Beatrix Books

I bought this book for my two little nieces to go with the plush rabbit. What a darling book! Many collections of other books by Beatrix Potter. The rhymes and riddles were very clever, and reading the poems brough back many good memories of my grandmother reading to me! Great little book!

My now six-year old, used to listen to this every night before she went to bed. The quality of this reading is simply top-notch. Only the Brits should read Beatrix Potter on tape. It's the only way.

I cannot praise the quality of this ebook enough and urge you to get a copy. It is produced with care. These kinds of collections are usually called a treasury, but this one really is a treasure!

This is a beautiful hardcover book with full-size Beatrix Potter designs and patterns - all in color. Worth owning for the Beatrix Potter clipart alone. Lots of church toys (quiet), samplers, some baby clothing, baby mobile, rug, shawl, cross-stitch, knitting, needlepoint, sewing, stencilling, decoupage, woodworking, and much more.

This is an outstanding book and a must-have for those who love Beatrix Potter's work. While most people think of Potter as the author of those delightful children's books, this book shows the full range of her work. Anne Stevenson Hobbs did an outstanding job in presenting the art in a very enjoyable manner - a real plus for those lucky enough to own this book.

This is a wonderful book for adults and children alike. It's printed in Singapore, as one can readily tell from the book's hefty semi-gloss paper and wonderful inked colors. The cover, uniquely padded and soft, begs for little hands to hug it and carry it around. Complete with all the Beatrix Potter illustrations generations have come to love, the rhymes are clever, simple and sure to become a night-time story frequent request. The size of the book is ample, good for sharing/holding the book between child and parent.

This conveniently small (portable!) book has words and idioms arranged in standard dictionary format (for idioms this means organized by key words). Example sentences make usage very clear. I only have one complaint: idioms are not identified regionally. At any rate this book would serve admirably as an aid to translation or understanding. After the dictionary proper there are several smaller sections of words grouped by theme and translated in both directions: English false friends (extensive!), journalese, telephoning, food and dishes, travelling, motoring/technical auto terms, animal comparisons and analogies, AND a small section of English idioms. This little book is incredibly helpful and you won't need another one like it.

Goosy Goosy Gander also wanders through the pages acommpanied by those five little fingertip-pigs who go to market, stay at home, eat meat,have none, and the littlest one who goes crying all the way home, wee wee wee! The Three Blind Mice and Ninny Nanny Netticoat, the first riddle every child should hear and know, also bring life to this delightful 4"x5.5" (approximate size) child-sized book.

The innoncence of childhood is captured in Potter's muted tones while the rhythm and rhymes of the poems encourage and develop the young child's delight in language-play while it also encourages the love of language. For the sheer pleasure of hearing a young child's laughter, cuddle up and read this book to him or her.

Jemima Puddle-duck wants to hatch her eggs all by herself, but the farmer's wife will not let her. In desperation, whe decides to make a nest away from the farm. So she sets off to look for a nice quiet spot to lay her eggs. While waddling about in search of a dry nesting-place, she comes across a fox reading a newspaper. After hearing her story, the cunning fox tells Jemima of his wood-shed full of feathers where she may sit as long as she like. Jemima takes him up on this generous offer, and follows the hospitable gentleman to his house. What will become of the unsuspecting Jemima Puddle-duck?
If you have never read a book by Beatrix Potter, you are missing out. This story, as well as all her others, is a must-have classic. You have to read this book!

This compilation of Peter Rabbit stories is best suited as a reference . To get a real feel for the work of Beatrix Potter the original format books are far superior(and easier to cuddle up with). A complete set is pricey but worth it if you want to start a collection for your children.
