Matt Davis has done a wonderful job. So many children's books are the same and follow the same formula. Matt's book does
not do that. It is fun and children really become involved with the story. It's too bad the berries don't exist. The
bread sounds delicious! You will find your mouth watering and wondering what is going to happen in the end.

If you love watercolor paintings and enjoy cooking with fruit then this beautifully illustarted little cookbook is a must.
The autor/illustrator Val Archer was born in England and studied art at the Royal College of Art, her watercolor paintings
grace each and every page of this lovely cookbook.
Not only is she a master of watercolor, but an accomplished cook as well. The recipes she has included in this volume are unique and include such ingredients as Elderberries, Tayberries, and the more common blueberries and strawberries. The illustrations (paintings) are exceptional and look beautiful enough to frame. I have many times been tempted to cut out some of my favirite pages and have them matted and framed.
The recipes range from exotic to every day affair. The measurements are in both metric and standard. There are some exotic sounding ingredients. One such ingredient is caster sugar, it is mainly sold in Britain, but can be purchased in the U.S. under the name "superfine" sugar. If you do an on-line search you can generally locate how to obtain the particular ingredient, or find a suitable substitute. The fact that some ingredients may be hard to obtain is the only reason that I could see that one would not find this cookbook simply wonderful!
In my opinion I am very fortunate indeed to own "A Basket of Berries" by Val Archer. My cookbook collection would certainly be lacking if I did not have my own copy. I also have a copy of another cookbook that she authored and illustrated titled "A Basket of Apples" it also is an equally beautiful artistic treasure and a must-have for any serious cookbook collector!

This is one of Joy Berry's "Survival Series for Kids" books and I have to confess that my son Devon and I like them all. I've
had them in storage for years, way before Devon was a twinkle in my eye, or my gal Sara's, and I'm glad I saved them.
In this book Ms. Berry and illustrator Bartholomew, with your help of course, will show your toddler, or slightly older child, that it's important of be kind to their guests. That they should never ask someone to stay over, without asking Mom or Dad first. That they should never ask Mom or Dad in front of the other child, thus possibly embarrassing him or her. And especially that they should never be like Randy Rude, a rude little boy in the story who is not kind to his guests.
Though this book was written over twenty years ago, it still stands up. The excellent comic book type illustrations will keep your child interested as you read along with him or her. And for the life of me I don't know why these books are not easier to get. Joy Berry is good for children, that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it. If you can get a hold of her books and share them with your child, you'll both be better for it.

This was a great Bible study--I never knew all the parallels between the Israelites and African American experience today.
Debra Berry is a black woman, so when she writes about it she really knows what she's talking about. I learned a lot about
Nehemiah and learned a lot about how I can be restored myself and also impact my community for restoration. Great book for
women's groups in any church!

A concise and direct summary of world beers

An excellent introductory volume to the world of beers, which gives a general outline on much of what you will find throughout
the world, quite often accessible to those whom have stores specializing in some of them. Given the shear volume of beer that
exists, this is an excellent way to break down the particular styles and tastes of many different beers available, with excellent
background on the countries and regions that you may find access to. For a european traveler, this book will provide ample
research for what you will come across; and irregardless will prove to be a great study on the subject for curiousity seekers.
RMP
PS: The author does not pass judgement on the beers, as that could become very subjective, not to mention weighing down the purpose that the book intends, to identify with different as needed for the reader to assess according to their own finding. In this way the book succeeds; though I have not checked out other books on the subject, I do identify the book as a great introductory volume.

An Excellent Book for a Toddler to Grow Up With

This children's book by Joy Berry is short, to the point and has excellent comic book type illustrations that will catch any
toddler's eye. The book opens with little blonde and very selfish Katie not wanting to share her toys with red-headed Sam.
Your toddler will learn right off the bat that other children do not like playing with selfish kids, because selfish kids
care more about themselves than they do others.
You'll be asking your toddler as you read along how he or she feels and thinks about selfish children. Do they feel left out? Do they feel angry? Your toddler will get the picture pretty fast that selfish is just not the way to be.
And to reinforce the don't be selfish theme, the second half of the books shows Sam playing with his new friend, Tami. Unlike Katie, Sam is not selfish and he and Tami enjoy themselves playing while Katie is obviously left out, because nobody like a selfish little girl, or boy.
Ms. Berry's books are all delightful and it's a puzzle to me why they are so hard to get. One would think that this is the kind of book every toddler should grow up with. I'm glad I have them and my son Devon is too.
