Good book, but very few authentic Panera Bread Recipes

Review Date: 2004-11-25
The Publishers Weekly review was correct in stating there no authentic Panera "Bread" recipes in this book. The only authentic
items are a few sandwich and salad recipes (and these recipes are not very hard to figure out after eating the product at
the restaurant). The bread recipes in the book are basic, such as white, wheat, rye, etc.
The other chapters on Sandwiches and Soups and Salads, etc., are decent, but are dominated by recipes that I would not expect to be in a Panera Bread book. The few recipes from Panera Bread include the Tuscan Chicken Sandwich, Asiago Roast Beef sandwich, and Asian Sesame Chicken Salad. The recipes that are stunning but definitely not expected in this type of book are: Boiled shrimp and Tomato Bahn Mi wiht Lime Mayonnaise and Avocado, Curried Egg Salad Croissant with Daikon Sprouts and Roma Tomato, etc. When purchasing this book, I did not expect to search out 'speciality' indgredients (daikon sprouts, Hungarian Paprika, etc.). Many supermarkets do carry these, but many do not. So just be forwarned before purchasing the book.
In short, the recipes look good, but were definitely not expected! I was expecting a book with lots of bread recipes, soups, salad, sandwiches, and desserts, like those at my local Panera Bread. However, I obtained a book with a broad spectrum of recipes that look good, but was not what I wanted.
My advice: Flip through the book at a bookstore before buying! Happy Eating!

I tried several of the recipes and got excellent results for the most part. The text also provided interesting background
information and a bit of history of the art of breadmaking. I shared the info and bread that I'd made with quite a few people,
some I knew well and others I became acquainted with, so it ended up being way more than just an interesting book to read!
I may never attempt the tricky appetizers but the basic bread, i could handle.

Like the bread and was disappointed when I read that only the basic breads were in this book - wanted the actual Panera Bread
Recipes. Changed my mind about buying it for this reason.

I checked this book out from the library hoping to find the recipes for many of the breads Panera makes and markets. No such
luck. Like previous reviewers state, the only authentic Panera restaurant recipes are for a few sandwiches and soup items.
Still the focaccia bread recipe was very good as was the sourdough (though this recipe is available on Panera's web site).
I don't think I'll buy the book because I can get recipes similar to the basic bread recipes the book offers just by surfing
the net.

No liberal arts major can make this stuff out. Im a student who usualy gets As in math but this book is so roundabout and
confusing i dont know what im looking at half of the time. It's examples are not clear at all and do not resemble the text
questions well enough, the way the questions are set up, with writing, questions, then harder questions, really dont help
and are plain tedius, annoying and confusing. Nothing about this book supports positive learning, you can read the example
problems and everything else provided, then go to the questions and still have no clue what to do. If you must teach or enroll
in this course with this book, find a really good teacher as thats the only way to find this material presented in a straightforward
way. a bad time all around.

This book served as a great introduction to almost all math concept. Each capter could easily expand into a 500 page book
but that wasn't the intent of the author. I had this book as required reading in a class. The second chapter was a bit of
a hurdle but well worth it. It explains this relatively cleary however I highly suggest you get the student study guide.
You can become easily lost without it as the other assumes you know certain basic concepts. All in all I gave it four of
five stars. Hopefully he will publish a second edition soon.

I was really disappointed by this comic. The story continues from where the excellent Ashes 2 Ashes story leaves off. Ash
is working at S-Mart, and the deadites invade! There are some good moments with Ash and his coworkers fighting off the deadite
hordes, but then it immediately goes downhill with a crappy plot that sends Ash into the future to fight deadites there for
no good reason. The artwork by Nick Bradshaw is still excellent, but a section of the book was not done by him and it REALLY
suffers. It looks like a toddler drew it or something.
Any Evil Dead fan who loves comics should stay away from this one, as it is hugely disappointing. Stick with Army Of Darkness: Ashes 2 Ashes or buy it if you don't already have it.

Brilliant, hilarious and reminds me of Sam Raini's humor from Evil Dead II. I'm glad that Evil Dead series has continued to
exist after Army of Darkness. The comedy is very similar to the that of Evil Dead II and Army of Darkness. Although, the humor
and content is definitely adult and not meant for kiddies. So grab your boomstick and get ready for some dark comedy.

