Mr. Bennett does an excellent job in detailing the work of the Colporters and Chaplins within the Southern Armies. It is refreshing to the reader to see how despite the many hardships faced by the Confederate Soldier, God was at work amongst them. Mr. Bennett details many of the camp meetings where searching souls find their Salvation in Jesus Christ. I highly reccommend this book!

During the Summer of 1963, Mr. J. G. Bennett delivered three lectures on Gurdjieff at Denison House. Mr. Bennett was the one person, perhaps, who could speak with authority upon the controversial and little-known figure of the Master, Gurdjieff.

The first lecture acquainted his audience with the incredible enviroment of Gurdjieff's boyhood. Such compelling names of places and peoples threaded their way through Mr. Bennett's lecture. He spoke of the Greeks of Caesaria and Alexandropol. The early invasions of the Turks, Armenians and Assyrians came to his mind, as the Sack of Kars in April of 1877.

The second lecture was devoted to the sources of Gurdjieff's ideas. The reader will be intrigued with his associations with the Armenian Secret Societies; of Sufism and the Dervish Brotherhoods; and of the Sufi Recluses of Persia and Turkestan. In this lecture, we find Gurdjieff known as the Wonder Worker, who was evidently influenced by Russian Occultism and Zoastrian teachings.

The third lecture, which dealt with Gurdjieff's teachings and methods, revealed a man with the basic human problems such assail every man. It, also, allowed the audience to see the practicality of the man through the plans he made and their execution. There remains an unanswered question: "How did Gurdjieff intend his work to continue?"

This book is unique in the way the poetry is used to help the child learn to read and by use of wonderful illustrations. It's fun, fast-moving, and a sure winner for Halloween!

While this collection was designed with children 9-12 in mind, I have found that adults and older teens really like it too. It has a nice selection of poetry, is readable, is presented in a very attractive way, and is just plain fun to read. I shared my copy of the book with high school juniors, and they loved it.

Yes, you can arrange for a private shopping spree as did Justin Timberlake and countless others but thats all part of the great fun of HARRODS. Mr. AL FAYED has taken good care of this institution and that alone deserves him citizenship and Knighthood. I loved this book.

Harry Goes to the Hospital: A Story for Children About What It's Like to Be in the Hospital is more than an ordinary picturebook. Medical doctor Howard J. Bennett wrote Harry Goes to the Hospital specifically to prepare young people for a hospital stay. Harry Goes to the Hospital addresses many of the difficult things young people can expect: having to stay in bed for hours, funny smells, prickly needles, homesickness, adjusting to the presence of many busy, sick, or worried people, and more. The simple, charming illustrations complement the sympathetic text, which reveals that imagination, reassurance, and just knowing that loved ones are there can all be very helpful during a hospital say. A "Note to Parents" by psychologist Virginia Shiller, Ph.D. rounds out this welcome and needed contribution to public and private children's libraries.

Its sad this book is out of print. Its quite wonderfull. I couldn't put it down! The characters, setting, and plot are well developed. Its a cross between historical fiction, horror, and mystery. The ending is quite a surprise as well.
