This is a great book, written and conceived by a wonderful woman. I have known Vivian my whole life. Her husband and my late father were the best of friends. My dad was white, and Bob is black. Because of them, I did not learn racism, but humanism. They are the greatest people God has created.

Whew! Talk about knocking one out of the park!!! In these chapters we find some of the most articulate and evidence-based conversations around the dynamic issue of professional development in the early childhood field. These chapters provide the foundation for fiscally responsible spending and informed decision making for entities that support early childhood workforce initiatives. Way to go Martha and Ivelisse. You will want to buy several copies to share with your colleagues as they will hear you talking a lot about what you've learned and read in this text

A "must have" children's book

More popular with our 2-1/2 year-old son than "The very quiet cricket", "Where the Wild Things Are" and "Goodnight Moon." My son just loves this book. This is a children's story about cars which go over the bridge and boats which go under it. One day the bridge is stuck halfway between up and down, and so are all the cars, trucks, boats, and people in them. It has colorful pictures of cars and trucks and tells a little story about the drivers and passengers of each vehicle. E.g. "Betty sings as she drives her school bus over the bridge to take the children to school." (paraphrased) We parents appreciate that all the maps are consistent about what is on which side of the bridge. The bunny-eared car driven by a vetenarian adds a bit of whimsy.

--My Secret War, by Mary Pope Osbourne is a very good read, in my opinion. This book is a diary of a girls father who is in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, and how she deals with her father in the war.

--This year was my 3rd or 4th time reading this book. I really liked it. I really like reading books based on true facts, and also war books. I'm really into Pearl Harbor, as well. This is a good book [[for anybody to read]] because it tells about the life of a military daughter. Her [[Maddie's]] dad was in the national guard [[they didn't explain what he was in, but its similar to that]], and this book was a diary explaining her life, and how she related. She wrote about her crush, The Star Points, Her K3F club for the war effort, and about how much she missed her dad.

--I give this book 5 stars because it's a good read for all ages of people, and anyone would like this book, even if they weren't really into the war thing [[I think. I didn't even get into, until I found out about my family's history in the war, and after reading this book, too]]. It also keeps you at the edge of your seat, most of the time [[Especially if you're in the middle of a really good part, and the bell rings, and you HAVE to drop the book]].

--If you're into diaries, old-time stories, historical dates, war, or are just looking for a good read, I'd suggest reading this one, or any of the Dear America series books.

I obtained a copy of this book while traveling, when I needed something to read. How happy I was with this delightful English mystery! K.K. Beck developed each character in such a descriptive and lifelike way, that I felt I knew each personally. The mystery was woven intricately, and I was honestly unable to predict the murderer until several chapters from the end. A wonderful read!!!!!

Don't let the title fool you. Yes--this book is full of compelling kitchen decoration projects, but it is so much more than that. There are quilts, tablecloths, curtains, chair covers, totes, pillows, pot holders and matching directions for folk painting objects to go with the theme kitchens. There are four main kitchen themes. Vintage Kitchen is in red and white patchwork with redwork inserts. I'm crazy for redwork, country kitchens and antique oak. I have an antique wooden office chair that I have failed to paint and I'm going to make the chair cover in this book. The Koffee Klatch Kitchen is a log cabin theme in bright red, blue, yellow and white. I've got to make the table runner! Antique Fruit Kitchen has an apple quilt to die for. Folk Art Rooster Kitchen is warm browns, tans, and deep red. There are folk art pillows,a table runner, and a rooster on a stick that make me laugh and will no doubt make me sew! There's a chapter on kitchen completers too--more nonfabric projects! The color plates in this book are awesome and I want my kitchen to look like everyone of these themes! The directions are clear and have color pictures and diagrams! This book took an honorable mention in the Accidental Quilter's Quilting Book Award 2000. :)the accidental quilter

A bit of a surprise, but beautiful!

Having done tole painting, and having worked in a fabric store for years, I was well acquainted with Leslie Beck's designs. I have always loved them!

When I discovered this book, I was thrilled. The patterns and illustrations are gorgeous. Definitely a more contemporized country, which is more my style. The surprise came when I realized there were more craft projects than I had expected.

There's some gorgeous patterns for quilted pet pillows, a variety of beautiful pillows and quilts, plus some cute garden accents to paint. Being a crafter, for longer than I can remember, it was abit of a surprise as I was expecting just quilting and sewing. But there are some cute craft ideas in this book, for instance a painted watering can with a flower and bees, a couple planters and a lampshade with leaves and acorns painted.

My favorites are illustrated on the front cover, the 'Weather Outside' wallhanging, coordinating quilt and throw cushion, and even a pet cushion. My next favorite would be the 'summer' lap quilt and pillows, done in red, cream and navy stripes (like a basketweave pattern).

If you're looking strictly for patchwork, or more traditional quilting, this book probably would disappoint. If you're more like me and enjoy a more contemporary version of country or americana, you'll truly enjoy the book. Just remember that about a third of the book has painting/crafting projects.
