Harriet loves a good mystery, and together she and her aunts are always interested in a new case, so when she discovers lost
cowgirl aunt named Formica, she already envisions an addition to their detective force. But cattle rustlers are Aunt Formica's
problem - and it may take the entire team to solve the problem. A little under a hundred pages of action paired with black

If you are an avid reader, you know how much of a gamble it can be to pick up a book by an author you've never heard of and
jump into the middle of a series. You could get lucky and find a great new author to read or you could just be wasting your
time.
Well, I'm pleased to report that this is a great book and I'm going to seek out the others in the series. 'Death in Victory' is the third in a series featuring Harry Starbranch, the town police officer in Victory, Wyoming.
Rather than go through plot details I'll give you a general idea about the book. 'A Death in Victory' read a bit like Robert Parker meets Tony Hillerman. Starbranch is a wisecracking cop who is not afraid to throw his fists. He has friends and connections everywhere and is not afraid to use them. But, like Hillerman, there's an acknowledgement of the reality of the immmenseness of the wide open western spaces. He describes Wyoming and its culture as lovingly as Hillerman describes the Navajo reservation and its environs.
In case you are wondering, you do not have to read the previous books in the series in order to follow along with this one.
Good plot, well-paced. The ending surprised me but also made sense. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I give this one an A.

An important perspective of San Diego History

I am currently learning about California Native American History, but there are so few books out there. The ones that do
exist such as Indians of CA: The Changing Image by James Rawls & Strangers In A Stolen Land by Richard Carrico are informative,
but rely on newspapers and Euro-American opinion as a primary source. Albeit important, these books do not reflect Native
American perspectives at all. This biography is the only text I know of that attempts to fill this gap. I especially like
this book because I grew up in San Diego and to learn about what this county looked like 100 years ago moves me. Knowing
the places that Delfina Cuero mentions sometimes brings me to tears. It is an invaluable piece of history, and it is an inspirational
account of human resilience.

This Dover Publication book, originally published in 1980 in Canada, contains full-sized cardboard templates and step-by-step
directions for 9 delightful toys. They can be made from felt, or a seam allowance can be added to make them from regular material.
Patterns included are: a cat, a taxi, a gingerbread house, a frog, a mouse, a fish, a heart, a gingerbread man and a sunbonnet sue.
It is difficult to find full-sized patterns printed on heavy card stock ready to use. These patterns could be adapted to other uses such as applique patterns.

I thought this book was great. Origins and descriptions of flavors of all beans were so interesting and informative. Wonderful
recipes. Personal notes of Elizabeth's favorites was great. Finally, where to find these beans was so helpful. Some recipe
books leave this one out. Also, lovely pictures.

I came across a review for this book in a UK needlecraft magazine, whereby it was described as "Real embroidery". This is
probably the closest thing you will get to real embroidery and I have purchased most books on the same lines. Her projects
come alive off the page making one want to reach out and pick the flowers. The designs are stitched using long and short stitch
shading, padding and a small amount of stumpwork techniques all of which create a 3D effect. The instructions are clearly
illustrated and once you have tried the projects in this book you will never look back, you will be addicted and will never
be able to pass a plant or flower without wanting to paint it with your needle. Highly recommended, a must for keen embroiderers
or beginners wanting to learn.

THE definitive text on wildlife law

The first edition of this work, published in 1977, was considered a landmark in legal scholarship. Subsequent editions have
lived up to that standard. The present edition (3rd) is expanded to cover related laws in the United States that impact wildlife.
The organization of this book follows an historical view up until the 1970s. From that point the book follows the development
of wildlife law in response to the changing cultural values of "the environmental era."
There is little concerning wildife law in the United States that is not covered in this volume. The exception is the myriad of state laws, a task that would have consumed ten times the amount of space. All in all, this is a standard reference in the highest sense of the word. I have used this as a text in not only wildlife management classes, but also environmental ethics and environmental policy. The book is that useful. I highly recommend this to anyone interested in wildlife and wildlife law.

Barb's wonderful collection is a must for a vegan / vegeterian kitchen. Ingredients are presented clearly and instructions
are easy to follow. The reader is presented a wide range of delicious recipes. They are so many beans with different textures,
flavors, and appeal. Revel in them! Also highly recommend Louise Hagler's "Tofu Cookery" - the two volumes are a comprehensive
start to a vegan / vegeterian cookbook library.
