Maple syrup is a unique North American food product that has a distinctive flavor and a distinguished history. "Maple Moon" is a gorgeous presentation of recipes, food photographs, and maple syrup stories and history.
The Maple Moon was a season of celebration and feasting among the indigenous peoples of eastern North America as the maple sap rose, was harvested and processed.
This "Maple Moon" cookbook has a superb collection of maple syrup and maple sugar recipes that include such luscious offerings, both savory and sweet, as Apple Blueberry Pie with Maple Sugar Crust, Mango Maple Meringues, Mango Maple Tiger Shrimp, Maple Pecan Chocolate Pie, Oven Roasted Maple Onion Potatoes, Maple Ginger Chicken, Maple Macadamia Ice Cream, and dozens more. I have made about 30 of these fantastic recipes and I am hooked. For Christmas all the people I really care about are going to get a bottle of maple syrup and a copy of "Maple Moon".

Still the definitive work

While this book is now 50 years old, it is still the definitive American work on spring creek fishing. At the time of the writing, it is true, Marinaro was unaware of U.S. spring creeks outside of Pennsylvania, this does not diminish its value.

He realized that this type of fishing was firmly rooted in the 19th century English chalkstream traditions, and built a solid work upon this foundation.

Some of what he says, in reference to flies, is either dated or irrelevant to most anglers, and his neglect of the sunken fly will disappoint a few, but his tactics cannot be faulted. Indeed, strategies touted as the most modern are clearly described, along with their pros and cons, unlike the treatment given them in some current works.

A fine piece of literature, as well as one of the most significant angling books of the 2oth century.

He "Knows" Who Did It

Sassaafrass Bates (yep, that's his name) is a dirt poor country youngun. His Ma is dead, his Pa gone, and he lives on a weather-beaten old farm with his three aunts.

According to him, one aunt is downright sneaky, another has cold black eyes and thin lips, and the third is nothin' but mean lookin'. One of them (he's not certain which, yet) has sure enough killed his pet hound dog, and he's gonna get even--just short of murder.

Well, things don't work out the way Sass has figured they might and that's what's so interesting. You'll find the story funny--even though Sass is dead serious.

[Humorous realistic fiction--with a poor rural setting--suitable for grades three through seven.]

This is a great book to answer those questions that your mama and grandmama can't help you with. Anything and everything related to social situations that are part of the African-American community are in this book, as well as, what good manners are.

We wanted a book to prepare our three year old for our upcoming puppy. This book does exactly that. It goes through the process of preparing for puppy, going to the breeder ( not pet store ) to see all of the puppies and selecting one. Then at home, it shows how puppy needs to sleep in the kitchen on newspaper, and that puppies have accidents. It is great for introducing the "new arrival" ( similar to a book on being a new sibling ) to a toddler. We would highly reccomend this book.

Lively collection of essays about the golden years.

A charming collection of essays on the glories of the golden years--these are funny, poignant and have the ring of true experiences. The profusion of fine line drawings that illustrate the book suit its gentle humor. The fact that the author was born in Australia and has lived in Ireland, England and the USA adds color and interest to the colection.n
