This series is a superb way of studing Raphael and his drawing techniques. The cross hatching is distinct and the attitudes of the posed figures are classical. The man knew how to observe with a careful eye. Anyone who want to advance in their drawing observation and technique will learn from Raphael or any of the drawing series. Remember all the old masters studied the drawings of other artists to advance their technique and compositions. Even Peter Paul Rubens used the poses from other artists drawings in his works and even drew on the original works at times. The famous 19th century artists studied other artists graphic works in museums to help advance their artistic studies in technique and compositions. Now with the production so advance in reproduction we do not have to travel to far museums to study the works of artists. This series bring them right to our door.

This marvelous book is a sequel to A DWELLER ON TWO PLANETS. The book is comprised of 22 incarnations of the principal character, Rexdahl, as he lived them after he was Mainin, High Priest of Caiphul. There are many esoteric truths woven throughout: the elementary principles of receptivity, reciprocity, and intensification, plus the laws of biochemistry as they pertain to the immortalization of the physical body. The book explores the Universe, Multiverse, and Infiniverse. It was received as channeled information about Lemurian life, yet touches deeply our walk on this planet today. If you have a lively imagination that yearns for excitement and thrill, then this book is definitely for you. Not easy reading but definitely chock full of amazing details that will give you a multi-dimensional belief system regarding not only what is but what is yet to be.

An excellent introduction

Borden has done a very deft job of introducing a complex thinker to non-specialist audiences. As a trained Catholic philosopher, Borden is able to explain both Stein's pre-Catholic and post-conversion work, which includes philosophical, educational, and spiritual writings on topics ranging from the nature of the state to the prayer of the church.

She has a really valuable ability to express philosophical ideas briefly and clearly, and goes into considerable detail on Stein's theories of empathy, the person, woman, etc. More general readers may skip some of the philosophical detail, but will still find many parts of the book interesting.

Having done a recent dissertation on Stein, she is up-to-date on the large and growing body of Stein scholarship and often succinctly indicates where the current philosophical debates lie. She also includes a chapter on the Jewish-Catholic controversy surrounding Stein's canonization by Pope John Paul II.

This is a perfect introduction for academic readers coming to Stein for the first time. It's not for those interested mainly in Stein as a saint, however: there are many hagiographical and biographical books on Stein but this is not one of them. It is a work aimed at giving a sympathetic but objective overview of Stein as a thinker.

My parents both worked for Borden's for many years. So Elsie and the rest of her family were a real part of my upbringing. This book brought back a ton of good memories. I bought it as a Christmas gift for my Dad, and he loved it. The photos and paper quality are really top notch, the collection very complete. There were things shown that even my folks didn't know existed. As kids, my brother and I use to play with, and eventually destroy, a lot of the items featured, not knowing at the time what treasures we had in our hands. Oh, to go back and retrieve those items. If you loved Elsie you'll love this book.

I am writing because in my opinion the editorial description of this book doesn't give readers a clear enough idea of what makes it different from all the other feminism and architecture anthologies currently on sale.

Part of the problem is that there now seem to be so many books with titles like "Gender and Space" etc.

But don't be fooled - this really is the only book out there that tries to give an overview of the impact of feminism on architecture, gathering and reprinting seminal essays from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.

Aside from the convenience of having all of these important essays at hand in one volume, the book also provides readers with an excellent bibliography (almost 25 pages) of related books in the field. While the bibliography doesn't refer to absolutely everything, it is pretty comprehensive - and, if you're interested in further research, this gives you a good starting point.

The introductions in this book though are perhaps its best feature - in particular, the introduction to "Gender Space Architecture" by Jane Rendell. When people want to know what feminism can do for architecture (or has done for architecture), I refer them to this essay. It's lucidly written and provides a great map to the subject. Particularly useful for students!

If you're just starting out on this subject, this is the book for you.

This true story of a young Mississippi boy who gets to knowCharles Lindbergh is a fun gentle history. In the increasingly fastworld of the present, Lindbergh's revolutionary flights seem quaint and old-fashioned. This is a wonderful introduction to historical biography.

best longshot selection book

This is one of the few handicapping books over the years that I can always read again and again. It offers real solid methods for selecting winners and also hidden longshots. I've used his methods for years at various tracks and Vegas and am continually amazed that they still work. If your lucky enough to obtain an out of print copy, I'm sure you'll find it facinating reading. It also offers some by gone era rememberances of racing. I would list this as must reading for any racing fan. Enjoy and good handicapping.

Part of the Farnum Horse Library series.

Chapter Contents : 1] First Steps for the Lover of Horses; 2] Saddling and Bridling; 3] Mounting and Dismounting; 4] The First Ride; 5] Riding the Trot and the Canter; 6] Seats Used in Riding; 7] Bareback Riding and Jumping; 8] More Advanced Riding.

This is a simple book that I found quite handy for just a quick overview of basic horsemanship. It has color photos that illustrate the different aspects discussed in the chapters.
