I collect books about the life of Christ. I look for the best authors, the best texts, and then make my purchase. I have been
buying them for several years and have recently been halted by the lack of anything new and excited.
This text, by Farrar, is the best I have read. All others pale in contrast. It is my opinion that a lot of the best texts about the life of Christ came in the time of Farrar, if not before. These were men who went to the Holy Land, wrote histories, and had a talent for writing them. Some vary religiously from my own views, but all are commendable: most of all Farrar.
From the beginning of this text you feel as though you are in the Holy Land. The writing is clear and concise. The research is bold and pleasant. If you are looking for a doctrinal treatise, look elsewhere; for this text is a history in every sense. The people, the culture, the atmosphere, the food, the dress, everything becomes alive and clear. Farrar is a talented writer (also writing a wonderful text in the life of Paul and Early Christianity) whose perfectly clear and subtle style is fully compensated with a historian's touch. Its greatest strength is in the details and objectivity.
Any person wondering "what it was like" when Jesus lived should read this text. When considering his life, in the aspect of history wrapped in a well written text, there is no other text out there like this one. This one belongs to the Classic's of this subject and Farrar should be every Christian's mentor and every historian's icon.

Life Through My Eyes - The Story of A Woman is a must read for every woman no matter where you are in life. This novel grabs
you from the very beginning and keeps your attention throughout. You are actually in the backseat watching everything develop
in main character's life and feeling that you can save her from the choices she has made or are about to make. You find yourself
wanting to reach out to her, to hug her, to encourage her, to befriend her, to be a big sister to her and to mother her.
You see yourself in her and realize that some choices you made in your own life actually mirrors hers. You find yourself
wondering if you are actually the character in this book.

Life through my Eyes gave me a backseat ride of the life of the main character who struggles with her own decisions for her
life and the freedom SHE HAS GIVEN to other people over HER life. I found myself trying to reach her wanting to help and felt
frustrated because I couldn't get my hands on her when she did what I told her not to do. I was intrigued by what was her
thought process, not knowing how events from childhood can mold and shape our adult lives and how sometimes we make self destructive
actions over and over never understanding why.
Find yourself your favorite spot, clear you calendar and enjoy the ride. You will surely find bits and pieces of yourself, your friends, your sister, the neighbor, your co-worker or a friend of a friend. .... enjoy!!

There are few books I've read over the past few years that have really stuck with me, and this is one of them. With the economy
in a downturn, I find myself wondering what's happening to the families whose lives the authors tracked for a couple of years
in the late 90s. The real-life families that are profiled here are truly memorable. Fans of "Nickel and Dimed" will like
this book because it fills in a lot of the blanks about how poor families cope. The authors keep themselves out of their subjects'
stories and basically let the families'words and actions demonstrate how difficult it is to live in poverty. I was inspired
by the resourcefulness most of them bring to the challenge.

Review From Publisher's Weekly - Almost half of the nation's children live in officially defined poverty or near-poverty.
Putting a human face on this and other statistics, the authors present a disturbing and provocative composite portrait of
10 families struggling to make ends meet--four white, two Hispanic, three black and one Hawaiian/Samoan. Bennett and Aber,
both directors of Columbia University's National Center for Children in Poverty, and freelance journalist Shirk (a veteran
St. Louis Post-Dispatch reporter), identify three factors--teen parenthood, low educational achievement and temporary or
low-wage work--that they call "the `Bermuda Triangle' of family poverty." Add the associated risks of domestic violence,
poor child care and damage to early brain development from malnutrition, preventable birth complications, environmental toxins,
etc., and readers will begin to see why poverty cuts across urban, suburban and rural areas. A few of the parents profiled
here battle drug addiction; one gambles; several suffer from disabling depression; one single mother bravely raises a severely
disabled five-year-old son afflicted with spastic quadriplegic cerebral palsy and a 234-pound, 12-year-old daughter. In
almost all the profiled families, one or both parents work, contradicting the widespread stereotype of the poor as lazy or
irresponsible. In a succinct closing chapter, the authors call for a combination of public- and private-sector measures
to help prevent or reduce child poverty. The issues they raise should fuel election-year debate. (Oct.) Copyright 1999 Cahners

Now this is a wonderful pairing: Michael Bradley's novel The Magdalene Mandala with his non-fiction Swords at Sunset tracing
the Holy Grail to North America. This package offering is superb. I picked up both books and could not put either of them
down until I reached the back cover. Amazing!
The Magdalene Mandala is a fast-paced thriller that's a bit like James Bond meeting the Da Vinci Code (author Bradley was a researcher for the Da Vinci Code movie and is a recognized Holy Grail expert). No wonder Bradley's prior two novels were major bestsellers: This book combines an exciting, action-filled story with meticulous research on the Grail. Well done!
Swords at Sunset is the true story of Bradley's efforts tracing the Holy Grail to Canada and the United States. It's all supported by archeological evidence from digs in Vermont, Quebec, Niagara, Ontario and elsewhere. He raises many fascinating possibilities in this well argued book that left me wondering if descendents of Jesus Christ's bloodline now walk among us.
I highly recommend both books. Each is absiolutely terrific and they do indeed make a great pair.

