I just finished reading this wonderful book by first time author Leila Rae Sommerfeld and I found it very interesting and full of life lessons along the way. This is a book that pre-teen through adults can enjoy and a good book to read together to talk about the life lessons. There were times while reading the book that I forgot I was reading fantasy. Very well done and time well spent!

Set in southern Wisconsin, Andrew Oliver's novel, Beyond The Enchanted Bridge: A Visit To Scarecrow Land is the story of ten year old Martha who searches for her brother who disappears on a rocking horse when it turns into a real horse! Martha journeys into Scarecrow Land, a place where the past blends with the present, strange and memorable characters are encountered, and courage is needed to overcome obstacles. The text is superbly crafted and told in verse. Black and white photographs enhance the reading experience. Beyond The Enchanted Bridge is very highly recommended reading for middle school boys and girls and would make a highly popular addition to any school or public library collection.

I discovered this book when I was struggling with the decision to have my 23 year old horse put down. I read it, teary eyed, from cover to cover the night I received it. This book allowed me to see that the feelings I was having were perfectly normal and I was not alone. It also helped me to learn what to expect when the time came. I would like to thank Kimberly Gatto for taking the time to write this book. It was very much needed.

Beautiful story for Birthmothers/Christian Theme

I first received this book while I was expecting my daughter, whom I placed in an open adoption. It wasn't until after the placement of my daughter that I truly began to read and treasure this beautiful book.

It tells the story of Laurie, a young woman who is away at Bible College and finds herself pregnant. The book is told from the point of veiw of Laurie's Mother, Gay. Laurie does do a foreward and eplilouge in the book.

This book shows the strength of the family as Laurie makes a choice to place her baby for adoption; and the sacrafice and heartache Laurie endures, but also her family as well.

The book has a Christian theme, and tells of God's faithfulness on giving strength in the time when we need it most.

I highly recommend this book for anyone willing to see inside the hearts of a family who has been touched by a crisis pregnancy.

This si the book for simple easy hand evaluation at bridge.
There are dozens of systems that may be more accurate IF you have a computer and unlimited time to do computatiosn. But this is the one for real people to use in a real game.

Voids never won a trick.

Tricks are won by high cards, trumps, and long cards.
these are helped by timing and position of the cards.
Controls Fit and grouping/placement help which mirror distribution and wasted excess high cards detract.

With a gazillion possible hands no simple method can do more than provide a good approximation for the patterns not every detail.

This books dynamically measures the strength of a bridge hand by a combination of the high cards, trump length and other suit length while making adjustments as the bidding shows that strength/length lies to the left/right of the bidder.

My son used a form of LTC and was surprised that I always got the same results as he did. Our teammates were surprised that we could bid games and slams without many highcard points.

If you can find a copy of this book get it.

White Line printmaking: an american art to be appreciated

Blanche Lazzell, an American, Provincetown artist, printmaker, and master of the White Line printmaking method. This is a MASSIVE book, almost 2 inches thick, and it covers the usual artists biography, early years in art, and the developed years. It has many color photos of prints and paintings, and a good explanation about how images were abstracted, and composed, using a cubist or modernist manner. the "art-world" has a lot to thank, as this unique vision in printmaking can claim to be the only original woodcut printmaking method/technique developed in the U.S. If you like cubisim, buy this book. If you appreciate woodcut printmaking, buy this book. If you have a love for artwork of the teens, 20s, and 30s, buy this book,..it will make a great addition to your growing collection of books on artists as printmakers.

The best unknown bridge bidding system
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2005-07-12
Terence Reece has adapted the original by Garozzo and Yallouze, famous and brilliant Italian bridge players. This is a must have book for anyone who is tired of the run of the mill, bidding systems that most people use.

Blue Club is now considered an old fashioned system, but if bidding slam hands is of interest to you, then Blue Club is a system you must get to know. Don't listen to people who dismiss Blue Club, the chances are they have never played it.

This system is based on a strong club, has canape structured bids and is beautifully logical and efficient. I play it and it is so superior to Standard American or Acol, I am stunned that so few people play it. Stunned, but in a way pleased, it certainly gives me and my partner a real edge in competitive situations.

Please get this book and have a go. Blue Club is like an assassins stilleto and is a deadly tool for those players who want to maximise their cards; using a system that was developed by the greatest bridge minds and players of the last century.
