I found this text to be very helpful in designing interesting and meaningful ways for students to enjoy content area reading
and developing ways to help them gain better comprehension of the read material. It was organized in an easy to understand
format but the authors consistent use of graphic organizers throughout the text did not seem to necessarily help in my understanding
of the chapters. I did like, however, many of the techniques they mentioned, especially for vocabulary and writing. The
reading roulette and different word puzzles and anticipation guides mentioned are good ideas that are easily incorporated
into any lesson in any content area. This text, at the very least, provided a good basis for any teacher to design interesting
activities to make reading in the content areas a little less intimidating and a lot more interesting.

A great mystery that had me wondering until the very end, including having to re-read the last chapter to catch all the information
given. A great account of an extremely dysfunctional family that will protect their own at all costs. I would highly recomend
this to anyone interested in Texas novels.

While enjoying this book to some extent, I don't know anyone who would sacrifice his family and freedom for a sibling. While
I love my family very much, I sincerely doubt that I would cover up something they had done wrong and then take the fall for
them. A totally unrealistic ending, given the history of this disfunctional family.

There's a raw edginess that makes this book quite different from standard diary compilations. There's the young tennager
desperate to understand his father, the woman who still believes that nirvana is just over the next hill and the man trying
to make sense of his wife's affair. What's NOT there is the smarmy self-absorption in which so many of these types of diaries
tend to wallow.
Makes you wonder who would plop down in a coffee shop and leave pieces of their soul for the world to see. A little jewel of a book.

Having been a camper for well over 50 years now and a collector of outdoor books, I am a bit familiar with this type of book.
While I certainly would not recommend an extreme wildreness trek using only this book as a guide, it is filled with a remarkable
amount of useful information. No camping book is the beginning and end of all information of the subject and this is certainly
no exception. I did find several helpful tips and you certainly will not be hurt in anyway by reading this one. The book
is well designed, does not push L.L. Bean stuff, which I found refreshing, and is quite readable.

even though i have been camping every summer, all my life, this book is very nice with good tips. some list on what is needed
and what you can leave behind ( i always pack too much). good ideas for camping with kids. some basic safety tips on lightning,
first aid, snake bite, etc. good tips on what type of equipment is out there. i was surprised that there wasn't a big push
to buy l.l. bean equipment. it was a very well rounded book.

An excellent historical account of the Civil War and the harsh realities associated with the worst war in United States history.
Characters were well developed and true to their time period. A romance woven into the bloody, cruel asspects life on the
battle front. Lorena is realistic and compasionate. Not a book for the weak of stomach, but for those that appreciate a
wonderful story. GREAT READ!

As a person who happens to enjoy civil war history, I found the historical perspectives really interesting. I thought that
the main characters showed the emotional restraints appropriate to the times. But it was not a book I wanted to cuddle up
and read. The constant discussion of sawing off limbs, while a part of that period, was not exactly conducive to a restful
sleep. It had good historical detail, nice characters, kept your interest, and moved quickly. While this seems to be a
love story, there is too much "blood and guts" in the book to really consider it a true romance novel.

I heard Orson being interviewed on the Dennis Miller radio show and after hearing about his book, I just had to read it.
I was blessed that I did. Orson's writing style is wonderfully fresh. I laughed out loud and cried moments later. I felt
like I had a lot in common with the way Orson came about his belief's in God and Jesus.

Fully understand types of childbirth preparation

Review Date: 2006-09-01
What I appreciated most about this book is that it helped me fully understand the various methods of preparation for childbirth.
Because I only attended the "how to be a good patient" hospital childbirth classes before the birth of my first child, I felt
like I was lacking a lot of knowledge about how to better prepare for birth. I got a lot out of the history of childbirth
methods and preparation types. It helped me see why today's popular methods (Bradley, Lamaze, etc.) came to being and how
mothers and their experiences are affected by each. I used this information later while pregnant with my second child to make
the best choices for me.
A little hard to get into, but definitely worth reading.

