This book packs a wealth of easily digestable information into a small and inexpensive package. I dove headfirst into web design a few months ago with Macromedia Studio MX, and having never seen Flash from the developer's side before, found it quite easy to learn with the help of this book. I know that there's a lot more to Flash than is covered here, but if you need step-by-step instructions and practical examples illustrated in full color to help get you started, this is the book for you.

First, let the records state that, to me, Sandra Becker was not an honorable mention for the Robert Fraser poetry competition, but ultimately its winner. I was at the reception reading, and after listening to the winner (I forget who he was) read, I came to the conclusion that if I brazenly snagged the handbag right off Sandra's shoulder and was never seen again, that wouldn't have constituted as nearly a grand robbery as what happened with the contest. After Sandra herself read at that reading, judging by crowd reaction, I'm sure I wasn't the only one who felt that way either.

Sandra Becker's poetry means alot, particularly to myself. It wasn't until I saw Sandra Becker and Meg Kearney read in March 2002, that I immersed myself perhaps a bit too fanatically into the world of poetry. It wasn't until recently that I could let my eyes feast on Becker's poems with her debut release of "Foreign Bodies".

I must admit, this "body" of work turned out to be quite a bit more "foreign" than what I had in mind (sorry, a terrible attempt at a pun. But seriously, it was different than I was expecting). The most prominent angle of "Foreign Bodies" is one of the medical profession, a field in which Sandra is quite experienced in firsthand. I felt this to be quite an interesting, fresh, and even brave approach to putting together a first body of work. Becker somehow succeeds in her use of medical terminology (terminology from a profession often typecast and written off as being enamel and emotionless) creating a hurricane of long lasting emotion within the heart of the reader. The poems themselves are sometimes comprised with, what some may find to be a bit of adjective overload, but this is in keeping with the whole medical theme of each detail being taken into account. And yet, strangely, these poems are all very short (only two poems exceed a page, none exceed two), allowing for the reader to stay attentive and to never lose interest in a poem. Quite the tasty conundrum. An excellent book, one which is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

So why 4 stars as opposed to 5? I hate being an ungrateful and whiney nitpick, but a few of Becker's most powerful works from her readings were never incorporated into "Foreign Bodies". The loss of a star isn't because of the shortcomings in "Foreign Bodies", but rather because I know Sandra simply has better stuff which was omitted from the book. MEMOIRS OF A FLOWER and (I'm not sure if this is the real title of the poem) ANDREA (which almost made me cry during a reading) are amongst some of Becker's finest, though you won't find them in "Foreign Bodies". I can understand the omissions, though, being that they don't quite fit in with the medical theme. Perhaps they'll be found in the next Sandra Becker publication, which I am highly anticipating from this outstanding poet.

Becker's message is one that should be headed today. Our present society, based on the love of government programs and depending on them, is the subtle threat to our freedom. Becker clearly shows why we need to cast off the comfortable chains of Washington D.C. and go back to doing for ourselves.

EVERYTHING you need to know is broken down in an easy to read, organized, precise manner containing the most relevant needed information on a topic.

This is a good book for any jewelry designer who wishes to research jewelry trends through history. It is a very useful guide for a historical overview of jewelry. For those more interested in detailed information on a particular time period though I would reccomend a book more specific the time period of intrest. With that in mind, I thought that this book was very well done. The pictures are large and clear, enabling a good view of details. The accompanying text is also very informative for the given time periods.

The folks that continue to bring us such consice and informative works over the years have done so again with this great wall calander. You'll find desserts,braekfasts,easy to make dinners and they even give low-fat a nod. Smart recipes,good taste combine for fully functional art.

i love this book, everything is written well and the recipes are delicious and easy to follow. the ONLY thing i would say is that it doesn't have a ton of recipes. i may use it for one or two, but i always go back to martha for her huge selection of every kind of hors d'oeuvre in the universe. her book is amazing. but, this is great to have and i use it often.

This is a fun book of Bible lessons for groups of younger children. We are using it for 4 yr olds through 3rd graders, and it adapts easily for all those ages. There are cute skits & plays to be put on by the students impromptu when they get to class or prepared earlier by a drama troup. The author thoughtfully included prep ideas for either adaptation. We will look for more from this author!!

Seriously, this book is my favorite in the series, which happens to be my fave series too. The awesome way Becker mixed magic with mystery, fun with fantasy, and style with comedy, is absolutely AMAZING!