This book and the workbook were required for a machine shop class I took. The Amazon description is pretty accurate. It
is written for someone in a vocational training program who will be working in the industry rather than a home workshop.
The book covers a lot of material, but doesn't go into depth on any of it. Its a pretty good introductory book, but its kind
of expensive. I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't required for the class. If you are just interested in learning to operate
a certain machine, like a mill or lathe, or if you are interested in machining as a hobby I think there are probably better
books. I am giving it 3 stars because of the high price, and many of the photos are not high enough quality, especially considering
the price.

I find this book clear and easy to read on machining topics. The photographs and illustrations fit well with the text. Generally
a worthwhile beginners to intermediate book for pre apprentice to 3rd year. However in future editions I would like to see
ISO metric information on topics such as threads and tapers along with limits and fits. I would also like to see a change
to more up to date toolposts and tool holders for the lathes.

3.0 stars for Ash vs Herbert West

Like everyone, I'm a huge fan of the film Army of Darkness. I'm also a fan of the film Re-Animator, so this was a must buy
for me. This is the third book in the Army of Darkness series, but you don't need the first two books to follow whats going
on. The pros of this book starts with the great art work. Do to the cartoonish stile and vibrant colors, the tone of the
art (and there for the book) is at a constant state of fun. The action is over the top and never seems to end. Do to the
action never ending, this becomes a con. The old saying of "to much of a good thing is bad" holds true. The whole book feels
like one long action scene, and after awhile it just get tiring. My other beef with this book is the fact that we never really
see Ash vs Herbert West. Instead we get Ash vs Evil Ash (big surprise) then Ash vs Evil Ash with another Evil Ash! (big twist)
Just when you think your finally going to see the big show down (you know the title of the book), you get Ash vs Herbert's
accomplice, some wizard/warlock guy. What a joke.
Bottom line, pick it up if your collecting the Army of Darkness trades, or if you prefer action over substance.

A new volume on EMF, the product of a group of renowned scholars is bound to raise expectations. Unfortunately, this volume
does not live up to them.
It has all the faults of a collective enterprise. The editor apparently did not have the stamina to control the volume beyond establishing (fairly rational) general frame. It is true that judging by the list of contents you have here everything you need. The articles, however, are of rather uneven quality. Some of them do not offer much beyond stating the obvious ("Filmed Forster" as well as chapters on specific novels), some reflect the authors personal agendas without moving to the alleged subject matter ("Forster's life and life writing" offers almost no information on his biography...) while some show interesting lack of interest in modern Forsterian criticism ("Forsterian sexuality" - footnotes are very telling, it seems that the author desperately wanted to discover everything by himself probably because he failed to do his research).
Strangely many of the articles share one common element - the authors seem uncertain why actually they should be writing about Forster at all. The words "Forster's career as a novelist was spectacularly lopsided" open the Introduction and somehow this seems to be the key issue for the whole volume. Does it really matter? Wouldn't it be better to start from a quote from David Lodge - "EMF is one of the three most important native English novelists of the 20th century"?
Consequent authors concentrate on the question "Why did EMF dry up as a novelist?" so much that they seem to miss that we don't want to read about the books he never wrote or short stories he chose to destroy. There really is enough to Forster to keep him interesting and (yes!) powerful writer over eighty years after he chose to give up writing novels. Apparently, not enough for majority of the renowned authors involved.
One last thing - I could not decide who is supposed to be the target audience of the volume. There are too few new things to make the volume interesting for a seasoned Forsterian as myself and too many well-known facts are missing to make it a valuable read for someone new to a field.
Anyway, there is quite a lot of good books about EMF and quite a few bad ones. This one is somewhere in the middle of the range. If you feel like reading it you may as well wait till your university library buys one. Paying for a copy with your own money is a waste.

The Book I was Dissapointed
This was not worth the Money to buy
There are only a few words on each of the pages
It is written like You was In Grade School
No Story in it just little quotes and quips.
And remarks about the Players.
You could have this read in 20mins.

If you are looking for lots of inside dirt on the Steelers Super Bowl teams of the 1970s, this isn't the book. Terry Bradshaw
devotes more of the book to his life off the field than on the field in this book, although that is not really a bad thing.
Bradshaw is an interesting individual and a committed Christian, a subject that is covered thoroughly in the book. At the
time of the book was written, the Steelers had won three of their four Super Bowls. There is also commentary from people like
Chuck Knoll, Terry's college coaches, his parents, former wife Jo Jo Starbuck, etc.