This book has some of the best information I've ever read
about childbirth choices. The section on the politics of
childbirth is excellent. Unfortunately, this book is not as
easy to read as some other pregnancy books, so may be over-looked
too often. As a childbirth educator, I have found it invaluable.

This book ends one of the most interesting stories that I have ever read. The end of this book does drag on a little but it
is worth it. If you have not read any of Heirs of Ash books give it a try. Rich Wulf did a very good job creating this story.
A solid conclusion to the trilogy

Review Date: 2007-11-05
Rise of the Seventh Moon by Rich Wulf is the third book of the trilogy titled; Heirs of Ash. The first book in this trilogy
is Voyage of the Mourning Dawn: Heirs of Ash, Book 1 (Heirs of Ash) and the second is titled Flight of the Dying Sun: Heirs
of Ash, Book 2 (Heirs of Ash). If you are considering reading this novel, and have not yet read the first two, you really
need to read those first. Events that occur during this novel relate heavily to events from the first two books and a reader
could be easily lost if they don't have that base of knowledge and understanding. That's not to say this is a bad book, it
is just that Mr. Wulf builds off the first two books and some things won't make sense unless you know what happened before.
The plot of this book does a very good job at tying up most of the plot lines from the first two books. There is definite closure on the main points, as well as a few of the subplots. Contrary to some series I have read, there is a definite end, and as a reader, that is something I appreciate. Mr. Wulf also leaves the door open for a couple pieces that could continue, yet he does it in such a way that it feels natural, not something to where he is forcing a larger story. Fans of this trilogy will be happy to know there is a finality to the Legacy, a finality in the battle with Marth, Zamiel's storyline is also concluded. I did feel the beginning of the novel was a little slow and sluggish. However, this can mostly be attributed to Mr. Wulf `reminding' the reader of several key elements that previously occurred in the first two books. I can see how this would be a benefit a reader that had a large period of time between books. To me, it felt a little much, but maybe I am not the average reader either. Overall, I think the plot was very well written and seemed much more succinct than book two.
The characters of this novel, much like the first two books, are fantastic. All the characters that one would expect to return from the first two books are back; Seren, Omax, Tristam, Arthen, and many more. One thing I particularly enjoyed about the characters is they all seemed to have their own voice and were different from each other. Without question, each character had their own motivations for actions and they stayed true to that not only through this novel, but the series as a whole. Also, there were no clichéd characters. Every character seemed fresh and unique. In my review of Flight of the Dying Sun, I said I was disappointed in the fact that there seemed to be so little character development. Mr. Wulf has alleviated that criticism with this novel. There is a tremendous amount of character development that was simply a joy to read. I enjoy novels where there is significant character development and this was near perfect on that account.
This is an odd trilogy to review. The first book I enjoyed quite a bit, the second book I did not care for. In fact, the second book I even mentioned it felt as though it were written by someone else. Yet, this book is almost identical to the feel of the first book, so it redeemed the series in my eyes. Mr. Wulf recaptured the magic that made me enjoy the first book so much. I was very pleased to see that.
The only criticisms I have of this novel are the sluggishness of the first four chapters or so. As well as the feeling that the ending seemed to be a little rushed and a victim of word count. It seemed as though Mr. Wulf wanted to say more, in a more complete way, yet due to word count restrictions he had to cut some things. Don't get me wrong, the ending is complete and makes sense, it just seems like it could be more complete.
Overall, I enjoyed this novel quite a bit, and enjoyed the trilogy as well. I think fans of Eberron will definitely enjoy several things about this series. Fantasy fans in general who are looking to delve into the world of Eberron will find this trilogy a very good offering of what the world has to offer. I can easily see myself recommending this trilogy to people looking for a solid trilogy. I am eagerly looking forward to the next offering from Mr. Wulf.

This pamphlet is a basic guide to types of beans, how to prepare them, and then use them in recipes. For what it is--small
pamphlet-- it is adequate. I would rate it 3.5 stars because it would have been nice to have more up-to-date info on bean
usage, as well as more recipes.
