I've been bringing this book out every Halloween
since I first met the Illustrator while he worked
at my school back in the early 90's and I must say
his work is so exceptional and detailed. Our school,
J.J. Shaughnessy School, Lowell, Ma. has papercutting
work he created just for us. This book, "Ragged Shadows"
is timeless and fun to read the spooky poems and stories and of
course the magicical illustrations. This book may be hard
to locate now but search around (on line) and find it and share
with family and friends during this special season.

I bought "Rainbows Are Made" for a teenager as a Congratulations gift, and he has since looked up more of Carl Sandburg's work. I'm waiting to see if his curious enjoyment of it takes him any further. For now, I can't think of anything else that would recommend the permanence of this collection anymore than this.

In 5th grade, we had to choose a poem to recite from a book ofthe teachers choice. I was given this book, and fell in love with it.'Grass' is haunting, and subtle word play makes every read seem like the first time.

Excellent messianic book.

"Restoration" by Todd Bennett is a book that every messianic believer should read.

Mr. Bennett communicates his points effectively and in an easily understood manner.

He provides a clear definition of Yisrael(Israel),Torah, and how the original "assembly" or Natzarim were much different than the Juadaism or Christianity of today.

The author explains what a disciple was in Yahushua's time. Talmidim is a taught one or student and how that applies to today

Todd Bennett describes the Creator's calendar and how it differs with the modern calendar.

Pagan symbols and names that are attached to Christianity are discussed from the perspective of an author that has experienced membership in a Christian denomination. Translational differences mentioned by the author are easily confirmed by consulting various translations of Scripture.

His chapter on the magi and "three wisemen" was intriguing!

Two themes of "Restoration" are Repentance and Renewal.

This is an excellent resource for any messianic believer and anyone that is seeking the truth of tradition vs. Scripture. I highly recommend this book.

This book is about Marilee, the poor girl. Marilee Ellis has always wanted to be rich. She wants to be so rich that her best friend will love her and those mean girls at school will be nicer and jealous of her. Then she gets the LoveRock from her Grammy as a gift and she makes a wish. Soon Marilee has won the lottery and has more money than she ever dreamed of. But she quickly learns that money can't buy everything especially not love.

An excellent addition to the Mirror Image series!

This was a great book! I really enjoyed it and it was soo interesting that I couldn't put it down. If you loved the first Mirrow Image book, then you'll definitely love this book too. The book showed that money can't buy everything, a good heart does. Marilee discovers this after her wish of becoming rich came true after wishing on the loverock. Before receiving the loverock from her Grammy, Marilee was very poor. She'd always wish she was as rich as the girls who tease her at school were. Then when she wished upon the loverock, her wish finally comes true but she learns the lesson that money can't buy everything. To find out more about her dilema, read Mirror Image: Rich Girl In The Mirror. You won't be dissappointed.

I found this book for my son, since his name is Sam, for his first birthday. Although he's a bit too young now to sit through the entire story, I have no doubt that he will love hearing a story about "him" when he gets a little older.

A Lovely Book

What an easy way to learn a little piece of history! This book is not only interesting with its story line about an old tradition with shoes, but it is visually pleasing as well. I find it equally enjoyed by my 12 year old grandchild who can read the story and by my 2 year old grandchild who loves to point out the kitty cat, the mouse, the horse, etc. This book is timeless and will make a lovely gift for years to come.

This is one of the best books I have read concering the captive keeping of the savannah monitor. It was easy to read and had the most information on breeding I have ever seen. I think before anyone would consider purchasing a savannah I would recommend you read this book. Bravo Daniel and Ravi!!!!!!

This is easily the best book about keeping monitor lizards. The authors have so much experience and it shows! They even provide a section about the lizards in the wild. The advice on care and husbandry is far better than what I've found in any other book. These guys really know what they are talking about!

Oustanding book in Computational Physics

I also took Prof Bennett's course in college, for which this was our text book. The book is infused with Prof Bennett's wit and passion for instructing young scientists, making abstract concepts both easy to understand and entertaining. In addition, the computational problems are all extremely fun and highly instructional (for example, his discussion of the Magnus force and the 'ping-pong perfect shot' problem surprisingly has made for great cocktail conversation). Although my field of Computational Chemistry is not dealt with in the book, I found that his course served as excellent preparation in terms of gaining valuable programming skills and a deeper understanding of basic physics. It's been close to 11 years since I took it, and I still look back on it very fondly. In fact, his course is largely responsible for inspiring me to go to graduate school in my chosen field. It was one of the best I took in college, and his book was a perfect accompaniment.

A pure experience

Prof Bennett was a professor of mine in college and his course in computational physics was were I learned to think -- even though our studies focuse d only partially on physics. His book, for which I still search in print, leads the reader to a full understanding of how computers can help us with even the oldest of problems -- and does so while being open enough for a non-scientist to understand. Outstanding and inspirational.

Memorable Teachers
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2004-02-01
How many teachers can you remember who have had a signficant influence on your life. You can probably count them on the fingers of one hand, which in itself says something about the math teachers we've all had. The one vital thing that most teachers never discover is that the greatest thing we can "teach"
is the excitement of learning, the thrill of discovery.

A great acting teacher is not one who can most effectively direct actors where on teh stage to stand and with what expression to recite their lines. A great teacher helps, directs, creates the environment wherein the students can make discoveries. And any discovery is part of self-discovery.

Jeff Bennet's book, SECONDARY STAGES is a roadmap to the process through which disovery becomes possible. It makes the journey dangerously safe, instructively fun. It methodically conducts us through the maze of adolescent psychology to the lovely place where spontaneity is possible.

It is able to be inspirational and simultaneously grounded in practical reality. It is pedagogical (in the best sense) and simultaneously personal. The book is logically organized. Its structure is a function not only of ideas but of the experiential progression of the teacher-student relationship.
It sets inspirational and practical goals, it offers pathways to get there, it identifies problem areas and offers incisive and practical ways of understanding them and solving them.

It is a great guidebook for any student or teacher of the craft of acting...and of teaching.

An essential read for theater lovers: new and old.

I have had the pleasure of being a former student of Jeff Bennett's classes in high school. Mr Bennett has shared a wealth of knowledge about the theater industry with me, but I believe he has taught me much more than just the theater.

Jeff Bennett is a sage of wisdom, and through our countless conversations he has guided me on the right paths, in life as well as my career goals. By being my mentor through the troubling years of high school woe, Mr. Bennett has been the most influential teacher I have ever had.

People who are involved in theater, or teaching theater at the secondary school level need to read this book.
Yet, life-long learners would benefit from reading Jeff's perceptiveness.

Jeff Bennett has the uncanny ability to connect with students of any age. Through this book, others can now share the privilege I have had for years.

So why not write about it. SOLITARY PLEASURES explores masterbation in ways you've never thought about before. It's a rich academic anthology (watch out for those big words) with essays that are important to the study of sex and sexuality--"masterbation for the mind" is the way I like to think about this collection.

It was an extrordinary book!!

Author Brian A. Bennett uses many never before first person accounts on the activities and personalities of Monroe County's 140th New York Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. A second edition of the book should be available in early Summer 1999 with additional photos and text that builds on the original. This is a very well written regimental history in a VERY readable style. This is a must for any Civil War buff, reenactor or anyone with a general interest in history. Read all about the unit's first commander, Irish-born Patrick H. O'Rorke -a graduate of West Point and a martyr on the crest of Little Round Top. Find out how and why the 140th was awarded its' zouave uniforms. Learn about the massacre of the unit on Saunders' Field during the Wilderness Campaign. A great read for everyone. Search for an original or hold out for the revised reprint!
