Beck promises elegance and easy change ... which does not exist. <br />The foundations of his ideas can be found in the Emergent-Cyclical Model from Clare W. Graves. Most of the work from Clare W. Graves is available from two sources: on www.clarewgraves.com and in the book: "Clare W. Graves Human Nature - The Never Ending Quest", published by ECLET publishing. <br />Clare W. Graves proposes that human cognition, researched through the question: "What is a psychologically healthy mature human being" develops in stages that are seperated by 'quantum jumps'; that the differences between the stages (between the quantum-jumps) are of a fundamental nature that causes deep misunderstanding and inter-system tensions that non of the systems can overcome; that human development or ethical 'right' does never reaches an end-state. <br />The idea of 'natural design' itself is an idea that causes similar misunderstanding because it is only useful to one stage of development. This basic flaw in the thinking of Beck is in other areas of life on earth the cause for mishap, plunder and death. <br /> <br />Let's hope this book will be judged on its merits it wants to be judged - 'elegance' and may I hope I am wrong in my evaluation of the total uselessness of this specific application of the E-C model as interpreted by Beck for organizational and political problems. <br /> <br />Get to know the theory and model of Graves will allow readers a deeper insight in human dynamics both within and without their own personal lives, organization and 'democratic' nations. <br /> <br /> <br />One thing that stands out from Clare W. Graves ideas that gained ground in the thinking of Beck is that change is easy using the model. What he forgets is that the inter-system tension goes everyway. Much Better Books on the Topic Out There

What happens when someone with the ego the size of New York gets a book contract? Read this book and find out. This guy is amassing, the book details out his make and break it life in Wall Street and is more of an additional way for him to continue pumping up his ego. There are promises of his wheeling and dealing details and how he was one of the majors in the Junk Bond and M & A scene of he 80's, but once you read the book it seams more like he was always looking in the window at the real players. Overall the book does not really give you much new info, it really is just a description of this arrogant fat at that wanted the world to treat him like a king. I would suggest you not be an enabler to his egomania and move past this book. If you are interested in this topic then I would suggest you also read "Den of Thieves" and "Predator's Ball", both of which cover the 80's M&A and Junk Bond world. To get a better understanding of KKR, I would suggest "Masters of Debit".
