Bridges Books

The author has the talent to converse to the young reader and hold them captive in her exploration of bridges. She uses simple language so as not to overpower the pictures themselves. Adults will enjoy this as a read aloud book to share as it invites a relook at bridges we 'thought we had looked at' in our passings. I'm sure this will book will create future Architects, Engineers and Builders. Enjoy it and I look forward to many more in her series.

This book is a great resource for teaching children about the physical forces associated with buildings (even though this book describes bridge forces, particularly). Forrest Wilson has a witty way of making complex concepts intuitive and relatable, and his illustrative drawings have a signature style that is engaging and accessible. I have used this book to teach fifth graders fundamental architectural concepts with great success. A REALLY STRONG BOOK!

This program is rich and rigorous. Students will learn math and find joy in doing so. Highly recommend this. Our school's scores have risen dramatically.

This book is broken up into 4 parts. Bridge of the Visitors, Bridge of Healing, Bridge of the Mystic and Bridge of Spirits. Each section has other little sections in it relating to paranormal topics. Abduction, ghosts, NDE's ESP, etc. I found this book to be completely impartial. A lot of books in this genre tend to reflect the authors beliefs and are sometimes not impartial. Reading this book was very refreshing, I haven't read another book like it. The book is interesting from beginning to end with no boring parts in between! I highly recommend this book.

In his opening chapter, O'Connor shares examples of twinning relationships on the international, national, diocesan, parish, and neighborhood levels. The stories show food drives; summer camps featuring multicultural faith experiences; and material and personal support for education, housing, and health care programs. "From the highlands of Guatemala to an inner-city parish in Baltimore; from a Navajo school in Arizona to a rural outpost in Kenya," O'Connor writes, these exchanges illustrate the opportunities and challenges of the twinning covenant. "In every sense responding to calls for partnership and solidarity... are recognition of the relationship we have as Christians."

The author is managing editor of the Archdiocese of Cincinnati newspaper and an active participant in twinning efforts in his parish. After much study and experience with twinning, O'Connor set about to produce a basic text for establishing sister-parish relationships. In Bridges of Faith, he weaves historical information and Church teaching with first-hand stories of mission trips and interviews with twinning veterans. Though heavy on experiences within the Roman Catholic community, O'Connor's material is suited to any faith-based group with "non-paternalistic, non-proselytizing ideals."

In addition to the narrative style, Bridges of Faith engages the reader with subheads and sidebars, such as (1) seven reasons for establishing faith-based partnerships, (2) planning and carrying out mission trips, and (3) activities to enrich and expand a sister parish relationship. Finally, O'Connor has included appendixes with sample documents for getting started and a list of organizations that can help identify potential partners. All in all, this is a truly valuable book for anyone involved in or considering a twinning relationship.

You can sit there and analyse the whole book from a literary & gramatical point of view to death... but some books simply touch us deep inside. They seem to shake our emotions and somehow we connect... maybe we all wish we had a story to tell!

Totally recomend it if anyone wants to read a book that is short and sweet!

Its a great book, very emotional so prepare yourself for tears. The movie is fab too.

A thoughtful and sensitive book about the meeting of two cultures and eras. Zarah, a savey teenager from New York, learns about an entirely different way of life when she visits her grandmother on an island off of the coast of South Carolina. Ms. Seabrooke skillfully deals with the dilemma created when Zarah drops back into an era of old southern mentality. She is able to treat her characters with sensitivity and dignity while telling this story of learning to bridge the generations between Zarah and her grandmother.

David Bridges has diligently collected an amazing array of information about the renowned Woodmont Rod and Gun Club in Hancock, Maryland. Six U.S. presidents, Babe Ruth, Amos & Andy and Gene Tunney were among the many luminaries who hunted wild turkey there. A terrific book!

Covers the history of all non-interstate bridges across the Delaware with photos of nearly every edition of every bridge. The background information and stories of how each bridge came to be are engrossing and full of interesting detail. I expected to skim this book for information on bridges I was familiar with and ended up reading it cover-to-cover.

I had the pleasure of chatting with the author of this book earlier this evening at a wine shop in South Carolina. "Wow!" simply does not embody the sensations that ran through my body while he orated to me and my companions about the deep set feelings that can be realized and enjoyed from connecting with your partner. I couldn't wait to get home to my significant other to involve the emotions that were aroused from my brief conversation. If there is anyone that really feels they are not in touch with their life partner, I recommend this book to you. It caressed my body with fingers of literary magnificence.
