Totally absorbing book. Of course by the amazing James Patterson, what else can you expect. Great new detective with a huge family.......meeting them all is so heartwarming. Yet this is a thriller thru and thru. I hope this is the first of many more books featuring this detective Mike. Excellence in the highest regards.

My boys...were immediately inspired by the fascinating
projects in this book! However, they are not able to make
the projects independently. I would highly recommend this
book for parents of kids who are willing to get their hands
dirty and for parent of kids who like multi-day projects.
We had a blast building a full model Stegasarous and T-rex,
but we spent many hours building them.

You will need to go to other resources for full details
about how/when/where the dinos lived. This is mostly a project
book and less of a reference book. But the projects are so
fun and interesting, it will make you want to learn more.

Tilton & Bennett have produced a very good text for Mountaineers Books. Every out-door lover, wilderness hiker and mountain back packer should read "Don't Get Sick".

Through nine absorbing chapters they inform about all the various diseases (from staph to lyme disease to bubonic plague) one may contract from living out doors. The book is small and will fit into a pocket (take it with you for reference on your next trek). T & B's comfortable, and non technical, writing style allowed me to read all 108 pages in just one week of the National Scout Jamboree.

T & B identify many diseases, suggests cures, define periods for illness, and discuss how to shield one from sickness. They offers explanation about the four microbes that make us sick: viruses, bacteria, fungi and yeast, and protozoa. They also highlight their prevention and cures. More than a dozen graphs and tables illustrate healthy ways to avoid wilderness illness and how to set up a germ free living space. T & B also provide a helpful reference section, for each chapter, at the end of the book (demonstrating their state of the art research).

With 20+ years of wilderness hiking and pack backing experience I was delighted to learn more from T & B. For example, tetanus lives in the soil (just another reason not to go bare footed in unfamiliar environments), on page 23. And sixty-six percent of all raw poultry contains salmonella (cook it thoroughly), page 62.

This book is recommended to all who spend time hiking, eating, and sleeping in the wilderness. If you enjoy the outdoors, T & B will help you love it more with good health.

I can't say enough about this book. I had been away from drawing animals for 36 years and needed something to refresh my memory on technique's,along with the proper tools and paper to use. This book starts out with that in mind at the beginning and gives you several different looks at how pencil or ink or wash looks. You don't need a lot of tools to start drawing with this book,in fact I used a 2b pencil for most of it.

Then it goes to the three artist who drew these animals in this book and each in their own way talk about animals in perspective and contour,lighting and so on. Each artist touches upon the over all bone construction and muscles of the animals and makes it easier for you to get an idea what they should look like after you've finished drawing their skin so to speak.

I was very happy to see a lot was done on the horse and the many breeds of them,showing me what to look for in each breed,like how thick is this horses muzzle compared to another horse. It also showed different angles and how to measure when foreshortening the horse in a drawing.

The cat section was great.I felt the once you learn how to use circles and boxes to draw a house cat then you can move on to the big game cats. There is much in this book about motion when it comes to cats and several different views are shown along with several different breeds.

The only part of the book that I thought was lacking by the artist is that that there was less instuction on drawing a dog and it showed many breeds,but actual drawing the different parts in different sizes and shapes was very lacking.

Over all i recommend this book mostly for the beginner or someone who has a little more experience.

My 8 year old, May, loves to tell me her dreams every morning. This book was perfect for her, has a place to write down dreams and figure out what your dreams are telling you. I was interested in it too, lots of fun without being too serious. This is the only book on dreaming for young kids I've found.

This third book of the Tide trilogy does not disappoint, as Joanna Bennett faces life on the island without Nils, during WWII. The reader is drawn sympathetically into the loneliness as well as the island's daily dramas. Joanna is a complex character, learning new things about herself all the time, and the reader is never sure if she will maintain faithfulness to the wonderful but long-suffering Nils. A rather different view of the war than is usually given in novels,the island characters prove that no one is safe or immune from the horrors of war, and yet love for the simple island life is heightened because of it. A satisfying read.
