This book is amazing. It's the best non-fiction that I've read in years; it's as chilling as an action packed fiction book. The footnotes and sources take up about a 1/3 of the book; read all of the archived documents!

I discovered this book two years ago at our local library after I saw the documentary on public TV. I've read it twice.

It's helped inspire me to remember that 1 person really can make a difference, even if our contributions are a lot less! We can't take our freedoms for granted!

Enlightening!

"When Truth Was Treason" gives an important look into the experience of some of the German people under the control of the Nazi State during the atrocities taking place in Germany during World War II. I especially enjoyed the added information included in the extensive footnote section at the end of the book. I appreciate the opportunity to know of the heroism of some of those who resisted the evil of Hitler. This is a moving account of a side of the history of World War II we are often completely unaware of.

Its a documentary!

This book tells it like is, no holds barred. Anyone who has Chronic Fatigue Immune Deregulation Syndrome (CFIDS), Fibromylagia, Gulf War Syndrome, MS, etc this is a must have for their bookshelf and reference library. Our thoughts become images thus resulting in chronic illnesses passed on to generations. One might think themselves sick and become sick. The scary part is that it is all true. What we think, we become.

Fascinating and compelling.

This book is absolutely fascinating. You will be amazed by the evidence Dr. Justice presents of the amazing effects of how the human mind can cause sickness or promote health. Not a "heavy" read, it is enjoyable and compelling, while delivery accurate, well researched scientific facts. Highly recommended.

THE primer on mind-body healing

Dr. Justice's book is an excellent summary in non-technical language of the interconnections between mind and body and their effects on health. Thoroughly researched, broad in scope and reader friendly, this is both a good solid introduction to the field of psychoneuroimunology, and an excellent reference source of information. I would find it difficult to believe that anyone with an honest interest in healing would not find something between the covers that was usefull and relevant.

For a more technical and theoretical work, check out "The psychobiology of mind-body healing", by Rossi.

A great basic primer on the United States Constitution

I bought this book in high school school in 1956 for a Problems in American Democracy course. I have used it in high school, college Constitutional Law courses, law school courses and the practice of law. It breaks the Constitution down almost word for word and restates it in easy, simple layman's terms. It tells you why the phrase is there, what the citizen gives up under it and what the citizen receives in benefits from it. It alows you to find and understand specific sections of the Constitution and how they apply to you. Every American should have and study this book. It is the best simple explination of this complex subject I have ever seen. The fact that it is out of print and not available, particularly to young students, is a sorry comment on our society.

I wish they'd Reprint this one.

I borrowed this book from the Library and love it so much I wanted to buy one to keep readily available. I hope somebody decides to reprint this one. I'd love a copy of my own. It breaks down the Constitution into bite sized pieces into something even I can understand.

As a young boy - nobody could believe the a family member of mine wrote this book. I used it in government class in Junior High and High School in the 1970's. This book should still be required reading by every student in the United States

I use this book to keep motivated. Find it helpful with the change process. Looks at all aspects of activity and has very helpful forms to keep track of progress in specific areas. Feel photos need to be updated. Gives impression this is "old" information. Size of typeface is good and love the algorhythims. Disappointed that pain is not mentioned as a barrier as this is a very common problem for people who are inactive. On the copy I received the cover says, "20 Steps to Lifelong Vitality" as opposed to 20 weeks.

The only exercise book you'll ever need.

I don't normally buy how-to books. But a friend recommended this book, and now I'm recommending it to everyone I know. Everyone talks about how important it is to get exercise. But what if you're not the sort of person who has the time or wants to go to a gym? That's why this book is so helpful. It's a week by week guide to adding physical activity to your day to day life. It talks about the obstacles that get in the way, and how to get around them. It's full of stories of people who have faced the same problems and have found ways around them to become more physically active. For me one of the most helpful parts was learning how to measure how much exercise I get and then shoot for more. This is a really useful and inspiring book for anyone who knows they need to get more exercise but doesn't know how.

OPRAH SHOULD READ IT

Review Date: 2000-05-12
I'm grateful this little-known book reached my hands. It's set in the southern U.S. during the depression. The author has a stong sense of place and the book seems both driven by the character of the town and of the individuals depicted. Its told in different voices (1st person) and its greatest strength is the compassion and fullness with which the author has treated even the worst of characters. This is a dark love-story. A good choice for a book club because it addresses (without being overly topical) several issues such as domestic violence and how childhood experience may inform adult choices. This is no "clicheish" southern novel. The author writes the accents with the perfect pitch. Her skill at creating a "voice" reminded me a bit of Zora Neale Hurston, although for the most part the voices are of a white southern dialect.

Perhaps the saddest book I've ever read

Bethany is fortunate to have relatives who care for her so much but she fails to appreciate their advice to her as she plunges head-long into a relationship that is doomed from the start. The sad part is that this could be the story of many young girls who are blinded by a love so powerful that they disregard opportunities that seem at the time to be less exciting. If the story had ended a few chapters earlier, I couldn't have stood it but fortunately the reader is left with a feeling of hope for Bethany's future.

I grew up in South Carolina. As a kid, my dad and I spent countless hours walking plowed fields in search of native american artifacts. I am now a resident of Raleigh, North Carolina. I knew there was a rich native american history here in North Carolina, but I knew nothing of the diversity of tribes that were here, particularly before the early English settlements. This is a fantastic book. It is well written, easy to follow, and contains great excerpts from historical documents. It was written by a Moravian minister, so the writing style is a little more conversational and a lot less "dry" than many history texts.

This hardcover makes you feel like you're right inside an Amish home. I loved the home birth, their education in a one-room school and the way they have church and lunch at somebody's house. I never realized all the ways they shared in their community. The author and photographer must have spent a lot of time with the Amish to do such a good book. The beautiful pictures made me want to visit the Amish
