This is a very well written, photographed and illustrated book that reveals many little known truths about the origins of Kentucky and the migration west through Cumberland Gap. It is a must read for all students of early Kentucky history. Virtually every other page contains either a map, illustration or beautiful photograph. The photography by world-renowned photographer, Adam Jones, is simply stunning! In truth, it is the photography of Adam Jones that first attracted me to this outstanding book. As a student of early Kentucky history, I consider this book in particular to be indispensable to understanding the truth surrounding the opening of Kentucky and all points west. This is a truly great historical work, replete with bibliograhical references, indicative of the author's extensive research. Therefore, I highly recommend it!

"Gentle Yoga : For People With Arthritis, Stroke Damage, M.S., or People in Wheelchairs" by Lorna Bell and Eudora Seyfer. They wrote a wonderful, easy to use, book for people of all physical levels in life, whether disabled or not. I am a person with a very compromised immune system and use the book faithfully. You can do the exercises from a chair, on the floor or wherever your ability allows you. For people just out of shape, it's a great beginning. And, we all have to start someplace:0)

Use this wonderful, comprehensive book. You won't be sorry or sore. This "Gentle Yoga" book and the authors are great too!

Since Yoga helps us in all stages of our lives, I think it's a very important read for those who haven't been able to or just haven't tried Yoga yet. Be good to yourself and start doing "Gentle Yoga" today:-)

This book is a compendium of interesting letters, articles, and essays concerning Inness, interspersed with a few reproductions. I don't recommend this book for the art but this is the best book for text. Of special interest is the essay by Inness' son about Inness' technique.

For the best reproductions I recommend George Inness: A Catalogue Raisonne (expensive but worth it if you are a hard core Inness enthusiast).

I first learned about Bell while studying archaeology and knew only of her involvement with the founding of the Iraq museum . However, I was unaware of the extent of her involvement in the politics of the region. This book is a timely and recommended read for anyone interested in the current situation in Iraq and the Middle East. It provides an well-written and fascinating look at the personalities and forces that shaped the region-Bell being one-and provides insight into the background of the conflicts there. It also is a brilliant portrait of Bell herself and the world of a daughter of privelege in the last days of the British Empire.

Having attended the Florida State University Study Program "a Firenze" from June to December 1976 and having returned nearly ten times since, Giambologna became one of my favorite Renaissance-Mannerist-Baroque sculptors. This book very well summarizes his life and works. Please enjoy learning more about Giambologna!

I read this book when I was a girl and I was so glad to find it on Amazon! I studied the ballet years ago and I could relate to it very well, even though I wasn't an orphan or and English girl. I recommend this book for all young girls. Even if you don't like ballet, the story is a good one! I'm 57 and I enjoyed it just as much now as I did then!

A Ringing Triumph

Review Date: 2001-05-26
If you are not familiar with those intriguing ornamental objects that graced many Victorian era tables, be parepared for a superbly enlightening excursion into these beautiful servant callers in Al Trinidad's "Glass Bells." Filled to the brim with a multitude of superb photographs by Bruce Waters and Jean Vong; a good majority in stunning color; "Glass Bells" is a must for anyone who wishes to view what may be considered a miniscule object in the antique universe. Additionally pleasing, the literary work matches the visuals with an easy to read composition and typestyle; producing a very educational, very entertaining work. Mr. Trinidad has itemized, categorized, and identified with engineering precision all the beautiful objects in the book. "Glass Bells" should be considered a prime acquisition for any reader of antiques books. A marvelous effort by all those associated with the publication.

I found this book charming, often touching, and just offbeat enough to keep it from being sentimental or conventional. A nice gift for dog lovers, and an unexpected pleasure.

Deep and Provocative!
Helpful Votes: 3 out of 3 total.
Review Date: 2008-06-01
This book of spiritual thoughts has caused me to stop dead in my tracks and think through what she said. There are some downright 'primal' thoughts in some of this poetry that will cause every person who reads it to go into reflection. Ms. Bell has a unique ability to express ideas in a way that often asks the question and answers it at the same time. A few didn't speak to me, but most overwhelmed me!

Very worth the read!