Magdalene Mandala better than Da Vinci Code

Graphic violence and torture scenes, high-tech survivalist weapons and characters so well drawn you'll really feel you know
them. These are just a few of the many reasons The Magdalene Mandala is vastly superior to The Da Vinci Code.
The Magdalene Mandala also focuses on the Holy Grail, but this is no Da Vinci Code knock-off: Author Michael Bradley has been writing about the Grail for many decades, including his Grail trilogy that began in the 1980s and ended last year with the release of Swords at Sunset. Bradley is a recognized Holy Grail expert and in fact served as a researcher for The Da Vinci Code movie.
So why hasn't anyone made a movie on the Magdalene Mandala? The book has only just come out, but it likely will be given movie treatment. But it's hard to believe any movie could do justice to this fascinating thriller. This is a book that makes you think while it takes you on one wild and wicked ride.

Great little neuro case book

This (and the MRI of the Brain I of the same series) are the best neuro case books I've found. Although more expensive the
the Case Review series associated with the Requisites (which is a GREAT neuro-rads book for the resident), I like the format
better. Each case in this book is given several photos, so you can see it on multiple sequences (you get more photos than
with the other series). This allows you to practice describing what you see (e.g. "a heterogenous signal on T2 in the basal
ganglia, with no contrast enhancement on the post-gads"). Then, there is a separate section describing what's on the images,
so you can compare with your impression. Then, you can go onto the next section where you discuss the differential, what
the most likely dx is, etc. The quality of the paper (and hence the photos) is excellent, and the discussions are thorough.
There are a few "tough" cases, and a few "easy" cases, but by and large this very good, high-yield stuff. And, there are
articles/references with each case, in case you want to do more reading. I think this is the most painless, high-yield way
to review neuro-rads.

This is an excellent collection of high quality MR images of the brain, each accompanied by a brief clinical history, radiologist's
findings, a discussion, and a list of suggested reading. The 100 topics cover a vast area of clinical neurology, from common
disorders to the uncommon and the rare. The presentation in the form of a teaching file gives the reader the opportunity to
study the cases in an interactive way. As a practicing neurologist, I found going through the pages of this book an enjoyable,
and of course, a profitable experience. I have no doubt that all those interested in clinical neurology, from undergraduates
and postgraduates to practicing clinicians will find this book an exciting way to learn MR imaging of the brain and sharpen
their clinical acumen.

This book is one of the most informative books ever on the topic of how to prepare for a loved one's funeral.I recently lost
my sister and didn't know the first thing about burials. This book helps all those out there who like me didn't until that
tragic event happens to you.
It also give's you help on cost and very good info on alot of things. Like God forbid I lost my husband! I didn''t know that the V.A would give us a complete burial for both of us at NO COST. Now where else would you find this out at.People at funeral home don't ever offer this advise.
I think anyone and everyone should be prepared for what we all know is going to happen sooner or later. I suggest everyone out there get this book ASAP. It's a must read full of great and helpfull idea's for one to put to use.It will help those like me
that don't have alot of money. This book helps you get through it all.
The author really did his homework on this book.
Go get this book before it's to late! God bless all and hopefully you'll be prepared not like me I wasn't.
Thanks for reading my review.

This book not only contains information that the average layman wouldn't know but it actually made arrangements for my and
my husbands final disposition. It actually took us through our funeral arrangements and we knew what the cost was going to
be before we chose our funeral home of choice. This book explains what all the costs are and how to save a lot of money. It
also covers costs involved for cremation and several other options. It even has forms that cover all of the information needed
by the funeral director. If you don't want to leave a heavy burdon on your loved ones shoulders I highly recommend this book,
this book may also be used for a loved one and not just for yourself. It has forms to record everything.

Having read this book twice now, I have come to understand the how's and why's people have this need to affiliate with either
political party. I think most Americans are moderate's who are conservative on some issues and liberal on others. I wish
more of my fellow Americans would read this book and try to understand that neither party has the best interest of the voters
and that there is nothing wrong with being an Independant which would at least help keep the politicians a little more mindful
of who they cater to. This is a book of ideas which goes beyond the normal bashing of political parties. For those of
you who are "my party right or wrong" types this book will educate you and help you understand that the world isn't black
and white but many shades in between.

Mr. Bradley has a great way of breaking down very complicated political concepts into a very easy-to-read, and sometimes even
fun, book that really helped me understand my own political philosophy. I've always wondered why I wonder -- do I have my
dad's political views or my own? I'm 45 and I think Mr. Bradley's book gave me my own direction for the first time in my
life. I can now sift through the media-chosen snippets of what they say is important to get at what really matters to me.
This book will be on my gift list for young and old friends and family. Thank you, Mr. Bradley, for sharing this insightful,
clear, and concise tool for everyone. I figure if enough people read this book and demand change, the politicians are going
to have to listen to us!

