Courtesy of Teens Read TooReview Date: 2008-05-29
Except for the new sport at school called "Kropping" -- a practice of daily harassment and humiliation recently adopted by his classmates -- his life has pretty much returned to normal. Boring. It seems his days of saving the world with OIPEP are over.
Until someone ordered his extraction and he is kidnapped. He awakens aboard a ship, foggy and disoriented. In no time, he's forced out of a plane over the Arabian Desert and is preparing to speed across the dunes on sand-foils at 150 miles per hour.
Their target? The Hyena, a terminated OIPEP agent who has stolen the Seals of Solomon. The Great Seal, a ring, and the Lesser Seal, also known as the Holy Vessel, must be intercepted before the Lesser Seal is broken, releasing evil the world has not seen for 3,000 years. But they are too late. They find the Lesser Seal has been compromised and once again Alfred is thrust into the role of unlikely hero.
I guarantee that once you start this book you will be unable to put it down. Rick Yancey is the master of cliffhanger chapter endings. His descriptions are at once gross and fascinating. Alfred is endearing and funny, and epitomizes the hero in all of us. Who doesn't have the childish dream to save the world and be a hero? Through Alfred Kropp, the reader can live that dream.
Rick Yancey has created an engaging character in Alfred. This reader eagerly awaits many more Alfred Kropp adventures!

There is no other book with complete closing informationReview Date: 2003-03-10
The illustrator is Dave Patton, who also did fine work in Leigh Robinson's excellent book "Landlording".
My only reservation is that some aspects of settlement are handled differently in different states and locales, that everything could not be covered in this book. There is no standard for settlements in different states and some states use different documents. Also some states have a simultaneous closing whereas others have the buyer and seller go to settle at different times.

This book is a 'MUST HAVE" for anyone buying or selling realReview Date: 1999-05-25
This book is a 'MUST HAVE" for anyone buying or selling real estate. The down to earth way the book is written makes each detail understandable. This book is unquestionably the best source of information for escrow. It is loaded with information which will help property buyers and sellers avoid a host of potentially serious problems which may occur in escrow and closing. This book saved me money and told me exactly what questions to ask.
Delivers More Than Promised!Review Date: 2001-01-20
All About Escrow outlines the Who, What, Why, When, and How of any real estate purchase better than most real estate books I have read. It gave me the information I needed. I appreciated the "The Way It Really Is" feature which tells real life stories of a closing and I liked the check lists and what to look for. The book is written in terms which any lay person can understand. The sample forms were very helpful and the State by State Procedures chart is unique. This is one real estate book which delivers more than the title suggests!

A Great Guide for Animation on DVDReview Date: 2003-04-07
For parents looking for a good guidebook on animated content, this is a must. Japanese Animation fans looking for reviews of shows and series they've heard about (and even second opinions on ones they've seen) will be pleased.
Andy's reviews are concise and well written. He uses a conversational approach to the reviews that doesn't become dry or bland. He also avoids over-using jargon that animation fans tend to throw around.
Andy gives a quick synopsis of the show, his opinion of the work and than lays down any concerns parents might have (violence or nudity). He has also separated out most of the adult themed shows into their own section. With the great quantity of shows to review Andy does get some help. The authors he picked have very similar writing styles and tastes, and makes for an easy transition.
Last but not least, a section of Easter Eggs (hidden special features on DVD's) is located in the back to aid those of us who like to see everything on the disc.
Being an anime fan myself, I found this book to be very helpful. Andy's writing style is entertaining and direct. The only low marks I could give it are for the cover. It's a bit too goofy looking for my tastes. I would also have enjoyed a section in the review that linked one show with another similar show, or with another work by the same creative team. But aside from those minor points this is a very handy book. I'll definitely use it when considering what my next anime purchase might be.

Art of Robotech: The Shadow ChroniclesReview Date: 2008-02-08
For fans only?Review Date: 2007-11-12
A worthy addition to your Robotech libraryReview Date: 2008-01-08
The main course is what you've come to expect from Robotech Art books: cool pictures of the characters, mecha, and ships. The book soars in this regard. For new ships and characters there are sketches showing how the design evolved, one or more final "key art" images, and a screencap or two. For stuff carried over from the original series, there is also some original concept art and images of the stuff as is appeared on screen back when, so you can see if and how things were updated (not much, fortunately) for the new movie.
To sum up, this is a sumptuously illustrated and produced volume in its own right, and second only to Robotech Art 1 as both an art book and a sourcebook for the history, characters, and vehicles of Robotech.

