This book offers an insight into the life of vampires and other creatures of the night in cities around the world. The book focuses on the larger cities like L.A., Berlin and of course, New York. A wonderful source for learning about the people, socities and groups behind the darkness in these cities. This sourcebook is very well written and is a pleasure to read. This is a must have for urban-based scenarios.

The truths discussed in this book in 2003 have continued to become more and more important to the ( hopeful ) recovery of our nation.

A good starting point is to read this clear and accessible work.

It should be read by all. Highly recommended.

Cindy Berry has done a beautiful job melding classical themes in with classic hymns. I have nothing bad to say about the book. It is a superb piece of music, but I wanted to leave room for improvement, as she has done in Classical Hymns and Hymns with a Classical Touch. I would strongly suggest all three for any intermediate and above pianist. The melody is clear without losing any classical feel. As always some songs are better than others, but even the "others" songs are worth playing!

Growing and Growing Up in Maine...
Helpful Votes: 0 out of 0 total.
Review Date: 2008-03-09
1999's "Clyde Found Fruitflies in the Berries" is an engaging memoir, by Dale C. Lincoln, the "Clyde" of the title, of growing up in the State of Maine, from the 1940's to the 1990's.

"Clyde" is told in the third person, which allows the author to add amplifying detail to what otherwise might be completely opaque experiences to someone not from Maine. Clyde is an observant person who captures the realities, good and bad, of a youth spent in the small rural town of Perry. Clyde will go on to graduate from the Maine Maritime Academy, serve in the United States Navy, and come home to teach in various public schools in Maine. Along the way, he describes in often delightful detail the simple but vibrant lives of his fellow Maine citizens.

This book is a well-written story about an ordinary life well-lived. It is highly recommended to those looking for an authentic slice of once-upon-a-time in Maine.

I was immediately drawn to this book in the "Get Over It!" series of Joy Berry because it said exactly what I would have liked to say to comfort my 11-year-old son. He went through some of these "crises" such as hearing hurtful remarks and having to deal with criticism from his classmates. The author writes simply and clearly, in a tone that speaks to young adults with respect and kindness. The illustrations are also very attractive. I am thrilled to learn that I can order the other books in the series too. I have only two laments: a) that the author didn't push beyond the self-help tips to talking about the values and Christian virtues behind the recommended responses; and b) that there is no single book containing all the topics. As a book, rather than as a set of brochure-looking guides, it may be easier to use as a reference whenever our young adults need to grab some "self-help" reinforcement at home.

Read this book before or after your divorce. It helped!

I had been married for 15 years to the only woman I ever had a relationship, then one day she divorced me. I was totally lost in the new world. I do not have any bad feeling against my ex-wife, but I kept slipping in some sort of depression. This book did a great job of explaining that I get in the depression because I miss daily contact with my only son. The book taught me to go slow in new relationship, I wish I read this book two months earlier. I was the worst case scenario in new relationship. However, The book cheered me up by pointing out that I am the best case scenario in many other areas such as financial, career... I think it will help those divorced people with financial problems as much as new relationship.

Rich Heritage

Don't Leave an Elephant to Go and Chase a Bird is a wonderfully crafted kind-hearted tale. The author quickly moves you through the adventures of Anancy the spiderman. Anancy goes from one person to the next exchanging items. His trip and the transition and exchange from one person to the next is so rhythmical, that I can almost hear drums and music as Anancy travels along. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover with such a light story and illustrations, which are influenced by traditional African art themes. Although crafted for a child, this story, a Ghanaian folk tale has a rich heritage.
