I read the back of the book and thought this would be a blow by blow account of looking after a brain damaged child. I found that the story gripped me from the very first page and kept me reading since instead it is a study of the charactsers in the family surrounding the child. The inner turmoil of the father and the unexpected unfolding of events beyond the control of the parents in the family make this a gripping read. Anne Widdecombe's writing is superb and alternates detailed dialogue and inner thoughts with succinct summaries of conversations and the aftermath of various events. The final denoument is unexpected, poignant and beautifully written. We are left hoping that the family will find happiness in the end and the father's turmoil is over.
I look forward to seeing a televised version of the Clematis Tree.

Beautifully evocative, this Christmas story tells not of Santa or gifts or even more extraordinary holiday customs. Rather, it paints a portrait of PLACE--coal country Pennsylvania--and a little girl returning to family there for the holiday. Poetic language, simple and soothing, combine with muted acrylic paintings to create an atmosphere that blends the joy of now with the deep sadness of loss and longing. A wonderful choice for the holidays.

This book was very good. It has lots of examples and practices to feed off of. If you want to really learn COBOL programming, buy this book.

Following up her successful first book of poetry, author Baird has written more poetry about the weather--in particular, the northern plains weather she knows so well. The language is expressive and precise, but mostly the poems are great fun to read aloud. If you're a teacher, your classroom is sure to find great inspiration from this book. If you're a parent or grandparent, what fun you and your child will have talking about the weather after reading Baird's poems. Illustrator Patrick O'Brien's done another great job of illustrating the weather--a tough job, but he does it very well.

Finally after years of writing for some of the biggest car and model magazines in the country, Tim Boyd has ponied up with a book that, by itself, will become a treasured collector's item. This overview of model kit collecting offers advice, history, superb photos, value estimates, box art, and some wonderful built examples. Although the format limits the depth of coverage, this book is among the best on model car kit collecting. That it couldn't cover more categories is the only disappointment.

Well worth the price, and a must-have for your modeling library.

This is a wonderful study for the busy person that is looking to find a closer walk with Christ. Mr. Munger has you walk throught the different areas of your life with Christ and evaluate how much you are truly giving over to your Savior. Thought it requires less than an hours per study, the studies will have you praying for forgivness and seeking to walk closer with the Lord!

Syntax only takes you so far. Without the logic, your program can produce garbage. Joyce Farrell has provided an essential tool to understanding programming logic through the use of flowcharts. By using this book, the future programmer will have a headstart in understanding the logic behind programming. Joyce has an easy-to-read style and she provides useful diagrams and explanations. I wouldn't take a course in any programming language without first reading this book!

Your statement that she has not published since 1994 is erroneous. The book I am seeking is ISBN 0-618-00005-8. I need it yesterday!. She is one of the BEST writers to put pen to paper. (I read the previous edition.) I must have the new edition for class. She does not waste your time or eyeballs with self-serving repetition. Read what you need; re-read what you need. Not too weighty and worth it's weight. Kudos to Ms. Forcht!
