Indispensable for the practicing podiatrist

Dr. Zier was my internal medicine professor in San Francisco and utilized this text to supplement his lectures. It contains all of the pertinent clinical information that a practicing podiatrist needs to address the problems of his or her patients. It is clearly written and weeds out the extraneous information that would serve no purpose in modern podiatry.

The book is good, but thier dad is kind of a scumbag and he gets what he deserves. I'm glad the rich mom was finally brought down.

This was an enjoyable book to read.

This is a good book. Cherie shows off her excellent writing skills once again! Her characters were very real, she showed how people can really act in certain situations. You chould understand how the characters felt. Giving the view of the girl really gives you an idea of how someone would really handle that situation.

Another heart-warming, educational and beautifully illustrated book from the multi-talented Dean Bennett.

There's also the sub-text of preserving the Allagash, the beauty of which Dr. Bennett has documented in previous work.

We were the owners of Jasper, the old beagle dog in this book. Jasper led a very unusual and wonderful life for a dog. Mr. Bennett has captured the essence of Jasper' life in an excellent way, with his illustrations being very life-like. Jasper's relationship with Sweetie, his friend in the forest, was exactly as Mr. Bennett told in the story. Excellent illustrations and great true story. We thank Mr. Bennett for allowing Jasper's (and Sweeties) story to be told to, hopefully, many many children, as well as adults. John Richardson & Regina Webster, owners of Jasper and sporting camp operators in the book.

Not just for children!

I finished this book in less than 6 hrs. It was such a page-turner! I really liked that it appealed to both adults and children alike! Hey, there was a little romance in there too! Very clean, mind you, this is a Christian juvenile book. I didn't read it aloud to my kids, but I will because it was such a page-turner for me!
It may be a little too graphic or intense for younger listeners or readers though. I think the age range given is correct even for listeners. Use your judgement.
Excellent book..better than "These Are My People".
Oh, and if you can, be sure to watch "Inn of Sixth Happiness" after reading this!

I LOVE the Trailblazer books!

This is on of my favorite Trailblazer books. It is about Gladys Aylward, a missionary in China, who takes in a lot of orphans and adopts three of her own children, Ninepence, Less, and Bao-Bao. One day the children see silver "birds" that drop bombs. Now, Gladys has to lead her nearly hundred orphans to safety from the Japanese, proving that God protects and listens to the prayers of His children.

The entire Fox Fire colledtion should be required reading for all people of this country. You would get a feel for where we came from and our heritage. The books show a deep respect for each other, God and country. Very good.

I bought the book because it has one of the best sections on fire pit firing of homemade pottery that I have seen, complete with excellent photos, as well as step by step info and historical info. The section on Quilting - The Joy Of My Life - Auntie Arie Carpenter is extensive and even has templates you can copy and use for making your own quilts. There is also a wonderful section on the country store, which as I read it seemed to be a combination of pay with cash or goods, like eggs, crops etc. Very worth the expense and a book I will treasure.

Marvelous, thoroughly documented volume of religious legends, beliefs, and practices of North and South American Natives compared to the Old Testament, New Testament, and Mormon Scriptures. I was amazed at some of the beliefs and practices.

Excellent style of writing. It gives great insight of the religious beliefs of the aborigins of the americas. One of the most documented books I ever read in my life. The reason why is do touching to me because a lot of this material describe the legends of some of my ancestors, the Incas of Peru and the Araucanos in Chile. I'm pretty sure that this book will be a BEST SELLER. Congratulations!!!!!

After my best friend "came out" to me, I read this book. I found it the library and it has helped me to understand the issue so much better. I laughed and I cried. Then I gave the book to my friend. He laughed, and he cried. I am so glad that there are books like this out there. I live about an hour away from a high school that just recently banned four books relating to gay issues. This wasn't one of them, but I think it's a shame that there are such narrow minded people in this world. This book opened up a whole new world to me.

I can't beat Thomas' thorough review. I simply wanted to add another strong recommendation. This is it. It's the definitive whitewater book for WA. Combined with real time river gauge data from sites like American Whitewater and Professor Paddle (here in WA), you can easily find which river from the book is running at an acceptable level.

As a new paddler hitting the numerous class II rivers in the book, I've found the descriptions concise and accurate and the directions excellent. I'll contrast that to some other paddling books out there (Verne...) with some truly addling directions. The only things you might want to see added are warnings about which parking lots require permits (typically the WA Fish & Wildlife permit).

Must Have for Washington State Whitewater Paddlers
Helpful Votes: 4 out of 5 total.
Review Date: 2004-05-05
This is the guide to whitewater paddling in Washington State with over 320 different trips described for the following drainages/regions: Columbia River Gorge, Lewis River, Kalama and Cowlitz, Lower Columbia and Chehalis, Upper Cowlitz, Deschutes and Nisqually, Puyallup, Green and Cedar, Snoqualmie, Skykomish, Pilchuck and Stilliguamish, Skagit, Nooksack, Northeast Cascades, Wenatchee, Yakima, Klickitat, Eastern Washington, Olympic Peninsula, Clackamas, Sandy, Hood, North Central Oregon, Snake, and Southern BC.

Jeff Bennett has paddled most of the runs and for those that he hasn't he has enlisted local experts to provide accurate descriptions. This guide gives equal attention from rivers all the way from class II beginner trips to the nationally-known class V creeks including the Little White, Ernie's Canyon, Robe Canyon, Canyon Creek, Cispus, Icicle, Ohanepecosh, Big Quilcene, and many others.

While this guide does not go into detailed mile-by-mile descriptions, it does provide an excellent summary of the overall character of each run including potential suitability for rafting, notes specific hazards, and highlights the unique features and noted rapids. Directions to the put-ins and take-outs are generally excellent and it serves as the must-have dashboard companion for anyone looking to find their way around Washington State's Rivers. The coverage of runs in Oregon, BC, and the Olympic Peninsula is less complete but this guide still hits the highlights. The guide also includes drainage maps, black and white photos that illustrate several of the region's classic rapids, and a number of rather humorous river stories.

This guide is much broader in scope than Douglass North's Washington Whitewater which has more detailed descriptions and mile-by-mile river maps but only covers 34 of the states classic runs and nothing beyond class IV. Gary Korb's guide to the Olympic Peninsula provides much more detailed descriptions of the rivers in that region. Verne Huser has a guide that covers rivers in Western Washington characterized by flatwater and mild rapids that would be of more interest to those looking for a scenic canoe trip.
