I am delighted to see at least some of the Monster Books being re-released! I have been teaching remedial reading for almost 20 years and these books have been a centerpiece of my second grade program. I have even made a large stuffed purple monster to go with the books. The kids love to read the Monster books to Monster and to chart their progress and receive an award and prize when they complete the set. I wish both Set I and Set II would be reprinted as my copies in both sets are wearing out and I can't imagine teaching reading without them. The kids love them and Monster's quirky antics are not dated in spite of the 20 years that have passed since the books were first published by Bowmar.

I remember reading the Monster series when I was in first grade. I especially remember the one where the monster had a giant umbrella filled with water and the boy went swimming in it. I was wondering if these books were still in existence, and I'm glad to find they are.

My kids thoroughly enjoyed this book. i think all parents should purchase this item and use frequently. Their kids will never again be afraid of monsters. They will see that inside everything is kind and easy to draw for that matter.

What a wonderful book. Smart, gentle, extremely funny and totally inoffensive, this is the sort of book you can encourage just about any kid to read. It's formatted in chapters, but it really functions as a series of short stories, and its wonderful language makes it easily accessible to kids from preschool to middle-grades, and its sophisticated sense of humor makes it appealing even up into adulthood. A great book for anyone.

Move IT! - office moves
Helpful Votes: 2 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2001-03-29
This is the definitive `how-to' guide for anyone involved in office moves or data center moves. The book gives concise and clear instructions on how to plan the physical move, organise the people, manage the communications and move the computing services. All aspects are covered, from seating positions to data communications. The book is conversational and practical, rather than being a dry management checklist. The author is an experienced practitioner who has used the described methods in the real world.

The book is suitable for people with responsibility for IS/IT or Facilities, or anyone who is planning to relocate their office or business.

MR. EVIL... I THINK NOT

A great novel to read for interest of human behaviour and true crime. I found it on both levels a 'tell a friend' book. I have I just cant give my copy out. I feel the need to connect with David and if given the chance I would. I also feel that it was not evil in him but all psycho problematic individuals start off being anti-social and this was very obvious to me from when he was young. So indeed I feel sympathy for David thus he was a loner with low self-esteem. The book identifies him as 'crazy' and yes at one point he did turn that way as we can too. The mind is a very powerful tool and he lied to himself and believed it. We all lie to ourselves about something now and then dont we. Mr. Evil is not evil nor is he psycho. He believed in past happenings that he did not let go thus forcing his brain into that state. Given a proper start I believe he could be , and was, your average 'person'. I LOVED THIS BOOK AND ANALIZING HIM. I WISH ONE DAY TO MEET THE MAN HIDING BEHIND A COLD MASK OF HATRED WHICH IS [not real]

Except for the Price!

This is an indispensible book for performers and students of the Lauda repertory of Renaissance Florence, but such people probably already know about it. Except for the price, I'd recommend it strongly to anyone interested in social history or in the social structure of the Catholic Church during the Renaissance. The "confraternities", for whom the lauda songbooks were prepared, were a central and powerful community within the church and the life of the city, and they have their counterparts in the rest of Europe in the same era. Blake Wilson writes very cleanly, and assumes little, so it would be possible for musically illiterate readers to follow everything he describes. Perhaps recourse to your local library would be in order.

The best Cookery Book ever written
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-03-11
Twenty years ago there didn't seem to be a rush to get the book out, or indeed the follow up as soon as a chef did a television appearance. Consequently you'll find this book carefully measured and thoroughly thought through, barely a superflous word in the entire book.
The result is a road map of exquisite taste for life and I will never be without mine even though at 20 years old, it's falling apart from constant reference.
Yes some of the recipe's are complex, it's not an everyday cookbook but the sublime results are worth it. Having said that, it is also a very simple book of irrefutable cooking truths. It's a joy to be educated by the master, now sadly retired, who not only tells you how but why.
You couldn't do yourself a greater culinary service than to get a copy of this book and find the font that many a celebrity chef sprang from!

Great Anthology

Review Date: 2006-04-13
I read Marcus Blake's, the music of life. It was a great book and entertaining story, but Marcus Blake has definitely topped himself this time. In this book is supposed to be a collection of his earlier works. All the stories are good and true, some of them even made me cry. The poetry is very beautiful even though some of it you have to read it more than once to find all of Mr. Blake's hidden meanings, but very good and inspiring anyway. His essay on the American experience is the one thing that truly inspired me because he seems to grasp a very harsh in realistic tone of what America is and what is the experience of being an American. If overall this book is very good and if you are a fan of this writer definitely a book worth having. It's a book worth having regardless of liking any of his other stories.

Gaddafi's World View in Theory
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2008-09-17
This book discusses Gaddafi's view of the world in theory and his belief in how his Green Book has been implemented in practice in Libya. His ideas of the world's problems, it's causes and how they can be dealt with are unique. Gaddafi has never been afraid to criticize and his frankness has met with mixed feelings as to whether he is a hero or villain. Edmond Jouve, the author of this book, is a respected professor in Paris and he has captured the essence of Gaddafi quite remarkably. One could say that he would appear to be an admirer. Jouve not only speaks directly to the great man himself, but to those close to him; his only daughter Aicha Qaddafi, is an important and rare example of those who cooperated in the writing of this book. This is a must for those with an interest in African and Middle Eastern politics and of one of the region's most controversial and tenured leaders.
