My first Kimberly Raye book - how hilarious it was! Review Date: 2005-04-18
easy to love. I thought her refering to the bad guys (until she
learns their names at the end of the book) was darling - Slim,
Medium, & Brawny. I liked how she was a woman who went after what
she wanted, she didn't just sit back & wait for him to come to her.
Being mistaken for Sinful Sinclair definitely had its advantages!
I was kind of surprised, though, that at the end of the book, Sinful's sister just basically threw her hands up in the air & said, oh well! Guess my sister is stuck somewhere else. At least it appears she is happy. I loved the relationship between
the main characters. They were perfect for each other, even if
she wasn't so sure for most of the book (typical heroine).

Show And Tell-Laney and DallasReview Date: 2001-10-18
favorite scene with laney-
when she lets that girl work for her dad. she was turning her away because of how she dressed, and suddenly realized she can't judge someone by their dress.
favorite scene with dallas-
finally stands up for himself about the tiles. i hope that guy divorces his wife. :)
favorite scene with laney and dallas together-
in the dark auditorium when he asks her to show him. that was hot. i was afraid someone would walk in. damn punch. :)
order of favorite of the whole anthology:

LOVED IT!Review Date: 2007-09-04
Benson's attention to detail is marvelous. You feel like you're eavesdropping on real-life private conversations, and each and every scene is worked out to its maximum entertainment potential.
It's the literary equivalent of a theme park ride; lots of thrills and chills - fast-paced, and, you won't want it to end! Great work.

What did Vince's card say???Review Date: 2006-02-07
When Margo's body suddenly turns up in Belinda's trunk, she is soon is embroiled in a murder investigation along with her carpool buddies, who also have a motive for murdering the unlikable Margo, which puts a damper on the developing romance between her and sexy cop Wade.
Belinda is not sure who to trust; can one of her car pool buddies be a murderer? Or could it be the hot DJ, Julian?
Bond manages to take a romantic murder mystery and inject a lot of humor to keep the story light. Between her humiliation of being dumped during her wedding reception, to being the cause of morning traffic, to that horrible driver's license picture, Belinda is a believable heroine stuck in an unlikely situation. But I really wanted to know what Vince's card said.

100 Promises to My BabyReview Date: 2005-11-03
I found the book beautifully written with a depth of feeling that could only come from the love of a mother for her child. There was a spiritual dimension moving through the pages of the book which enhanced the message and the feeling of closeness, yet the words were those of common sense and practical nature.
These thoughts, so well spoken by Mallika Chopra, are the thoughts that all mothers wish for their children. Mallika Chopra shows the talent and the gift of her father.
Completely UnrealisticReview Date: 2005-09-10
If you wish to read a feel-good book that sets you up for some sort of "perfect" idyllic (i.e. unrealistic) picture of motherhood, than you'll love this book, though I hear that you can read the same in most Reader's Digest magazines.

Good for beginning CAN SLIM investorsReview Date: 2004-03-06
The chapters cover these wonderful topics:
* Capitalism: What it is and why it works
* The stock market: Primer on what stocks are and how the market works
* Mutual funds
* Options
* Bonds
* Futures market
* Economics and economic indicators
The book reminds me of Investing Smart however Guide to the Markets is at least 10 times better and covers more topics, not to mention the writers are much better than Dhun H. Sethna.
I recommend this for beginning CAN SLIM investors.

Dear, Sweet, & BeautifulReview Date: 2000-11-22
_Girlfriends_ is a collection of stories that explore and celebrate female friendship through the eyes, ears, and hearts of everyday women. Some of the women were friends for a lifetime, others for a short time. However, all understood and/or demonstrated the meaning of "true friendship." For example, the stories included everything from the thankful musings of a once-ill woman about the extraordinaty kindness of her girlfriends to a giggly account of how two eerily-simiar best friends met as assigned roomates their first day of college. (The latter tale struck very close to home in a wonderfully spooky way.)
While many of the stories tugged at the heartstrings, I never felt manipulated by the authors. (Note: Part of the reason why I don't like the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series is that I feel that the authors are just dying to make the reader clutch for the box of tissues.) Rather, I appreciated the "real" tone of the stories, as they read like good conversation shared over a nice pot of Hazlenut coffee.
Some readers have commented on the book's simple language and lack of depth. I don't think the goal here was to explore the psychology of friendship, rather I think it was intended to be a simple and beautiful celebration meant to be enjoyed by "Girlfriends" everywhere. Enjoy!

A Writer Worth ReadingReview Date: 2006-08-09
Your book was amazing, Mr. Gibson. I truly loved it. I was so impressed with the story line. I am a fan of a Soldier's Story, so your analogy of the Sarge aka Joseph Tally was beautiful. Your story touched base on a lot of issues that plague African-Americans today. I know for a fact that many times I feel like Joseph Tally and want to get rid of the "fools" I encounter on a regular basis. By the way, your breakdown of the coyote and roadrunner was "Super Genius".
When reading your book, the question I kept asking of Joseph was "Who gave you the right to judge?" That question often plagued me when watching A Soldier's Story as well. The Foolkiller reminds us of all the residue of slavery that haunts our people, and how we dont even realize it. They say that after a year of being captured, brainwashed and raped, Elizabeth Smart suffered from "Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome", can you imagine what generations of suffering (from the slave trade to now) has done to us?
Your story brought up so many valid points, and it is truly a story that we as a people need to read. Even if one doesn't truly agree with it, it makes you think. Which is vital when reading anything, I believe. Pardon my fragments and grammar. I have not been blessed with the writing skills that you possess. Your wording was filled with so much texture. Even if I wasn't a Harlemite, I would still be able to see and smell what you wrote.
I would just like to thank you for blessing me with that bulletin on MySpace that led to the purchase of a wonderful story. If you have any more let me know, so I can add it to my library.
One more thing. I know why they dont want to publish your book. It was never their intention to teach the slaves or their descendants. Like Fredrick Douglass said, he was free from slavery when he learned how to read. They want to keep us deaf ,dumb and blind. Because if we ever were to wake up, what a war it would be. This is why they just want us to read more Homo Thug, and My life as a prostitute garbage. You are truly talented, Mr. Gibson, and I wish you much success!
Wow.Review Date: 2006-04-21
I especially like the different types of fools discussed in the book. The fools, and the reasons why these characters were fools, is something that isn't often talked about in our community. When it is, it's usually discussed in a holier-than-thou OR you-ain't-better-than-me/us manner. In my opinion, it was discussed in a way that each fool was seen as equally negative.
Hopefully what I just said makes some sense. Great book. My only complaints were that it wasn't long enough (I wanted more more more!) and that I didn't fully understand the ending (was it meant to be understood, though?). I've already recommended it to one person and will be recommending it to many others.
