Bates Books

This book is very informative and has a lot of images. It helps new Technologists to know what normal anatomy looks like, so when an abnormal finding comes along they will be more apt to see it and question it.

This is the best book I Have ever read on art projects. The ones in this book involve fabric, and are relly fun to make. The pictures are great, and each project is taught step by step with a special picture. It is very easy to follow along, and I will be using this book for a long time. I recommend it to teachers and parents that want to have their kids make fun projects without getting confused. A must read.

Not many books change your life.

HE Bates had a magical ability to evoke scenes of beauty and peace. In this novel, against a background of violence and fear. When I first read 'Fair Stood The Wind For France' as a schoolboy, I was attracted by the story of the heroic RAF bomber pilot shot down behind enemy lines in France, and his efforts to escape back to England. As I read it I realised that war was not heroic and glamorous, but filled with fear and disfigurement. Hardly an unique epiphany to be sure! But what brought it home to my fifteen year-old mind was Bates' simple illustration of his hero contemplating his inability ever again to open a bottle of wine and pour a glass. A banal task whose infinitesimal pleasure is usually lost against the noise of our lives. Bates brings home the happiness we can glean from the everyday, through his ability to conjure beauty from the mundane. Read this book for the beauty that Bates can evoke. Read it again to learn the value of a moment.

A very touching, moving biography. You can tell the author understood first hand the life and ways of the era and culture. A short read, but a memorable one. I think it would make a good movie.

I've read this book three times over the past several years and each time I read it, I find something new to treasure. If you like great writing and moving stories about relationships that matter, this book is for you. Paulette Bates Alden's stories are emotionally intense, yet the writing is elegant, reserved. I lost my copy of Feeding the Eagles, and realized I can't stand not to have it on my shelf, so I'm buying another copy. It's good stuff...highly recommended.

I bought this book a little while ago and i LOVE it! Since i am going to get some finches soon, I decided to by this book. I am SO glad I did! I reccomend this book to everyone and anyone who is going to get finches or soft-billed birds or needs a good reference!

This 'raw food program' really works. I am currently on their suggested food regimen (3/2008) and three days into the food program I started to detox. I have a 'busy' mind (all over the place). My mind finally was quieted without meditation and I feel very peaceful inside, as though I was on vacation internally and also, my skin became very smooth. I am thoroughly happy with the results. I am going to continue on this eating regimen another 10 days. I plan to do a complete overhaul of my diet. THIS REALLY WORKS and FAST!!!

This must have book for anyone taking up salmon fishing or for those people that just want to know more about the subject. I consider this book the BIBLE of all Altantic Salmon fishing books. It covers it all in great detial.

This is a massive book with 718 pages. Almost 2" THICK!! It weighs about 6 lbs. Written by Joseph Bates around 1972, this is a dark blue clothbound, hardcover OUTDOOR LIFE book published by Dutton. Its DJ is in ... condition, but the pages and the rest are in superb shape. Has color photos of lures and lots of B & W and color photography of fishing scenes from many great spots! Great guide to tackle and tactics for fresh and salt water. AN all around great guide for that avid outdoorsman, who's not happy unless he's around water waiting for that next fish to rise.

The words are classic, but illustrations are what I love about the book. The litte ducks go off one by one each getting distracted by a simple treasure and finally return to their mom. My girls love the rhythm of the words and finding the treats that each little duck brings back to their mom. My twins are just about two and love this book!
