While this book is aimed at children, adults will probably enjoy reading about the crazy situations that appear in it. The eleven year old protagonist, Pokey Bloom, loves to enter as many contests as she can in hopes of finally striking it rich. The book's scenes involving her family life are very humorous and well-written. Pokey's older brother has suddenly become a radical vegetarian who espouses yoga, health food and clean living while Pokey's father spends all his free time trying to fix their leaky bathtub. Pokey manages to get herself in some crazy situations and one especially funny scene takes place when she decides to sell greeting cards door-to-door (keep you eyes open for the scene involving Mrs. Stern). I hope this book gets reprinted and made available for wide distribution because it is a real pleasure to read and reread.

Definitely a great tool for teaching Shakespeare!

I purchased this item with several other books regarding William Shakespeare's Macbeth. This is the best Macbeth version out there for those who want to read and understand Macbeth. The pages have plenty of space to write notes and every scene is explained in regular words for those who are having difficulty with the material. Besides the book, the CD-rom is its best feature with games and tests. It makes it easier for adults and not just kids. If you're wondering how to approach Macbeth to even the difficult and the challenged students, this will be the best 14 bucks you ever spent. Don't be a fool! It's a bargain at that price. I remember reading Shakespeare's plays in books with plenty of footnotes to only complicate matters.

After reading this book, children write letters to the main character, Johnny Readingseed, about why they like to read and what they like to read. In the past 15 years, over 5000 letters have come in, as the address is printed on the last page of the book. There's a website now, too, with more information about the character that has been created: http://readingseed.blogspot.com

an excellent book for the blues/jazz guitarist looking for an escape route from the standard root 6 & 5-type voicings, in this case to a very melodic, frequently dissonent, type of voicing largely built on 2nds. the mind boggles at the voice leading potential in the chords presented. also addresses rhythmic attack within the twelve bar format. requires dexterity. doesn't discuss scales beyond harmonizing them for the purpose of this melodic approach. looks fun to play over though.

highly recommended, as is the minor blues vol.I.

This is easily the most impactful book I have ever read. It is brilliant, in every sense of the word. Every woman should own a copy! "Progressed" men will benefit, too. If you can avoid reading the reviews of this book that describe the whole thing, you'll enjoy it a lot more. I hate when people tell me the story before I get a chance to read it. Be prepared, this book has a strong message.

Once again the editor has managed to gather the best literary minds together to develop a collection of literary essays on one of the classics of American literature; we are able to visually see the development of the novel as Twain (Clemens) would have wanted it understood. Bravo, Harold Bloom

Mary Engelbreit's unique, inimitable art style is wonderful and this calendar is a nice sampling of her gifts. Compact in size, but large enough to write notes on, it's perfect for any amount of wall space.

Mary Shelley's Frankenstein was a novel that took me into the world of Victor Frankenstein. I could picture the look on Victor's face when he first layed eyes on his creation. The way the creature was described in the book painted a picture in my mind of how the creature looked. All of the in depth descriptions in this book made it an action packed thriller. I would recomend this book to anybody who likes suspense. I thouroughly enjoyed reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.

I waited more than 15 years to read the last 2 books in this series. Got the 1st one with an old Commodore 64 game.
