This is a wonderful book for elementary age girls. The reading is fun and light while sending a message that self esteem is something you can find inside yourself. The illustrations are also well done.

Europe through the Prism of Japan: Sixteenth to Eighteenth Centuries by Jacques Proust (Professor of History, University of Montpellier) is a careful, detailed, scholarly analysis of how Japan perceived Europe from the mid-sixteenth to eighteenth century. Japanese-European interactions during this era are expertly scrutinized, and range from encounters with Dutch merchants to Spanish Catholic missionaries, as well as the German and Portuguese Jesuits. After reading this book and working through the real-life examples, I was awakened to a new world! It began with me questioning what I read and heard, and has progressed into my questioning any type of communication from any source, including myself. The book has taught me how to find just the facts in any communcation, and make decisions based soley on the facts, without being influenced by sensationalism, bias, prejedice, and the like. EXTREMELY HELPFUL!

Dr. Bell was my mentor when I first started studying psychology. It is through this method of critically evaluating psychology that I learned to think about psychology (and the world).

This book is a wonderful guide to be used in the classroom or as an independent study manual. It is clear and concise and well written. It assumes no prior knowledge about psychology and most will find it approachable and helpful.

Be warned: this book will change the way you look at the world! Mostly for the better but at times the critical thinking creeps in where you wish it wouldn't!

What a complete and thorough planner this was. I am from Iowa and my sister lives in Nebraska and to have a planner that walked me through step by step instructions, along with various places to keep valuable information, was second to the local resources I was able to easily access. This is definately a winner and well worth the investment.

I was delighted to get my hands on a copy of this book. I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely Karolyn Grimes a few years ago. While you picture her as still being little Zuzu Bailey in "It's a Wonderful Life", Karolyn went on to live an extremely full and busy life, outside of Hollywood. She's gone through both triumphs and tragedies and still comes out on top.

The pictures alone are just wonderful; showing the cute little tyke becoming a beautiful woman, wife, mother and grandmother.

If you're fan of "It's a Wonderful Life" you're going to enjoy this little gem if you can get your hands on a copy.

This book is an excellent , quick and handy book . It is meant for grades 1-3 and has lots of short questions that I ask my son while preparing dinner or other chores . It has quick questions like think of a 2 digit number, now double it, triple it etc... or hunt for 3 dimensional shapes in this room or something like that . I like the fact that the questions are hints for parents/ teachers that can be expanded on and used as fillers during those times when parents are busy and also want to spend time with their children . It enhances the mental math power of the children . It makes them do all the math in their mind without the need for a paper and pencil .This is something that you can put it in your purse and take it and play fun math games with your child while waiting in a long line or useful during a long car / plane ride . All in all, a very handy , smart book for parents / teachers to use it with their children / students .

Eyes Closed, Whispers thru the dark is a must have book in 2008. The author of this book opens you up to a reality of a life familiar to some,maybe unfamiliar to others. Either way, it will leave you wanting more. Definitly and eye opening attention grabbing read.
