Make this your Fashion/Fitness Bible!Review Date: 2008-01-23
for you ... and more important, how to find clothes that really fit. Regarding nutrition, I especially liked the tips that show how someone can stick to their food plan while on the road for business or holidays ... or if you are dating or married to Mr. Eats Everything and you have to share a table with pizza and pasta on a regular basis.
The fashion tips provided the biggest eye opener. It's amazing how, after reading the book, my sensibility about fit has improved. And it's true...clothes that fit well feel better and make you look better. Paige Adams-Geller is such a sensible woman for a fashionista, I almost forgive her for that model-perfect rear end. I've seen Ashley Borden on TV a couple of times, so I was familiar with her exercise routines. The book sticks to her basic principles of don't bite off more than you can chew when it comes to exercise. Keep it simple and do-able, and you'll stick with it. It's all about doing things in moderation so we don't walk away, and really, that's just good thinking.
And finally, the book does one other smart thing. It's divided into chapters by body part - so flat-chested among us don't have to read it from A to Z and suffer through tips about disguising an overabundant bust before reaching the section on derrieres. The book helped me understand more about my body shape. Instead of the old fashioned "Pear Shaped" or "Hour Glass" -- which nobody really is, the book uses gemstone cuts to define body types, with serious explanations and real measurements to guide where you fit in. I would recommend this book to anyone who is fed up with those super diet books and the recent crop of "Great Style In Five Minutes" type books that assume we are all size zeros, have secret swiss bank accounts, or magical resale shops where people drop off their worn-once couture. This is a good real-world book with real world solutions for real world women and their body/style issues. The book is worth the investment...I figure I save ten times that amount over and
over again every time I don't buy something that's not cut for my body type.

Not only is this an inspirational tale of two women giving up their long-term careers and the security of their futures, but it is also a glimpse into the backroads of Europe as seen on a bicycle. The writing is great and the story compelling - five stars for this one!

The Sun Rises: A True Account of Events Which Occured Over 78,000 Years Ago.Review Date: 2007-12-09
To me the primary message was not whether the story was accurate historically or not, but the 10 basic laws and the organization the author introduced to help understand how any society might be organized to surive a long time.
I understand in the context of the story, that the society of Mu or the Mukulian Empire lasted from 78,000 BC to about 14,000 BC. There is little in written history or archeology that says one way or the other to my knowledge. I accept this account as Dr. Stelle's account of that time period.
The 10 laws are presented as natural laws that are stated individually, but understood as working together with the others. Here is the eighth of the laws in the story, and it might sound very familiar to and be useful to the reader, "No one may intentially kill or injure another person, except in the defense of life or State."
I was totally suprised by the map of Mu at the end, and that the western part of the current United States was a part of that continent to the east of the Rhu Hut Plains.
The story did not go into depth about the spiritual nature of Lord Hiroto and Lord Lithargos. But I had already read "A Dweller on Two Planets" and "An Earth Dweller Returns" so there was no big need to. A first time reader might want to know more about that part.
I understand the next book by Robert Stelle is "Into the Sun." I look forward to reading that next.
I also saw no racist edge in the book whatsoever. I hope I will find a similar book that describes the first society in Africa.

I was surprised to find this book on sale through Amazon, since formerly it was only available through the Lemurian Fellowship in San Diego. I became acquainted with this book through another book, The Ultimate Frontier, by Eklal Kueshana a.k.a. Richard Kieninger, which is a companion volume, even though there was some kind of a split between Mr. K. and the Lemurians. Mr. Kieninger later named his intentional community in Illinois, Stelle, after Dr. Robert Stelle, the founder of the Lemurian Fellowship.
Now Sun Rises is by turns very realistic, very fanciful, romantic -- but overall a very appealing book about how civilization was first begun on Earth; take it as fact or fiction, it is well-written and engaging and positive.
(I never had a glimmer of this work as a racist tract, as another reviewer seems to have it here. The town of Stelle never discriminated racially.)

A nice story for any ageReview Date: 2004-10-20
While the identity of "The Author" is kept anonymous throughout the text -- a technique that lends even *more* mystique to the specialness of her appearance -- this book is obviously an autobiographical story for Borden and is based on her own school visits. The narration is told in such a way that the reader's anticipation builds just like it would if we were looking forward to meeting a celebrity ourselves. We've all been there. Even adults become nervous and tongue-tied when faced with speaking to someone they admire and respect. Thus does this book transcend audience level. We can *all* relate to Eddie's situation.
Adam Gustavson's realistic paintings add greatly to the story. They convey freeze-frames of realistic emotion from every character, especially of Eddie and The Author.
This title is certainly useful for preparing elementary students for author visits. Secondarily, it's highly recommended for aspiring writers of *any* age who seek advice from "a real author."

very enlightening and very Christian in the best senseReview Date: 2008-05-10
As for me, I was an English major in college. Later in life took a great many science classes for pre-med and for 20 years have worked in a hospital...this said to say I'm not a metaphysical nut job. I like my books grounded in love and forgiveness and are very Christ centered (in a good way!). So, if you are curious about this book READ it. You will enjoy it just for it's almost science fiction feeling BUT NOT science fiction feeling....that's all I'll say. Gee, I hope I don't sound like Paula Abdul...
Life LessonsReview Date: 2008-05-09
A higher being delivered a message to a young man, F.S.Oliver, who obtained this information by means of "mental talks" during which the boy was conscious of the presence of his instructor. (It was not by "channelling" in which a spirit takes over a human body while the person's consciousness is absent and speaks through it.)
It has been said that truth is stranger than fiction and this story is no exception. It gives a fascinating description of the ancient land of Atlantis as a young man, Phylos, searched for gold and found more adventures than he could handle. His further descriptions of his continued life story illustrate that we are all responsible for our own actions. His heartbreaking decisions became life lessons of pain and ultimate victory.
This book is a page turner and an eye opener to the truth of life. I highly recommend it. One may never see life the same after reading this incredible story.
