Romance, drama, and the unbreakable bond between sisters and friends are just a few of the themes in this book. Susan & Christine Pratt switch places to try to find out what the other's life is like and both have adventures and mishaps all along the way. Any girl would love this series and it all begins with this book.

Truly enjoyed this book from Library. Would like a copy to own and re-read. The author is my neice and feel she has done a remarkable job on this Art of Quilting.

Any dedicated angler seeking to fish the waters of North Carolina and wanting to know where the fish are to be found, where to put their boat, which lures produce the most successful results would do well to begin by a thorough reading of Buck Paysour's superb compendium of information and advice, Bass Fishing In North Carolina. Also highly recommended for the angler's bookshelf is Buck Paysour's earlier book, Fly Fishing In North Carolina.

An unusual approach to a cookbook. Tells you how to catch it or buy it, clean it and cook it with humorous stories to bring it alive (the book not the seafood!) The book is delightfully illustrated by renowned artist Claude Howell giving this cookbook a different look. This cookbook is a must for your kitchen whether you are the cook or not. It is such a shame that it is no longer in print. It was my favorite gift for every newlywed couple I knew.

I am not sure if this has gone past the third edition. I am searching for a more recent version and only hope I can find one. The photographs are wonderful; the descriptions enticing. This is a super guide for anyone looking for bed and breakfast accommodations in Virginia. I am a B&B nut and frequently refer to this book. If anyone hasn't yet stayed in a B&B, they will once they look through this publication! A note to the publishers: please update this soon!

As Middle Tennessee transplant and new cyclist I was reluctant to get out of my neighborhood till reading this book. The format was clear and I could venture out without risking getting totally lost or on some super dangerous roadway. The commentary that accompanies each route lends interest to the rides and the numerous hints and guides for more information in the back were extremely helpful. This book is worth reading even for an experienced cycling native Nashvillian.

This book is an excellent source for seeing the experience of apartheid from which the theory of black consciousness emerged. Biko lucidly articulates both the people and the regime he found himself in conflict with, and parallel's between his appraisal and his idea's are made clear. A must read for anyone who wants to get a full understanding of black consciousness.

"The Blackwell Encyclopaedia of Anglo-Saxon England", edited by Lapidge, Blair, Keynes and Scragg, is a collection of 700 articles by 150 different scholars, covering almost every conceivable aspect of political and social life between the Roman departure from Britain and the Norman Conquest.

The articles cover subjects in political, social, economic and ecclesiastical history, linguistics, literature, archaeology, historiography, and even science (for example the article on Astronomy). The material is not heavy-going either: each piece is concisely written, covering on average less than half a page (although some extend to as much as two), which is long enough to provide an introduction to a topic without being overloaded with detail. In addition, every topic is followed by its own mini-bibliography, which opens up possibilities for further research - although this may be more of use for students than the lay reader, since many of the references point to academic journals rather than general texts.

Context is provided by a comprehensive and highly useful list of the rulers of the English kingdoms, as well as four pages of maps demonstrating the changes in England's political landscape over these centuries. The Encyclopaedia is organised in alphabetical format, making navigation easy, and all the articles are extensively cross-referenced. A further useful feature is the index, which classifies all 700 pieces by subject, so that it is possible at a glance to find all articles on, for example, art and architecture, or language, or kings and queens.

All in all, the "The Blackwell Encyclopaedia of Anglo-Saxon England" is a tremendous resource. For students it will prove an excellent first port of call when engaging with the academic literature, as I found out when studying at university. For the casual reader with an interest in the period, there is much that can be learnt simply by dipping into the material, although for someone approaching Anglo-Saxon history for the first time, it might be more worthwhile beginning with a conventional narrative account of the period - such as John Blair's "The Anglo-Saxon Age: A Very Short Introduction", or Frank Stenton's "Anglo-Saxon England".