A Casual Look At A Great Bible TeacherReview Date: 2001-03-02
We often think of great Bible teachers as somehow belonging to a different level of humanity. Wiersbe destroys that illusion with a real flesh and blood picture of himself, a man whose idea of exercising is walking to the library and who experiences both the joys and aggravations of people. Good reading.

An Excellent BookReview Date: 2000-09-04
It is difficult in two ways. It may unsettle adoptees reading it who have not considered the adoption issues raised. That is good. That is why it is valuable.
It is also difficult in its introduction of a private language and definition of terms to describe the effects of relinquishment by the birth mother and the transference that results; terms such as ghost kingdom, land of denial, free territory. Thankfully there is a page of definitions, page 314; a good starting point.
I feel that my trauma from adoption was not as severe, pervasive and all-encompassing in my life as it was for the authors. I also feel a suspicion that I delude myself. To paraphrase Clifton Fadiman, this book is a tool for self-discovery. `It will simply help you to change your interior life ...'
Robert Andersen finds insights in dealing with adoption issues from helping those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
The authors tell an extremely personal story in vivid and disturbing terms, courageously exposing their feelings and relationship. Bertrand Russell said about being blackguarded for his beliefs over his appointment as a New York college professor "`to withdraw' ... would certainly have been more prudent as far as my personal interests are concerned, and a great deal pleasanter. ... it would also, in my judgement, have been cowardly and selfish."
I feel that the authors have been similarly courageous in exposing their feelings, writing this book and so aiding other adoptees. They deserve the thanks of adoptees everywhere. I heartily recommend this book.

Forging a Bridge of LoveReview Date: 2002-10-22
Dominic Montserrat is brought to Draycott Abbey by his friend Lord Nicholas Draycott after the discovery
of Dominic's long dead ancestor Gabriel Montserrat. Gabriel had been shot then entombed by a madman and left to die. As
he sat dying, he wrote a will in his own blood that stated that the oldest living descendents of himself and Geneva Russell
inherit a case of 1794 Chateau d'Yquem - roughly estimated in value to be worth close to two million pounds. Conditions for
this will were that the two co-inheritors spend seven days in Draycott Abbey - with one another condition which I won't mention
because it would spoil the fun!
Cathlin O'Neill, the descendant of Geneva Russell, would be a hard to convince with
the conditions as she had visited Draycott Abbey once before at the age of 10 years, and it was there that her mother had
been murdered. Memories of the murder were locked away, too painful and traumatic to remember. Not only that, but her first
impression of Dominic was that he was a rich, noble playboy and she wanted nothing to do with `his kind'. Dominic's first
impression of Cathlin was anything but dislike....he was highly attracted to the very beautiful Cathlin, but trying to separate
his feelings from the business proposition at hand would take every ounce of self-control he possessed.
Intermingled with the battles that these two modern day people were having were flashbacks of their `other lives' those of Gabriel and Geneva during the tumultuous days of the French Revolution where Gabriel was thought of as a rake and a reckless hero of sorts saving people from the guillotine. And, Geneva, who was trying to convince him to try one more rescue of her only surviving relatives before they would fall under the blade of the guillotine.
The story is a non-stop page-turner, flawlessly moving back and forth in time through the memories of these reincarnated souls. Again, with our resident ghost and companion Adrian and Gideon, who help as much as they can to try to set the modern day lovers along the right path in solving the mysteries of 200 years ago, also helping Cathlin to unlock buried memories in solving the murder of her mother, and trusting herself to believe that she could love again.
I feel as though I am there with Ms. Skye's superb writing and breathtaking imagery. Reading her books is like stepping into the very skin of her characters. Effecting such ease in going back and forth between time takes on a whole new meaning when it flows from the pen of this accomplished author. This is another wonderful book in the Draycott Abbey series that should not be missed by any of her fans. Wonderful book!

Second, the hands are excellent. There are a large number of double squeezes, so if you look for them, you can maybe find some of them. Of course these were made at the table under pressure.
Third, the book will make you think about what the hands will look like after a certain number of tricks have been played (i.e. a suit run)
I was a bit surprised at some of the poor defense plays. Perhaps top level card play has improved in 40 years.
Fun, enjoyable book to read. Highly recommended.
If you are not familiar with Double squeezes and Criss Cross squeezes you probably wont get much out of the book. Study for a while and come back in a couple of years.
