Great example of Shakespearian Comedy

As always we see the "Love at first sight" theme. The nice change is the character Don John, who seems to merely have been
placed into the story. The reader gets no explaination of his past, but we can conclude that he is determined to ruin the
lives of the other characters. This allows the story to make many unfessable turns making it a great comedy

A TRUE TRAGEDY

Othello relects the true meaning of a tragedy both in its content and its structure.Tragedy is 'a story of exceptional calamity
produced by human actions, leading to the death of a man in high estate.'The downfall of Othello is caused by his own actions,
rather than by his character, or rather the two work in unison to create the stage for his downfall.
This is what captured my attention when I read this play.It is very profound to realize the fact that Shakespeare uses Iago to set this stage on which Othello is a mere player.
I love the character of Iago. His total confidence, the superiority that he feels when psychoanalysing human nature, his rational thinking and intellectualism sways the reader to think: 'Wow, this is a compelling and sophisticated man we're dealing with here!'
However, my admiration of Iago does not in anyway undermine my love of Othello. His poetic and calm demeanor makes the reader feel the pity and terror for him when he falls from grace (catharsis). Yet, we are made to understand that the reason why he is made to appear a gullible and ignorant fool to some readers is that he does not have any knowledge of a delicate, domesticated life. Venetian women were foreign to him. This tragic flaw in Othello added to the circumstances used by Iago to destroy him.
The meaning, and hence the tragedy of the play is conveyed through the use of Shakespeare's language, style, literary devices and imagery. Without these dramatic effects, readers would never be able to enjoy the play as much, although the dialogue is at times difficult to decipher.
I thoroughly enjoyed Othello and it is my hope that more people find it enticing as I have. I would be delighted to contribute more of my reviews to that effect.

great book, several techniqes, good instructions & pictures

This is a great book. Margaret has designed 9 vignettes, including the one on the cover, that display embroidered flowers
in a window box, on a window sill, or surrounding a front door. Five designs have full-sized patterns that can be photocopied,
the other 4 could be created from the photos. There are instructions for 25 flowers and plants and diagrams for over 20 stitches.
Nearly every page has one or two "tips," many of the sort that only come from doing it wrong once and learning not to do that
again.
What is neat about these designs is that the backgrounds are painted on silk or cotton, and she gives instructions on how to do this to the point that it looks really easy. She covers materials, preparations, heat setting, design transfer, all the things you need, and discusses bricks, stone, stucco, wood siding, and several different window frames. If the idea of painting is intimidating, Margaret points you to all the "architectural" quilting fabrics currently available.
If you need step-by-step, hold my hand instructions, you might not like this book. The instructions are very good, but this is not a book that I would recommend for a novice. However, if you have even a small amount of embroidery experience, I would definitely recommend it, if only for the inspiration it will provide for your to continue work on perfecting your technique.
All in all, this book has good instruction and pictures, tips, and projects that are not your run of the mill embroidery in the middle of a blank piece of fabric. If you don't like any of the specific projects, there is enough information that you could even take a picture of your own window boxes and recreate them in embroidery! I'm very glad to have it in my library.

My First Grader Loved This Book!!

I just got finished reading this delightful book to my first grade boy. It is the first in a new series. We have read a lot
of books together such as Arthur, the Magic Tree House, A-Z Mysteries etc. It is exciting to find a new series of books that
he absolutely loves. His eyes never left the page.
I am sure the story will capture your child's attention from the first page. The plot quickly moves from the main characters (three children) talking about their loss in a soccer game earlier that day to the discovery of a magical world under their bed. In this world, a charming rabbit, Mr. Oh, leads the children through a magical land where they discover that each of them has a special gift to give to others and that each of them is "wonderfully made."
Not only is the writing first-rate, but the illustrations are vivid and jump off of the page. The illustrator is able to convey what the story is telling in a very colorful and exciting way. My child and I could not wait to turn the page to see what the next picture was.
If you are looking for a very creative story that teaches lessons about character with wonderful pictures, you need to read this book!

Along with A.C. Bradley Bloom is a critic who puts at the center human character. Reading Bloom on 'Hamlet's is getting both real understanding of what 'Hamlet' is and a fuller meaning of what the 'human' means.
