapals in our life today.
The Cross and the Couch is an easy read without text book words and each chapter ends with questions that lead the reader to self insight.

Crossing Bok Chitto by Tim Tingle is about a girl called Martha Tom who crosses a river called Bok Chitto looking for blackberries.
The river however is also the boundary for slavery, once a slave crosses the river the river it is free. When she finally
finds blackberries she also finds herself lost. Then a slave comes and talks to her. Later he tells his son called Little
Mo to take her to the river. Then Martha Tom visited Little Mo and his family every Sunday to go to church with them. All
goes well until Little Mo's mother gets sold, so they plan to escape. Everything goes to plan until they reach the river.
Little Mo had forgotten the secret way to cross the river. Then Little Mo put his hands in the river, finds the path, and
crosses it. After that Little Mo ran into Martha Tom's house begging for help. With that Martha Tom's mother told all the
women of the tribe to put on their white ceremony dresses. Then the women acted like spirits and helped the family cross the
river into freedom.
No matter how different you are you can still be friends. Little Mo guided Martha Tom to the river. Martha Tom showed Little Mo the secret way to cross the river. The Choctaw helped Little Mo's family cross the river. Even though they had different traditions they were still friends. Martha Tom broke the rule to visit Little Mo. I would recommend this book anyone who enjoys friendship.

Good luck putting this book down. An honest and open piece of literature that is hard to stop reading. It is a vivid detail
of the power of human relationships.
I felt like I was in Italy at the hospital with Patrick and his father. A must read.

I received this book from a native of the setting - a small Colorado community - who thought I would enjoy its mix of suspense,
history and a touch of sentimentality. She was right. The story is what drives the book, but the history of that area is very
interesting.
I think folks from Colorado would especially enjoy it, but it's a great read for anyone!

70 one page gems to supercharge your life

Author John Mason's book "Dare to Be" is divided into 70 questions designed specifically for readers with busy lifestyles who want to supercharge their lives. Mason draws from a huge pool of resources to present brief and powerful motivating answers to these questions. Each one-page reflection is selected carefully and composed of quotes and truths to impact even the greatest pessimist. Mason encourages individuals, to "Read this book when you're alone, dreaming of what God has for you."
In just three to four paragraphs, Mason manages to challenge his readers to take positive steps to a better life. For example, "Is fear causing you to run from something that isn't after you?" If so, Mason suggests readers follow Dr. Rob Gilbert's advice: "It's all right to have butterflies in your stomach. Just get them to fly in formation." Mason also notes that "Fear can keep you from going where you could have won. Don't let your fears steal from you and prevent you from pursuing your dream."
Another example is, "Do you start your day in neutral?" According to Mason, "Too many people lose an hour in the morning, and then spend the rest of the day trying to recapture it. Instead, start your day on the offensive." He quotes John Burroughs as saying "The lesson which life repeats and constantly reinforces is, `Look under foot.' You are always nearer than you think ... The great opportunity is where you are. Do not despise your own place and hour."
Several years ago I purchased Mason's book "An Enemy Called Average." This book sits on my desk at work as a constant encouragement and motivation. "Dare to Be" will also be added to my desktop library as a reference to remind me to always move forward and that, with God's help, I can achieve my dreams. I recommend you buy two--one for yourself and one for a friend.

A "must have" children's book

More popular with our 2-1/2 year-old son than "The very quiet cricket", "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Goodnight Moon."
My son just loves this book. This is a children's story about cars which go over the bridge and boats which go under it.
One day the bridge is stuck halfway between up and down, and so are all the cars, trucks, boats, and people in them. It
has colorful pictures of cars and trucks and tells a little story about the drivers and passengers of each vehicle. E.g.
"Betty sings as she drives her school bus over the bridge to take the children to school." (paraphrased) We parents appreciate
that all the maps are consistent about what is on which side of the bridge. The bunny-eared car driven by a vetenarian adds
a bit of whimsy.

Nothing was typical about Deadly Allure. The suspense was tangible, the mystery a building web, but the emotional development
was superb! The development and healing of Britt's grief pulled me "into" the story.
I highly recommend this one.

This is a great book for learning and practicing the correct non-manual signals. I used this book for a class on non-manual
signals and it was very helpful. Communicating in ASL is conveyed much better with the correct NMS and this book will get
you there. I highly recommend it.
