I checked this out from the local library a couple years ago, went to find it at numerous book stores only to learn it was
out of print. Amazon was able to find it, it is a wonderful coffee table book, anyone that opens it becomes glued to it.
The photographs are beautiful, the stories are great to read. It comes with maps detailing miles of old timber rails, I have
been able to find some of the old grades using the maps. If your a railroad buff, this is a must have!!

London Transport celebrated fifty years of existence as a bus and tube operator in 1983, never for a moment realising it would
expire shabbily eleven years later. Superb events were laid on comprising the repaint of buses into classic liveries, culminating
in the spectacular event at Aldenham Bus Overhaul Works, which would close in three years. Meanwhile the Routemaster was under
attack and tube stock was being updated. Jim Blake is the author of several London bus books, with a colossal photo library
to stock them with. His books have a rich grasp of local history which gives life to the minutiae enthusiasts demand

Charmingly written and colorfully illustrated by Quentin Blake, Loveykins is the whimsical and delightful story of an overprotective
woman who finds a baby bird blown out of its nest, and does her best to raise him - but who overindulges to an excessive degree,
even taking her "loveykins" out for walks in a baby stroller! When a storm brings the opportunity for the grown-up bird to
fly free, it changes both their lives forever in this thoughtful and recommended picture book story about growing up and letting
go.

SO MUCH FUN! I think that what makes Anita so interesting is that she NEVER gives up. Some would say that she really just
needs to relax and have fun SOMETIMES instead of working every second, but that's what gives her a real conscience. I have
read the first four books and am impressed. She makes the vampires look wimpy! Empowered vampire slayers ARE a little intimidating,
but they should be.

Word for the wise

Dr. Harding's book, The Magic of Christmas/Christmas Unwrapped/X-mas Files is a fantastic and well researched book. Word to
the wise. The Magic of Christmas is identical to Christmas Unwrapped and the X-mas Files by the same author. The publisher,
for some unknown and absurd reason, republished this book under three different titles with three different publication dates.
The overall theme of the book is excellent for showing the Amanita muscaria mushroom/shamanic origins of the Christmas story and even goes into some archaeoastronomy.
Much of this same information has been revealed by James Arthur in Mushrooms and Mankind and by James Bursenos in The Resurrection of Santa Claus - (republished) Shaman's Drum Issue 68, 2005. Dr. Harding was probably the first to discover the information, and probably the last to go to print with it. James Arthur (2000) uses many of the same associations in his book (with no references - plagiarism?) and radio shows that he very likely took "some" material from Harding. Harding's book(s) are far better and more readable than James Highfield - The Physics of Christmas (1998), etc., which bases much of the work on Harding, though strays off numerous times into unrelated material.
However, save your money and only buy one of the 3 different versions of the book. I'm glad I needed extra Christmas presents, but I was actually looking forward to reading "further" research by Dr. Harding, not the same book under three different titles. I'm very disappointed in the deceptive tactics of his publisher not informing the public that they're all the same damn book. They don't even appear to be different editions. Same material, same page numbers, same everything page for page.
Buy it, but only buy one.

A brilliant analysis of managerial behavior

I have been using the Blake & Mouton managerial grid for years, but only recently did I discover that they wrote a book about
it! It has been through 19 printings, and it is excellent.
The managerial grid is visually represented by a quadrant with "task orientation" on the X axis and "social orientation" on the Y axis. A person might be in the lower right quadrant indicating an obsession with getting the job done and indifference to people and relationships--the command-and-control mentality.
Or he might be in the upper left quadrant indicating that he considers relationships indispensable and productivity expendable--the country club mentality.
He could also be anywhere on the grid. This seems so obvious and intuitive that I accepted my own guidance in terms of interpreting the grid. That was my loss, until I found this book.
The beauty of this book is that the authors, using a tremendous amount of research, describe the behaviors, assumptions, and motivations of managers and employees in all the grid's quadrants.
The one I found most informative was the middle-of-the-road managers. The authors clearly delineate how such people obsess on safety, how they take the pulse of their organization before they take a stand. They dismantle conflict without any concern for getting to its root cause or using it as an opportunity to learn something about the opposing forces in their organization. These middle folk only give lip service to creativity, and their highest priority is simply to fit in and to be known as a "good people."
This is an extraordinarily valuable book, and the fact that it is available used, for a penny a copy, is one of life's little ironies.

I'm a big fan of Laurell K. Hamilton, and as soon as I found out that she was making comics based on her Anita Blake series
I was excited. I began collecting all the comics as well as the novels. Then I found the handbook which is a guide to the
Anita Blake world and I just had to have it. I found the book to be very helpful. I not only told about the characters but
the city and it's businesses as well. It allows you to be able to read the comics and novels with a better understanding and
I feel that I can get into the book more. I would highly recommend this for anyone.

This manual has been a great help while working on my math homework. If I have difficulty working out a problem, I can open
up the manual in which the entire problem is worked out, not simply the answer. This is a great manual for would-be teachers
that are non-math majors.
