Bloom Books

This is not a very good C/C++ programming book. I liked the C Toolbox Library, but thats all. The cover is not right; it says:

Featuring ANSI C++; (so far as I know, there was no ANSI C++ in 1993. Very, very little C++ at all)

Three books in one: Tutorial, Reference, Function Library; (I guess thats not too far off)

With in-depth information on GUI, OOP, and dynamic link libraries; (a page or two on drawing boxes to the screen, two pages on OOP, nothing on DLLs.)

Over all, this is not a good book. NOT worth buying.

Since I needed a mouse brain atlas for my work I asked around what others recommend. I went out and bought this product with great expectations. The book is OK, but only shows the coronal sections of the brains. The worst part is the totally useless 4 CD ROM. I am quite familiar with computers and programs but I was not able to use it. Looks like one PhD is not enough to use this very unfriendly program....
If you don't register than you are not able to use the help and other feature. But if you have problem with the registration (as I had) than you are stucked.
The bottom line is: very unfriendly and useless program for the mere 160$. Look elsewhere if you need a brain atlas.

Unfortunately, Dr. Livingston studied the plant nutrients, nitrogen and phorphorus, but ignored the real problem in Perdido Bay - organic enrichment from the paper mill. Dr. Livingston studied Perdido Bay for eleven years and never found that the 5,000 to 6,000 pounds per day of solids that the paper mill discharges into Perdido Bay were having any effect. Rather he concentrated on a much lesser problem of nutrients. Yes, there was and still is eutrophication in Perdido Bay but most of the problem is from paper mill solids.

I've always wanted to write an appreciation of Hart Crane that began, "In this review the word "transumptive" will not be used. The minute it appears in any critique of Hart Crane I immediately close the book in avoidance of the innundation of the "orphics" and "gnostics" that are sure to follow. Hart Crane never used the word, and it only serves to obfuscate the already difficult, but lucid poetry of Hart Crane." Enough said.

While studying John Steinbeck I came across this book and was glad to find a book that treats "In Doubious Battle", "Of Mice and Men", and "The Grapes of Wrath" together in one volume. I was, however, totally disappointed. The book consists of several abstracts of essays that are available elsewhere in full. The selection of essays does not seem to make any sense and the essays are not commented. The aim of author seems to be to make money out of other people's essays. If you want to learn something about John Steinbeck, do not buy this book! Look for essays elsewhere and look for other books. There are better ones!

I ordered this book because you promoted it as a book from James C Bloom. This Mr Bloom is NOT the author I thought he was. This is an entirely different man, not our friend, James C. Bloom. You may have others getting mixed up also. Beware!!
