This book is full of surprises. A great insight into the mind of a man-child. Great book club material.

I reccommend Inside the Minstrel Mask. A fascinating survey of the minstrel show, including some of the songs and skits that were popular.
Also includes some astute analysis.

I ordered several bean books in one order, hoping to find one that I would really like. Trying to incorporate beans into my diet for health reasons, I was tired of the same old recipes again and again. This book was one of the better that I ordered. I only give it 4 stars because there are no pictures. However, what impressed me was that most of the recipes are low fat. Also, there is a great diversity of ideas, including soups, appetizers, dips, salads, main dishes, side dishes, etc. One is not limited to eating beans only as a main course. It also does not limit the recipes to dishes made exclusively of beans, but dishes that include beans.
I recommend it to anyone who is just trying to eat healthier, vegetarians who must eat beans for protein or those who just enjoy the flavor and texture of beans.

The story was good as expected for the Veggie Tales books. The book was personalized for Abby (a 3 year old). The disappointing part was that there was no picture of Abby in the book. Our granddaughter, Abby, could not understand why the book did not show Abby with Larry and Bob.

The child this book is personalized for becomes the leader as s/he joins the problem-solving adventurers --a cucumber and a tomato -- ta da! the Veggies! Nicely done.
However, the product discription leaves one in doubt as to whether one is buying the series of six, either all at once or periodically, or a single book. A smashing bargain if it's all six, which it sounds like, but a rather expensive one-time-only paperback, which it is.
I'll probably buy more, but only for special occasions, given the price.

Ted and Joe want to go on a camping trip by themselves, but not just any camping trip - they want an adventure and to "live off the land." They earn as much money as they can and place an order from the L. L. Bean catalog for a tent and other items. They've told their parents they'll be going camping just outside of town near the Snake River, which is slow-moving and brown. But they actually plan to hike several miles beyond that to the McCable River which, from the stories they've heard, is full of huge black bass, and is basically a wilderness area. Everything goes well and they're having the time of their lives, catching bigger fish than they'd ever dreamed of, until trouble strikes.

This was a book I read and enjoyed when I was a kid so my 10 year old son and I re-read it. He isn't usually an avid reader of fiction and it's hard to find books that really keep his attention, but he enjoyed this one. It's not especially fast-paced but it has a certain appeal to young boys and they can relate to the adventure in the story. My only concern (reading it as a parent) was the frequent depictions of the kids smoking at what they felt were "special" moments. Note: Amazon has the reading-level listed as being for "Baby-Preschool" which is incorrect. It should be for 9-12 year olds.

I like this book for language therapy with preschoolers. Because it is very simple, with few words, it helps the child clue in to the new vocabulary which includes days of the week and some great verbs. I use it to teach regular past tense (Jasper planted, Jasper watered, etc.) and in a different setting present progressive (Jasper is planting, Jasper is watering...) The kids enjoy it and don't realize how much they are learning!

Almost all of the bean recipe cook books I have are vegetarian (I guess omnivores aren't supposed to eat legumes) so it was great to find a bean cook book that included both meat and meat free recipes. A lot of great recipes like ham 'n beans, french white beans, south american beans with pork, italian pasta and beans, east indian dal, carribean and many more. The wide variety of recipe styles is what makes this book a valuable addition to any cook book collection.

This book was recommended to me by a math teacher. It is like most of the other counting books (M&Ms, Goldfish, etc), except that it can be used to teach colors. It also makes for talking about your favor type of jelly beans. It is a good book.

I got this without knowing anything about BoohBahs, and it squeezed out all my 2-year-old's former favorite books for quite awhile (she's back with some of her old faves again now, after several weeks of nonstop Boohbah). She has certain pages that are her favorites and she goes straight to them and then stares at them for the longest time. She's mysteriously captivated. I give this only 4 stars, not 5, because I'm not really sure what is going on in her mind and whether it's good for her. She is too little to explain to me why she is so tranfixed by this book. However, it sure makes for peaceful bedtimes!
