This beautifully written book is about love and loss, and about one man's discovery of growing through loss and finding meaning in it. Rather than letting go of Bonnie, his beloved wife of 20 years who died of cancer in 2002, over time the author learns to let go of his grief and the pain of losing her. Ultimately he comes to recognize the gifts he has received from loving her, as he discovers who he was in her presence, and who he has become in her absence. An inspiring book that will bring comfort and hope to anyone mourning the loss of a love.
Loving Grief, a real treasure.

This book is a true gem. I recommend Loving Grief Loving Grief to everyone who has ever lost a loved one. It is simple, easily read, yet profound in it's impact. It can be read through or opened at random. The words and message are comforting and the poetry is beautiful. I have already given it to several other people experiencing grief, and just ordered more as gifts.
Helps one to fully feel, then move through, a loss.

Not a "self-help" book--and better because of it. Just a beautifully transparent look at one man's struggle with the loss of his wife, and the search for how to integrate that reality into his life. Also a widowed man, I found myself deeply engaged in this book. It gave me comfort--normalized my grieving in a way that surprised me.

Light Years Beyond Self-Help......
This small, concise, intelligent book offers tools for true and lasting transformation. I've studied and continue to practice the teachings and have found myself propelled into a self I'd only hoped exists. My sense of freedom, peace and contentment are all encompassing - and radiating!
As the author states - life happens. It's our perceptions and responses to those happenings that are our experience of that life. I understood through Buddhist teachings that my suffering stems from my attachment. What I didn't quite `get' was how to let go of that attachment. Now I know and practice diligently what I've learned and continue to learn.
This book has taught me the power of words, the power of my attention and of my intentions. If you have a longing for Truth and Freedom and to live as who you TRULY are give yourself the gift of these powerful teachings.

This is a great book -- very clear and concise. Not a lot of fluffy nonsense but practical and well written. It provides the reader with wonderful tools on how to live a conscious life. If you have any interest in quantum physics, meditation, living a more conscious life or just learning how to be true to yourself -- read this book.
People who have read Ken Wilbur, John Perkins and Florence Scovel Shinn or even Carolyn Meiss would really like this. I'm re-reading it for the third time right now.

I say "changing" because the practices outlined in this book are ongoing, and self-transformation is constantly unfolding. Doing these practices over time has transformed my life. I no longer experience much anxiety, I feel ever freer from anger, depression, and negativity in general, no matter what the circumstances. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who is truly looking for guidance in how to change his or her life in these very challenging times. Sylvia Bennett has given me hope for a beautiful future regardless of outer events. I'm learning to be true to myself, thanks to the wisdom contained in this book.

As a Nevil Shute fan I always wondered what happened to the Viceroy parked in the rear of the Airspeed Ltd. hangar that Shute described in his book Slide Rule. Now I know. Airspeed Ltd., Nevil Norway and the Viceroy are all packed into The Mannerheim Line. If you like Nevil Shute you'll like this book--it's a great read.

The author evidentally thoroughly researched the historical events in this book. It was well written and easy to read. The narration is excellent. The characters are made to seem as real American heroes. It records a part of history that is little-known to the average reader. Those familiar with aircraft would particularly appreciate the book and its terminology. Recommended reading for those who are interested in lesser-known world events.

This is a great period action story. The author certainly knows his way around airplanes and gives the reader lots of unusual detail that will be appreciated by airplane buffs. The chapters on World War II in Finland provide a new picture of a little known campaign. The characters are well drawn. They aren't unrealistic glamor types, but good guys trying to get the job done. Highly recommended.

This is a great book. My almost 5 year old son keeps asking for it over and over again. Unlike most "real science" books, it has both scientific explanations for things like gravity and the phases of the moon, but also tells a narrative fictional story. As a parent, it's very helpful to have all the answers right there on the same page when your child asks, what is gravity? We can't wait for the next Max book.

Molly likes to visit the art museum because she always has so much fun. From the moment she arrives at the museum's great marble staircase, Molly begins a magical journey that transports her into the works of some of the world's greatest artists. She chases Constable's rainbow, dances with Degas' ballerina, doges Turner's train, plays guitar with Picasso's musicians, and even floats on Monet's lily pad. With the story and illustrations by Denise Bennett Minnerly and the text by poet and freelance writer Gladys Walker, Molly Meets Mona And Friends: A Magical Day In The Museum is an unusually effective collaboration that introduces painting and sculpture to young readers, and is a welcome addition to any school or community library children's picture book collection.

The children I read it to (I'm a school Media Specialist) were enthralled and their enthusiam generated curiosity about the artists. They checked out other art books. The Art teacher has her own copy for her young child and she loves it! I highly recommend MOLLY MEETS MONA AND FRIENDS for the young reader. It is a quality exposure to great art for the young artist or the future art lover.

MOON IN GEMINI by Brandon Bennett brings us Shawn Jefferson, a tall, good-looking NBA star who attracts women without even trying. They fall out of the stands to get a date with him, they eye him as he's playing and sometimes chase him down. Then, Shawn has a terrible accident while shooting the game's winning basket. Falling to the floor, he crushes his knee cap. After surgery, he meets his physical therapist, Karen Bradshaw and begins to fall in love with her. Karen has her own set of problems, which she isn't handling very well. It also seems no matter how hard Shawn and Karen work, his injury just isn't healing the way it should. Shawn drops into an angry depression. Karen's brother, a psychologist, warns Karen about Shawn, he says there's something not quite right about him. Karen ignores her brother and they become much more than therapist and patient. What will this bring Karen?
MOON IN GEMINI started a bit slow, then it picked up speed and raced wildly toward the end. Shawn had several faces, all of them fascinating. Karen, dipping into drugs and alcohol, just couldn't seem to leave her childhood behind. Her brother, while trying to help her, was having his own problems with his marriage and his memories. All of these sub-plots helped to give the book excitement and I couldn't put it down. The characters were well-developed and easy to understand, even the few who only blew through for a moment. It is a great book and the suspense is very good.