Buy it. You will not be sorry. We have found only one recipe that we cannot seem to make correctly. The dishes take a little
time to prepare, because they use fresh ingredients. They are healthy to eat (GREAT for diets), and have gourmet restaurant
taste, with at-home prices. If you take left-overs for lunch (YUM), your co-workers will be in suspense waiting to smell what
you have for lunch today. This weekend, we took the Roasted Red Bliss Potato Salad to the our martial arts school's family
picnic, and it disappeared - the potato salad, not the school. Quite a few asked for the recipe. One of my favorite cookbooks.

Nimrod Rising is a very interesting book that kept me turning the pages.
I think that the subject matter is spot on with the times and
Steven C. Bradley has created a book that mixes creative writing with some hard realities of the present to spin a tale of the future that will
raise the hairs on your arm. Buy the book and after the first page you will be hooked.

It's a book you can't help but admire as much as you hate its topic. I admire the author, Steven Clark Bradley, for taking
on such a task.
One thing I asked myself throughout the book is: Is this story fiction or is it true? One can only hope it is fiction, but the evidence paralleled by world events says there's a good chance that what we are seeing may really be the end of the world. But, who knows? And, who will be here to witness it, anyway?
I admitted to the author that I get an eerie feeling and unsettled dreams after reading this book. No wonder. It's a scary nightmare to think that we may be witnessing events such as those in the book as they unfold in modern day social and political events. The book opens with a vivid description of a world gone wild. Money, governmental control, media, chaos, war, rampant fear, and terror are noted.
Bradley gives reason for the condition of our world by taking us back to when it all began--the day Nimrod was born in 4,000 BC. Who is Nimrod? The son of Cush, the great-grandson of Noah. You remember these guys from Bible class, right? If you know anything about the book of Revelation and the seven seals, you will have a strong reason to believe that world events are a result of unseen warfare in the invisible realm.
It all started with the division of good and evil in the Garden of Eden. Remember Adam, Eve, the snake, the fall of man, the apple, the Tree of Life, Lucifer--the morning star better known as Satan? It is clear that the story is based upon a belief that the figurative Garden of Eden (the Christian version of creation) is for real, but I don't take these things literally. To me, they are analogies, metaphors, and such. Sure, I believe in energy both negative and positive and I know they have an effect on me. But entities? Okay, maybe there are angels and demons. But, I prefer to stay in my safe little cocoon where all is love and there are no divisional lines of religious doctrine or dogma. But, this book won't let a reader stay there. The 593 pages of text disturb my ability to ignore world events.
Cush, after defiling his teenage daughter, rejoiced as she brought forth his son. This infant of incest would become the savior of Lucifer and his evil subjects. This devil child, called Nimrod, would rebel and fight against Elyon (God, Jehovah) in an organized effort to control the hearts of mankind. The book tells the story of the fall of the Tower of Babylon; and thus, the war of good and evil is distinctly in progress. Through death, life, rebirth, reincarnation--whatever you want to call it, Nimrod comes to life 666 times in various human forms throughout history. It is now 666 generations later. That means the Antichrist is in the world now. In Bradley's story, another sinister entity named Abbadon possesses the US Vice-president Manassa Dormain--a man whose son was conceived similar to Rosemary's baby/the Virgin Birth story. There were drugs involved so it is not clear even to the mother how it really happened. Drugs do play a part in this story. Big pharmaceutical companies and government cohorts control the issue of all substances. The masses are experiencing severe rage-like symptoms known as TORS (Terror Offense Reflex Syndrone. The only drug to treat it is available only through the government. Sounds like the FDA, but I regress. The son of Manassa Dormain, Shepard Michael, has been put into a mental institute because, like his father, he sees future events before they happen. The book continues with Manassa helping Shepard play his role in the fight for world power--good trying to prevent catastrophe and evil trying to create it. I won't give away the ending, but it would make a good movie with all the drama it entails. You never know who is on which side, so beware of those angels in disguise!
I felt overwhelmed not only by the subject matter but by the mere size of this book. To top it off, there were dreams and visions interjected that blurred the lines of reality. You should not read this book while drinking alcohol. That would be like trying to read the newspaper while watching a James Bond movie. You've got to pay attention to the details or you'll get caught up in the action.

A page turner from the very beginning that will grip you till the end. The book not only delves into social issues, but explores
the lives of two people who've faced adversity. Though their experiences have left them scarred, they do not allow it to
break them, but make them.
A great read for fans of suspense and romance.

A wonderful book to read with great characters you don't easily find in any romance novels. Caroline Scarsdale was a wealthy
socialite, a perfect daughter and a perfect wife. Then her husband was killed and she was accused of a murder. She went to
prison for a murder she didn't commit. Three years later Caroline was released and ready to face a new life with a new name.
But then Carly (that's her new name) met the Representative Brand Langley who intruded her life by making her falling in
love with him. He's a man who need a clean life to make it all the way to Governor's chair while she's an ex con which means
she'll give him nothing but trouble. Could they really be together?

And though a scholar of the first rank, Farrar is a believer first and foremost who accepts the literalness of the Bible, resurrection, and the divinity of Christ, things which are lacking in way too many "scholars". I've read many books on Christ and this is the one I recommend to friends.
