Kenneth Melchin's book is an excellent introduction to Ethics and to the method elaborated by Bernard Lonergan. For those who are interested in an "inside-out" approach to ethics, starting with one's self, this is the book to buy.
You will gain insights into not only your own moral foundations, but will also understand the patterns and habits that make up our social realm.
Original, readable, thought provoking, what more could one ask for!

This guidebook was crucial to my few days in Brussels. I used this compact and user-friendly book to plan my trip. I found all the information accurate and interesting. All the highlights, and some quirky sights, were covered. Most importantly, its portable size and built-in maps made finding my way around so easy. However, as a disclaimer, it is the Best of Brussels. If you are looking for an in-depth book, this one isn't for you.

Dr. Rende is my theology teacher in high school and i think he is a very good teacher. He has a lot of knowledge and always has answers to our questions. He is very educated especially in theology so i am sure this book is very good and if filled with a lot of good information. So everyone should buy this book and you will learn a lot.

Nostalgic Articles on Guyanese and Caribbean Life

Reminisce with Caribbean Radio, Georgetown street characters, the cinema, dance halls, rum shops, jumbies, the pork-knocker, Christmas, folk songs, cricket, superstition, and much more. These nostalgic articles are precious momentoes that give enjoyment and insight, the more often you read them. Heydorn's research is rich in detail and has significant historical and educational value. It is based on the creole proverb that "nah everything scholar know, he learn from teacher". - Geoffrey Da Silva, Consul General, Republic of Guyana. Bernard's reminiscence of our heritage embody many fond memories with humour and charm, in a warm and fundamental way - Barbara Ferreira, Guyanese/Canadian. Bernard Heydorn's vivid, rich recollections have been a hit with our readers - Sharief Khan, Editor, Guyana Chronicle

humankind versus sea pulps; what to expect in the future

Review Date: 1998-11-11
I am just an ordinary reader which can tell you what he likes, what he dislikes, and usually can't explain why. So I found it difficult to express my feelings regarding this beautiful book. But it touched me on some special way so I decided to motivate the others to read it and to feel it. It is an ecological novel which shows us the life of sea pulps through the eyes of Danny, a little sea pulp. Their life becomes the life of victims because of human destructive influence. After the reading of the book, everyone becomes aware of this problem, and some of us became motivated to do something to help those beings to survive. I hope that it is not necessary to wait too long to live with all the animals in peace as it supposed to be. Also I hope that it won't be necessary to wait too long for another book of this extraordinary author. Read it and enjoy it.

Excellent performance! This is the version to have.

I've listened to all of Bernard Cornwell's Saxon series in audiobook format (and read them in hardcover, too) and this is the best of them all. Richard Armitage's reading is vastly superior to the other narrators (Tom Sellwood, Jamie Glover, and Gerard Doyle). Mr. Armitage is a master storyteller. His narration does not sound like the book is being read (as it sometimes does in the other versions) -- it's being performed -- no, it's lived. The pacing is impressive -- calm and contemplative when required, intense and passionate for the action sequences. He adds just the right level of humor (sometimes wry but without too much sarcasm) which is sorely lacking in the other audiobooks.

Mr. Armitage's range of voices and accents is astonishing. He's lucky to have such flexible vocal chords to be able to go high enough yet gentle for the women and children and never sounds false or forced. Hild, Gisela and Thyra are particularly wonderful, exuding patience, passion and rage. I lost count of the number of male voices he created but the range is stunning -- some very bass, some very tenor -- age, class and region all incorporated so smoothly that at times I forgot that one person was creating them all. Every voice, even the least incidental ones, has a distinct character.

It's a shame that Amazon doesn't sell this version but you can get it through audiobookcollection{.com}. This company is in the UK but they do ship overseas. I truly hope that Mr. Armitage will be available to record an unabridged version of Sword Song, the next book in the series.

Can you find Lorenzo?

This is a favorite from my own childhood and has now become the same for my own children. The very curious fish, Lorezo, explores the ocean with his large family, and one day his curiousity causes him to fall behind. He must learn how to fend for himself as he searchs the sea for his family. The illustations are drawn in a way that encourages the child to find Lorenzo within the pages where he is hidden among his fellow fish, the other fish, and his environs. Your children will enjoy being read this one again and again!

Los Egipcios, una revision historica rapida
Helpful Votes: 1 out of 1 total.
Review Date: 2004-09-27

This is tremendous work of Poems that seem to speak your soul- Taking you into your past- Helping you see your present and to look forward to your future. Mr. Briggs builds wonderful visions in your mind and warms your heart. I recommend this collection of poems to everyone who loves the magic of a wordsmith who can write what you feel. From love to fun! It is also appreciated as a gift for friends and family who enjoy reading poetry and for those who are new to the craft. A unique masculine point of view.
