I like this book a lot. It's not the book that I would've written, and that's a good thing. Buying Carlin and Louis along with our book will give you two perspectives on applied Bayesian statistics as it is practiced in the 21st century. Compared to our book, Carlin and Louis offer the following:
- Discussion of the debates over Bayesianism within the statistical community, culminating in chapter 5, which covers the links between Bayes, empirical Bayes, and frequentist methods of evaluating statistical procedures.
- A crisp presentation of Bayesian computation (chapter 5), which offers a different perspective than ours.
- A chapter on experimental design including several biomedical examples. This chapter should be useful to a lot of people, I think.
- Near the end of the book, discussion of several classes of models--longitudinal analysis, survival analysis, spatial models, clinical trials, and others--where I often think, "What's would a Bayesian do here?"

I don't think Carlin and Louis have made our own Bayesian Data Analysis obsolete but I do think their book is a great complement to ours, with a slightly different perspective, strong coverage of the theoretical issues of point and interval estimation, and a bunch of compelling biomedical examples.

If you are interested in the history of New York and New England, this book is highly recommended. The objects excavated and collected are beautifully photographed with excellent descriptions.

Religion is a subject as old as humanity itself, and there's always need for a deeper study of it. "A Beginner's Guide to the Study of Religion" hopes to set its aspiring theologian readers in the right direction in their study of one of the world's oldest concepts. A masterfully written introduction, it should be as easy to comprehend for novices as it is a refresher for professors, it covers a survey of classics that should be read for any early student, essential quotations and concepts to be studied for them, and where they should go next after this. "A Beginner's Guide to the Study of Religion" is thoroughly recommended to all future students of theology and for community library theology shelves.

Ben and the Mysterious Sound (Hardcover Collector Edition)

I purchased both the soft and the hard-cover collector's books. The soft-cover I gave to my friend's child. She loves the brightly illustrated pages and the easy to follow storyline.

Any child would be happy to have this lovely book in their collection. It will become a favorite bedtime story.

Although I am not, my parents originated from Galesburg, so in my 36 years I've visited the town many times. As well as I thought I knew certain aspects of town's history, I found this book fascinating! Photographs are excellent. I couldn't put this book down!

I read Anthologies. I read them alot, and one thing I've noticed is that there is usually at least one story that just isn't worth the trouble of reading it. This is one book where this was not a problem.

Since this book is a collection of stories from a magazine there are many types of subjects with only the magazine as a common thread among the seperate stories. This is a departure from current anthologies and actually kept me interested throughout the book.

I READ THIS BOOK AND IT IS VERY REAL. THE BEST PART ABOUT THIS BOOK IS THAT THE AUTHOR WAS SO PASSIONATE IN SHARING HER LIFE EXPERIENCES. I REALLY ENJOYED THE REALISM...SHE DID NOT HOLD ANYTHING BACK. SHE GAVE ALL PRAISES TO GOD WHICH WAS VERY IMPORTANT. I WILL MAKE SURE TO DIRECT AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE TO READ THIS BOOK. THE AUTHOR MOST DEFINITELY GETS 5 STARS.

This book is really good reading. It gives nice histories and stories about New York and New Jersey area, deep wrecks (includes the Wilkes-Barre in Fla. also). The book also tells about the locating, the identification and artifact recovery from, wrecks below 130 feet.

This book is a must to anyone who studies the Bible. This helps you to understand the lessions in life and how they apply to the daily teachings.
