This wonderful book showcases one of the world's best collections of 20th. century art. Of special fascination are the works
of American artist Joseph Cornell. The Bergmans are the pre-eminent Cornell collectors as the breadth and unsurpassed quality
of his work showcased herein demonstrates. The photographs are exquisitely rendered and Ades' commentary is incisive. This
book stands as a worthy complement to the collection housed in the Art Institute of Chicago

This beautiful book offers large, generous reproductions, many in color, and expert commentary on an impressive surrealist
art collection. It has the best presentation of Joseph Cornell's work among art books I have seen-- even among those devoted
entirely to the artist. Of course, several other greats are featured, including Miro, Dali, Brauner, Ernst, Magritte, Breton,
Lam.... If you like this kind of art, do yourself a favor: buy the book and take a trip to downtown Chicago and the Art Institute.

Being someone not of the catholic faith, at first i was driven from anything with the word "Pope" on it, but those religious
inhibitions were shortly erased when I saw thise book! i had no idea the vatican contained such spectacular works of art,
and from periods which i adore such as the Boroque! The collection is not just a few alter pieces from Byzantium, but rather
is a study of art itself and a study in the masterpieces of the periods in its history. This book is incredibly inspirational,
i would recomend it to anyone! even someone who doesnt like art! this fabulous volume is worth every penny one pays for it,
and is one of the great finds of my endless book collecting

I was a young man when I read Bergman's story and it convinced me that a sense of anonymity is a delusion. I've tried to be
a transparent and accountable person and never consider anonymity when making moral decisions. Even though I read the book
only once when it was first released, I still think about it often.
Susan Bergman writes prose like a poet. Her story could be a Jerry Springer show but, instead, she turns it into a moving morality play.
If you are expecting a down-and-dirty tell-all about Anne Hesche, this book isn't for you. Hesche plays a rather minor role.

Pictures would be helpful but descriptive instructions are complete enough.

This book is an excellent resource. Everything is laid out in so that it doesn't take a lot of time to do a lesson plan.
The activities are excellent for grades 3 and 4. The practice with observing, recording, and making predictions alone makes this book valuable.
The lessons in life cycles, habitat, and animal adaptations are excellent for any teacher. Easy for teachers who do not have a background in science to teach fresh water ecology.

I don't know why this would ever go out of print (save for the fact that the book is an interview, not an essay) as it contains
exactly what most people would want to read regarding Bergman: his own thinking on his own work. Rarely do we get a chance
to hear from the maker of a film or work of art exactly how he felt about and what he remembers of making both his masterpieces
and his misses, and this should at all times be the first source for any looking to do any analysis of an artist's work. I
would reccomend this book to anyone interested in knowing the why behind Bergman, even if you need to buy it second hand.

A Concise and Very Clear Explanation of Trial Advocacy

Review Date: 2007-10-15
Bergman's book is a very handy reference for law students and beginning lawyers. The book discusses many of the skills needed
for the courtroom in a clear and concise manner (true to its title). The book emphasizes the importance of telling the jurors
a story at trial instead of just reciting facts. There is a lot of practical advice as well. Bergman explains that in opening
statements, lawyers do not need to repeatedly say, "the evidence will show" throughout the opening. Unfortunately, too many
lawyers still do this.
Bergman is an expert at breaking complicated subjects into understandable parts. One such example is cross-examination. For example, in deciding which questions to ask so that you can be assured of getting the answer you want, he instructs lawyers to think about which questions are highly safe, minimally safe, and marginally safe. Bergman then explains how and why to do this. This book has a lot of wisdom in it and is the perfect complement for any trial advocacy textbook.
