An excellent school counselor resource that is thorough & easy to read. Should be a required text for all college school counselor education programs. I am currently using it as part of my college Post-Master's School Counselor's State Certification program. Again, excellent.

This isn't just another pretty coffee table book. The spectacular images of marine life in concert with the vivid and informative writting connect the reader to a fascinating underwater world. You will look at the pictures and re-read the text 1,000 times, discovering the authors' passion for complex sea life. I've given this book as a gift and, without exception, the recipents have been enthralled

Much like the Discoveries series books, this book had phenomenal pictures, and a wonderful documentary materials section in the back. The pages are the nice glossy kind too... okay, so enough about the aesthetics...

The content was so educational, spanning all of history and discussing the relationship between sexual activities and spirituality / religion. This book covers so much, so I will simply list the chapter heading, and give a little synopsis of each one.

Very Explicit, Very, Very Good...Enjoy!

The authors take us from puberty, to growth and adulthood. It leaves no subject untouched from the male and female differences to homosexuality, to the human idea of beauty and the specifics of growth, sexual organs, practices in different parts of the world, to diseases, conception and ultimately birth.

It is extremely detailed as it leaves no stone unturned. A book one would not put down as it explains different types of sexualities and practices throughout the world. I found the book extremely imformative, intriguing and not just from an erotic point of view, but from an informational one as well. The book explains sexual practices from kissing to masturbation, to locales where sexuality is only practiced as a means to procreate.

I found that it was well organized in sections and it also dealt with other parts of sexuality one would not think it to include, such as types of loves and relationships, feelings, marriage, monogamy, anger, rape, cults and infidelity.

The book also explained the different types of desires per culture or fetishists...very detailed, lots of information, would recommend to anyone who is very interested in male-female sexuality. This book is not only erotically eye-opening but clinically satisfying, as it explains variations of sexuality that many do not imagine take place...even those who are well read on the subject! Excellent!

Setting the record straight.

(The numerical rating above is required by the new Amazon format. It is offensive to this reviewer and explicitly disavowed.)

Joe Rosenthal's famous photo of the (second) flag-raising on Suribachi was such a singularly powerful allegorical image that it became a sort of Rorschach Test of attitudes, with viewers assigning values to it that have had more to do with their own prejudices that the event itself.

Albee and Freeman carefully reexamine the history and controversy to show that while the "Sands of Iwo Jima" movie version of history is not accurate, accusations of staging the famous photo are baseless and a slander on Rosenthal, a modest and honest man.

With maps, bibliography, index, and a remarkable series of photos with analysis, which when carefully examined unmistakably support the author's narrative of the events, and in no way disparage the courage of the men on that bleak and windswept mountaintop.

A very good analytical survey of recent work
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 2 total.
Review Date: 2001-10-02
...Undeterred, I nevertheless wish to recommend it. It should, in fact, be in every university library at least, and most scholars would benefit greatly from reading it. I have myself bought a copy, and am very pleased with it. The contributors are on the whole very much in the forefront of Shakespeare scholarship, and write about their subject with great authority and acumen. Each scholar surveys an area of work on Shakespeare, which creates a sensible division of labour, and allows the individual concerned not only to outline the major developments of recent times, but to do so analytically and critically, so that the reader not only finds out what has happened, but also what at least one skilled reader has to say about it. Future volumes will adopt a similar approach, so that over time we should get a pretty full picture of developments in Shakespeare studies in recent years. As noone can - or would indeed be happy to - read ALL work on Shakespeare, even as it appears, it will remain necessary for all of us to receive guidance from informed scholars who have each intelligently read at least a well-defined PORTION of it over a number of years. That is the guidance which this book provides, and eminently so. - Joost Daalder, Professor of English, Flinders University (South Australia)

This series should reshape the canon in a number of significant areas. William Sheidley and Simon McKeown conduct their ambitious study with unflagging energy, great enthusiasm, and immense erudition. An intelligent and authoritative text, this is indeed a splendid and imaginative project.

Map out the landscapes of the human heart and mind

Collectively, the poetry by Beth Bishop as compiled in "Shouldering Zero" map out the landscapes of the human heart and mind as she deftly explores through a lyrical poetic license a diversity of subjects, themes, and issues. When a town is taken over

Review Date: 2007-05-09
Showdown at Deer Creek is Bishop's second novel and the best of his three so far published. Deep Creek Sheriff Lane Tipton, enroute to Fort Worth with two prisoners, leaves his town in the capable hands of his deputy but eventually returns to find Deer Creek in the hands of brutally cold-blooded killers just waiting for his return. His fiance, Becky Townsend, is a hostage. How can Lane free her and the other townspeople without great loss of life. It takes Bear Townsend and his ranch crew to help Lane take care of the killers but in a real twist, Becky (fast gun that she is) takes care of the arch-villain, Blackie Getts. Don't miss this one.
