No doubt this is my favorite - the poems in here are superb, from Japanese Haikus to the more mysterious and inscrutable (well to me anyway) "Coyote Tantras" (were these written under the influence of drugs? They have a hallucinatory quality to them ) to "Giotto's Circle."
Gifford has said in the past that poetry is often the hardest to write, of all the different forms he writes (ie novellas, screenplays, short stories, plays) as they require economy of language...a lot of the poems herein hit the bullseye here, my favorite is "Traveling Light," - which employs the iron fist in the velvet glove technique over "this-is-the-way-I-feel."

Packed with 600 pages of games, riddles, mazes, activities, and physical challenges, the Giant Book of Puzzles & Games is a great reference tool for not only families, but anyone who works with children. This book solves the dilema of how to keep children occupied, regardless of their age or gender. Perfect for rainy days, long car trips, vacations, camping trips, birthday parties, sleep-overs, scout meetings, family nights, or quiet time alone, the activities will challenge parents and children alike. Educators should also take note, since teachers, as well as "before and after school" project coordinators will find this book a relative gold mine of ideas to supplement classroom curriculums and activity schedules.

With titles that range from "Quiet Time" to "Test Yourself" and "Special Party Games", the 11 chapters allow for quick and easy reference. Subcategories within each chapter further help readers locate special areas of interest.

Interestingly, I found myself flipping through the book to read the jokes and riddles, as well as work the challenges, whenever I had a few minutes of time. Frequently, a "few minutes" turned into a few hours. Information on the book's back cover states that "There are enough puzzles to keep you entertained for years." This the truth, and like all good books, you won't put it down.

One of her best

This is very early Lynda Barry. I have a soft spot for it because it is the first book I ever saw of hers and I was blown away by the art and the sensibility. Those familiar with her stuff from the last 10 years or so, which is big on narrative and text, will find this book strange and dark and minimal; it is observations about dating and adult life, without regular characters. It is a must for the Lynda Barry fan!

I am a high school business teacher and I received this book along with the various teacher editions. However, because our order was for only 3 student books, I was not given the student version of the chapter working papers. This made making lesson plans tedious because I needed to format sheets to match, so needless to say, I was NEVER so happy to see that Amazon had the student version! The book arrived in a timely fashion and my students and I are diligently working on accounting (although I think I was much happier to see the book than they were!)

THANKS AMAZON!

Great Resource

This is a great book. Especially for those (like me) who needed to understand foreign policy 101. So many issues that I've heard discussed in the media and in congress i.e. Exim (Export/Import) Bank, I would have been clueless about, wondering who are they and what the heck do they do????, except for this book. I first discovered it on a library shelf, but decided I needed my own copy. I refer back to it often to refresh my memory on details when I need to. And there is an excellent source of other resources in the back of the book to expand your knowledge in many areas. Anyone who is not aware of how our policies affect the world needs this book. And unfortunately that means most American citizens need to read it.

if you want to know how the unprecedented usa current account deficit and "bretton woods 2" stacks up against history, it will be harder to find a better book than this one. Why is the situation the same? why different? what should we expect? these and many more questions are answered in a 4 chapter book that is a MUST read for anyone short the dollar but still a little scared of going up against such large players (the foreign CBs)... the book is meant for people who already have a strong grasp of international monetary theory but no math is involved (so it's a quick read). Well worth the money!

Great book on the origins of the conservative movement. This book makes it clear to see how far the modern conservative movement has strayed from its origins. The book is a great read from a close associate of Goldwater who saw it all up close.

I liked this book a lot because you never knew what Jody and Beth were going to do next.
Jody is the town's trouble maker. She is always getting into some kind of trouble, from stealing to hurting someone. Jody came across the town's new girl, Beth, who moved to Washington from L.A. When they became friends they did everything together. They were always together. Then one day Jody told Beth the story about Molly Morgen and her gold. Jody said that they could be rich one day. She decides to take Beth to Bear Mt. To search for the gold. When they were looking for the gold, they found something else. Glow worms.
I would recommend this book to someone who likes to read adventure stories because this book is one great adventure.

Eichengreen and Flandreau put together a tour-de-force through the most intriguing meanders of the gold standard, a monetary system governing world trade and payments from 1870 to World War II. From the simple and powerful analysis of Hume in the eighteenth century, the book features many contributions from the most influential architects of the system. Keynes, Nurkse and Triffin speak from its pages. Also, contemporary leading economists, with the perspective that only history provides, analyze it in hindsight. A must have for the economic historian and the monetary economist.
