I might be more influenced by this book since I have already read Swami Rama's other books like 'Living with Himalayan Masters'.

Being a father of 2 kids who are smart, very active and sensitive, I think in this book Swami Rama presents his observations and take on this in black and white.

I would have really like to have read this book before we decided to have kids, or at least as soon as we had the first one. It would have set the expectations straight and influenced things in the right way. I totally regret that I didn't.

This book really highlight show important being a parent is, how kids teach us to look beyond our materialistic, self-centered nature and how the whole generation and generation of kids are so dependent on today's parents. We were all kids, and in many ways still are, we often forget that.

Beware, how much you agree or disagree with the teachings (yes, teachings) in this book totally depends on where you are in your spiritual quest. This is not a book of instructions, tips and tricks that are temporary, rather a suggestion on permanent life style that will last forever, not just in bringing up kids, but in everything.

Celebrating LIFE with flowers

This book made me think about both the beauty of flowers and people. The author is a professional designer who shares his love of flowers and floral designing. He explains how people use flowers for all kinds of occasions and how to design bouquets to express feelings. This is an excellent, well-written book that is very helpful and informative.

Best Book Ever With A Story By Me In It

I have read several books in my life, but this one was truly different because it has a story in it by me. My story is called "Playing the Sax," and I wrote it when I was a sophomore in college. It's sandwiched in between E. B. White and Dorothy Parker, so the sour taste of amateur writing is masked a bit if you read the material on either side.

Next time I will write a story about what I did with the $25 the publisher paid me.

I just read this book after my nine year old daughter asked to renew it versus returning it to the library. She said it was funny and she suggested I read it. It's a delightful story about the bad days we all have from time to time. Lila shows us how unexpectedly your mood can change from not so good to WOW! I only wish the author had chosen to create a series of books about Lila. I would love to follow the life of this spirited litttle girl.

Susan Kepner has put together a beautiful collection of stories written by Thai female writers. The book touches on many facets of life for Thai women. Some are brutally honest and some incredibly humorous. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in women's studies in Southeast Asia, and specifically Thailand.

At a glance this is a light weight book that might not appeal to some people who would find it helpful. The simple, joyful illustrations and the suggested actions are sources of healing. I was sorry to come to the end of this journal.

Namu Amida Butsu

The reader from North Carolina makes a good case for reading book jackets: in this case the subtitle "Essays on Shin Buddhism." While Amida is not tangential to these essays, the subject matter is eternal life in the Infinite Light of Amida Buddha. This is a very different matter than approaching Amitabha/Amitayus as a deity or a member of a pantheon of buddhas, which, perhaps, is what the reader was after.

LIVING IN AMIDA'S UNIVERSAL VOW is not an introductory text on either Buddhism in general or Shin Buddhism in particular. It assumes a basic familiarity with the subject of Shin; more, it presumes that one is already engaged with the Universal Vow and is seeking to deepen and broaden one's appreciation of its scope.

Some of the essays are easier reading than others; some are more personal and intimate than others. Shin is a subtle practice, easy on the one hand, harder than you might imagine on the other. It has not received the attention paid to Zen, Vipassana or Tibetan Buddhism, therefore it has not had to lively up its presentation for American consumption. Perhaps because of that, Shin's evolution in the West has been more organic, more private, and more painful.

By presenting this book, Dr. Bloom has opened Shin studies to a wider readership, one which may be prepared to accept Shin on its own terms as a practice of faith, different from Zen or Vipassana or Vajrayana, but perhaps more suited for those of us acutely aware of our passion-bound finitude.

Love In Bloom- A Joyfully Recommended Title

Life can change in an instant, and no one knows that better than Claire Wilson. The beautiful photographer had it all: a burgeoning career, a handsome boyfriend, and a bright future. Then a devastating car accident shatters Claire's dreams and leaves her suffering from psychological blindness.
Landscaper Jackson Akers has been hired to redesign Claire's yard, and that's exactly what he intends to do - even if his client is hostile, withdrawn, and rude. Yet despite Claire's standoffish behavior, Jackson is determined to create a garden of sensory delights that will bring Claire out of her self-imposed isolation. Will Claire learn what it means to really live again? And with friendship forming and desire blossoming between the blind photographer and the single dad, can love be far behind?

It is rare to find a book that is, quite simply, beautiful. Love in Bloom is a charming, touching tale of love, trust, patience, and healing. Jackson is everything a hero should be - strong, determined, kind, and completely delicious. Claire is a lively, independent woman who has lost her way and who I rooted for to find her true self once more. On their own, both Jackson and Claire are incredibly likeable characters. Together, they will claim your heart, and I dare anyone not to fall in love with Jackson's young daughter, Emma.
For a romantic, irresistible story that makes you believe in happily ever afters, look no further than Love in Bloom. Weeks later, I still find myself smiling over the book - a testament to Jules Bennett's superb storytelling skills. I Joyfully Recommend Love in Bloom and am excited to read more of Ms. Bennett's work. Simply perfect!

If you're looking for a feel good-often humorous read you will love this book. Twenty highly talented authors have written short stories and poems about different types of love they have experienced. It's appropriate for men and women of all ages-my Mom enjoyed it, my husband welled up over a couple of the stories, and my nieces said it was awesome.
