This book not only has great recipes but some really wonderful information. It helps understand the ingredients used, the tools necessary and some great techniques for making the best cookies. I am really glad I got this book. Living abroad makes it a bit more difficult to find some of the ingredients but the ingredient substitutions cheat sheet and the measurement equivalents (sticks of butter are not available everywhere you know)still allowed me to enjoy the recipes.

This book combines the seemingly incompatible: it is spiritual, practical and amusing to read at the same time. The author has years of experience of meeting God in prayer and he shares it with you in a way that makes you feel God so close that the moment you put the book down you want to try...

I loved this book, for many reasons - besides being entertaining and an enjoyable read (with great illustrations that convey the expressions of the characters so well!), I liked the idea of stereotypes being disproven - we think that all cats hate mice. It's refreshing to see that isn't ALWAYS true. Might this be true of stereotyped people, too? Also - Crackers wants a job - he tries, fails, but tries again... and again... and finally, despite the impracticality and improbability of it, he gets a job that he LOVES. He doesn't give up, and he doesn't change himself to fit in where he's not happy. I think that's a great lesson to kids that they can do anything they want to do; they just need to keep trying, and keep trying again until they find their unique niche in the world where they can do their best and be their best.

A neat book giving details of the early area difficult to find elsewhere. Jan has a great writing style that's informative and easy to read and her book contains many vintage photos with views I have not previously seen. I just wish there was more! Nice meeting you at the Monarch!

Summary: Includes bibliographies of the 296 authors covered in the Critical Persepctives series, a complete table of contents of each chapter in the series, an alphabetical index to the authors covered, and an index to the critics.

It's a shame that this great book is out of print. It's hiliarious and will appeal to kids much more than more traditional methods of teaching poetry. I plan on using it as the centerpiece of a poetry unit for sixth grade.

John Keats (5934-0, $19.95) adds to the research guides in the 'Major Poets' series, blending a biography with extracts of major critical essays examining the poet's works. New to the Major Short Story Writers series ($19.95 each) is D. H. Lawrence (5947-2) and Henry James (5943-X), which use similar approaches to examine the major themes and ideas of each writer. All are recommended as basic library acquisitions.

I have purchaed a 16 volume set written by Daniel Dafoe. the titles are "The Romances and Narratives by Daniel Dafoe" Edited by George A Aitkens. The first vol. is entitled " The Suprising Adventures of Robinson Crusoe"

Please give me some information as to the rareness and the value of these antique books.
