Although the book might appear to be thick to some, but don't fear. Reading it is a pure pleasure that educates you along the way. It provides tremendous amounts of information about computers and immerses you in their world. Inside you will find that the content is clearly laid out, and easy to comprehend. Chapters are arranged by subject in a very thoughtful way and deal with a wide spectrum of issues pertaining to computers and their role in our lives. Altogether there are 14 Chapters. The book is devided into 5 parts: -Introduction ( Information Processing, Digital World ), -Hardware ( Input Devices and Media, CPU and Memory, Output Devices and Media, Secondary Storage, Telecommunications), -Software and Data Managment ( System Software, Files and Data Bases, Data Managment ), -Systems and Development ( Systems Software, Computer Files and Data Bases, Data Managment ), -Systems and Development (Inforamion Systems, Computers and Problem Solving, Software Developmet and Programming, Developing Information Systems), -Computers and Society ( security, Ethics, Crime, Future ), I would recommend this book to all those interested in computers, both novice as well as to those more advanced and experienced computer users, as that this book will develop along with your knowledge and skills. It introduces you into the world of computers, how they operate, and then progresses to more practical things such as their uses. It then goes to more advance topics such as databases, software development, programiing and security. At the end of the book you will find a section on programming in QuickBasic ( around 150 pages ) and 3 modules on word processing, spreadsheets and data bases. This book provides an indepth account into how computers work, how they are built, their evolution and future decelopment. I applaud "Computers and Information Processing" to anyone who wants to learn about computers, and hope that you will have as much pleasure with this book as I've had.

Stimulating and thought provoking critical approach to Lawrences work. Ground breaking research by the late Prof. Yudhishter 30 years ago, this book is still a 'must' for any serious Lawrence reader.

I am a highschool student who still loves picture books. This book was a great review for the AP US exam. If you know your stuff you will recognize all the little details. This is the most politically correct book for young students that I have ever read. I also bought some of the other series. Great books!

We checked this book out from the library 12 years ago because of the cute pictures. My son (then 4) copied the recipe for Friendship Apple Cake out of the back of the book, and it became a family favorite. When we lost the recipe, I ordered the book from Amazon. The recipe is still a big favorite whenever we serve it to friends and family alike.

Cowboys Don't Walk: A Tale Of Two is the true-life story of a college-educated debutante from St. Louis who went out west for a summer and ended up married to a Wyoming cowboy, bear hunter, and son of a horseman for Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Anne Goddard Charter's life with her husband Boyd is the stuff of which Hollywood movies or television miniseries are made. Boyd and Anne Charter were founding members of Montana's Northern Plains Resource Council. This husband and wife team united with their ranching neighbors to resist the coal-hungry corporations that sought to turn their beloved Bull Mountain ranches into strip mines. The ranchers' struggles with the land, animals, weather, wildfire, politicians, and one another make for a uniquely American biographical chronicle of the West that is informative, engaging, and wonderfully entertaining.

Mysterious Mammal Behavior

Review Date: 2003-04-03
How many people reading this know that badgers and coyotes sometimes enter into cooperative relationships in order to hunt more successfully? Elegant, artful, and playful illustations accompany a blunt text about hunger and duress during a drought in the U.S. Southwest. A single mother badger with two dependent pups teams up with an old coyote to hunt for food. Working together they are able to secure enough food for themselves as well as the two young pups. But when one pup is taken for food by an eagle, the mother badger takes the remaining pup and moves on. Eventually, the drought ends. Many of the pictures feature cross sections into the desert floor. Root masses, rocks, and rodent warrens are visible in the manner of an 'Ant Farm' toy. Each picture features shards of broken pottery embedded underground. There are also the ancient and crumbling structures left behind by the Anasazi people over a thousand years ago. The animals have inherited it all.
The author provides an engaging and educational 'afterward' to the story describing his fascination with the Southwest, the Anasazi and the behavior of coyotes and badgers. When he says that he has actually observed a coyote and a badger interacting cooperatively, I was glad that he was inspired to write this beautiful book.

My children (8 and 11) loved the way the author combined his own adventures with so much information about coyotes in this fine, energetic book. The author's lively prose also helps to make this a wonderful example of the new journalism as it can be applied to children's literature. We need more books like this, and I hope the author can move on from coyote to other cats, like bobcat and tiger, etc. Yesterday, we bought his wolf book, "Once a Wolf," which my son and daughter say is equally fantastic. I'm going to recommend that "Coyote" and "Once a Wolf" be used in our school's curriculum, which at times might be a little heavily weighted toward math and pure science. Glad "Coyote" is in paperback! If the author should read his own reviews at this site, my children want him to know he should keep up the good work.

A co-worker brought this cute book in to the office on Earth Day. I'll have to admit that not much work got done while we all looked through this book to get ideas on craft projects using common trash and recyclables - you can make a little village out of paper bags!

The illustrations are fantastic and the directions are easy to follow and understand. Best of all, there are some great craft ideas!

I'd suggest picking this book up before taking your recycling to the curb!
