Bernard Books

The Jewish Experiential Book has been a "must" for Jewish group workers for decades. The new version includes updates of many of the classic structured group experiences for used in Jewish settings, as well as new exercises. A must for those who use non-formal techniques in Jewish education, youth work, adult education, camping and more.

A fantastic dictionary, thesaurus and general reference tool. It has flags of nations, bios of the presidents, as well.

I have used this book for 30 years. It is my GoTo book, even though I have about 10 other home repair books. I find it has hints, tips, and shortcuts that are missing in the standard books. For instance, how to get the paint off of a brush using the paint can. You know that old guy in the hardware store that knows everything? That is this book.

I just finished reading "No Place Like Max" and it has left me missing the days I shared with these wonderful people, Bud and Luise Anderson, their family and their neighbors.

This is a great read if you lived here and knew the main characters. And it's a great read if you didn't but would like to know what life in the north country is all about and the kind of people who settled here and made homes in the wilderness.

This is truly a remarkable book.

This is my favorite book. There are touching quotes and hilarious quotes on almost any subject. As I was reading, I was turning the corners of pages with great thoughts or quotes. It quickly became ridiculous, as I was turning down the corner of almost every page. This book makes a great gift.

Without doubt, all parents are sometimes (or often) guilty of ignoring the requests of their children for attention because the parents are trying to accomplish some (to them) important task. 'Not Now, Bernard' illustrates the folly of this policy and the disastrous consequences for both Bernard's existence and for a moster's self-respect

As a high school history teacher, I found this book a fascinating and practical explanation of how to read and study history. Norling begins his book with convincing arguments for why history should be studied at all. He continues by outlining the many different "theories" of history (Great Men, Great Ideas, etc.)and comes to the accurate conclusion first stated by Carl Gustavson, that the only law of history is the law of multiple causation. Throughout his book are many interesting examples from the pages of history to illustrate the points he makes. He concludes with a practical chapter on how to write a term paper for history class. I would love to use this book to teach an AP course.