At once, deeply passionate, darkly humorous, and lyrical, Brandon Bennett's latest piece is gripping from the first few pages and as magnetic as the heavenly body in its title. Prepare to be encapsulated in a cautionary tale about when keeping it too real goes way wrong. Bennett has a noteworthy talent at painting vivid pictures of both the complex webs of human relations and the sometimes dark corners of our psyches. His colorful characters exude an intoxicating brew of raw sensuality and pain. I can't wait 'til he drops his next work of art. Keep up the work, B!

With its crazy character and very graphic nature, it was hard not to finish this book because you want to see what happens to Jefferson. I ask that you please don't stereotype this book as a hip-hop book because it is not. I probably wouldn't have read it if it was. It is reality.

I recently finished reading 'My Father's voice', the biography of Lorne Greene written by his daughter Linda Greene Bennett. If you are a Lorne Greene fan this book is an absolute MUST for you. I thought I knew quite a lot about this man but discovered I hadn't even scratched the surface! I just wish I had had the opportunity to meet him. Linda obviously loved her father dearly and this comes across in the book. I laughed and I cried but loved it totally.
Even if you are not a particular fan of Mr. Greene it is still worth reading about this hard-working, intelligent, humorous, wonderful person, and WHAT a life he had!!

This book is very clearly written with nice pictures. It provides information but not too much for young children. I would recommend it for a general overview of animals.

Written with the collaborations of capable advisors, this is the book, which any kid who wants to journey into the animal kingdom would appreciate.
Essential for both primary and secondary school children, the coverage of this book is good: just as its details are moderate. It is colourful, well-illustrated, and embraced a wide variety of species.
In addition to its complementary cladograms, this "National Geographic Animal Encyclopedia" included habitat details of each animal; as well as their simplified taxonomies. It is a carefully arranged atlas, whose outlook is educative. A good insight into the Kingdom Animalia!

From aardvark to zebra this volume is an excellent introduction into the world of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, fish, insects, and other invertebrates. It is informative, concisely written, and beautifully illustrated for the 8 to 13 year old child. Consultants for each animal classification are among Britain's and America's top scientists and teachers. In all, it's just what you'd expect from the National Geographic Society
Awesome book for any 5 year old

My son received this as a present when he was 4 1/2, since then my son knows more animals and animal facts that I can even keep track of. He know what part of the world they are from, if the animals live in fresh water or salt water, etc. He loves this book, takes it everywhere he goes and I buy it for every birthday party we go to. You can't beat this book.

This book rocks! I was so suprised when Seirra's boyfriend, Kevin, asked to marry him! What does she say? I'm not telling! Justin is up to his old tricks--this time, with Tamara! And Allison--well...I think she's the meanest "villian" ever--that makes her great! Read it!
The PAGEANT series is SO good!!!!!

I've also read the #1 and #2 in this series. Katie and Dean are meant to be together. Justin is a no-good, lying, cheating scum. Allison, a.k.a. The Virus, is a no-good,lying, cheating schemer who wreaks havoc whereever she goes. Justin and Allison are perfect for each other. I like Willow, Dawn, and Scarlet-Caress from #1, Molly, Sarah, Pepper, Roni, Shelby (Shylo's kinda mean), and Neely (who stole The Virus's roll of film to prevent her from developing it and showing Mrs. Crownwell-Stevens the picture of Shylo kissing Dean--you go, girl!), and Sierra, Zoey, Tamara, and Kimber (Tori's too weird). I also like Megan, Allison's sweet twin sister. I like these books a lot, and I'm gonna buy the next (is it the last one--I mean, what 'bout the national pageant--who's gonna win?) book in the series. Q.L.
I'll put it on my list of "top ten favorite book serirs"

I thought the book was pretty good. I was sort of glad that Allison took the picture of Shylo and Dean in the Midwest Girls (I hate the name Shylo!!!) If only Dean could have stayed in the pageant while Shylo would be sent packing. I hated the way she treated her twin sister. If she wanted to take her feeling out on someone, she had no right to take it out on Shelby. I got so happy when Tori got smacked but it also made me even more angry when Allison threatened her. When I went to the book store I found the National Pageant book and looked to the back to find out who the winner was (I could't wait to find out and I did that with all the other books too, hehehe). Allison kind of makes me like her, and then again she makes me hate her guts (it switchs back and forth). I like Dean a lot but he really should stop teling people that his girlfriend (Katie Laramie) is in the pageant. Somebody could just blurt it out or they could turm against Dean and tell Mrs. Crownwell-Stevens. I felt so sorry when Kimber found out what her mother did. But when I read the part when they were at the hospital I thought it was wrong of Mrs. Crownwell-Stevens to get mad at the nurse when she was just telling her about the blood being different (it wasn't her fault Kimber and her dad's blood were different). Anyways, I liked Mrs. Crownwell-Stevens, and the book was just as great as the others!!!
